NBC News/Marist Arizona Primary Survey

  • Romney – 43%
  • Santorum – 27%
  • Gingrich – 16%
  • Paul – 11%
  • Undecided – 3%

Among those who have already voted:

  • Romney – 52%
  • Santorum – 22%
  • Gingrich – 17%
  • Paul – 8%

General Election Matchups:

  • Romney – 45%
  • Obama – 40%
  • Santorum – 45%
  • Obama – 42%
  • Paul – 43%
  • Obama – 41%
  • Obama – 45%
  • Gingrich – 40%

Survey of 767 likely primary voters was conducted Feb 19-20 and has a margin of error of +/-3.5%.

Why the difference between this poll and the CNN poll released yesterday? The Washington Post notes: “The NBC/Marist polls were conducted Feb. 19 and 20, while the CNN/Time poll was conducted Feb. 17 through Feb. 20. So there could be some movement toward Romney at the end of the polling period.”

Santo, Newt, and Paul are all dead. That’s right, nothing but zombies.

    There. I said it.

  2. Droopy Says:

    Woohoo!

  3. bumskyred Says:

    Another one bites the dust!

  4. bumskyred Says:

    1, nice!

  5. Doug NYC GOP Says:

    Nice

And good trend in Michigan for same poll. Rom has lead wit already voted there as well.

Sweeter than winning will be stuffing this down the throats of RightWing Media (Rush, Levin, Palin et al)

  6. William Says:

    Boom goes the dynamite!

  7. Matt Y. Says:

Well, we’ll see if other polls confirm this, and we’ll see what happens after tonight’s debate.

  8. GNV Says:

But what about the doom?! I thought Tricky Ricky was taking out Mitt all over the place? :-)

  9. Conservative Gladiator Says:

    Doug – Here here!!!

  10. William Says:

It should be noted that his pollster polled the early voters to, and the other poll’s did not include early voting which is going for Romney big time! Arizona is safe, as long as you win you get all of the WTA delegates, the real battle will be in Michigan, but even there Romney is starting to pull away and I could still see him winning Michigan by 9 or 10 points when all is said and done.

  11. William Says:

The fact is if Romney has a great debate tonight coupled with a great speech at the Detroit Economic Club when he releases his new tax plan, he will have an explosive weekend and will win AZ by double digits and win Michigan convincingly as well

  12. Allen Says:

    Mitt Mentum Baby!!!

  13. Dr K Says:

The early-voting differentials for AZ and MI make a strong case for Romney eventually winning in both.

  14. glenn Says:

ABR hear Mittmentum, they translate it to “outlier” or “home court for Mitt” (how many of those does he have now?).

ABR hear Santorum gaffe, they translate it to Reaganesque defense of (blank).

ABR hear Mitt gaffe, they translate it to doom, “end of campaign”

ABR hear ABR refuse to answer debate question and angrily complain, they hear stallwart victory and defense of their principles.

ABR hear … Well, you get the idea.

    Go. Mitt!

  15. Mark in PA Says:

    5, 9
I want Mitt to win, and there’s definitely a desire to stuff it down certain GOP power players’ throats, but I would much rather we all come together and stuff a united GOP’s power punches down Obama’s throat. Eye on the prize, boys. The nomination is only half the battle.

  16. Conservative Gladiator Says:

15 – Of course. I’m with you. I’m sure that Romney would let it go as long as we are united in that purpose of removing Obama. If/when it gets to the GE and Romney becomes POTUS we shouldn’t forget that he doesn’t owe these people anything – NOTHING AT ALL. That will be refreshing in and of itself to know that the POTUS doesn’t play crony capitalism and is his own person in the White House – an American conservative business man and leader to take this country to new heights.

  17. TruthBeTold Says:

#16 – Romney will owe his donors, mostly wall streeters, and his super pac donors
    quite a lot.

  18. Conservative Gladiator Says:

17 – Romney’s not a politician. That’s not how he operates. Sure he has a lot of friends who have a handle on money but guaranteed Romney can’t and won’t be bought.

  19. Dave Says:

    The truth comes out.

Yesterday we had a poll that showed Mitt with a 10 point lead, and examining the internals, it looked like they over-polled Evangelicals, so it seemed like the disparity should be greater. The NBC poll confirms this.

  20. MarqueG Says:

    14. I’m proudly ABR at this point. But Mitt is the only one in the present field with a chance at getting a majority of delegates outright. This isn’t so much a testament to Mitt’s unique strengths as it is of his rivals’ organizational weaknesses.

  21. William Says:

Screw coming together, Romney can win this on his own, the right wing nuts of this party have been trying to take Romney down from day 1 so even if they support him you know that don’t mean it, this election will be won by the 30% of Americans who are in the MIDDLE and can sway back and forth, and that is what Romney will get!

  22. Reginald from texas Says:

I thought Adam Graham said Romney was losing ground in AZ.

  23. My Man Mitt 4 President Says:

In AZ the only one who loses to Obama is Newt. What is Sheldon Adelson thinking?

  24. My Man Mitt 4 President Says:

    23 oops MI

  25. My Man Mitt 4 President Says:

I think I need more rest sorry guys 23, 24

  26. independentthinker Says:

Tonight’s debate will be important. You never know what will happen in a CNN debate. I’m sure Newt will yell and scream at John King again.

  27. Dave Says:

I should mention, that while it was obvious Mitt was leading among those who have already voted, it was NOT obvious that he was leading in this category by 30 points!!

The only controversy here is how much Mitt will win this thing by. It will be double digits.

  28. Dave Says:

    independent,

While I despise Newt, you almost HAVE to love a guy who will scream at John King!

  29. Common Cents Says:

I was one of the respondents to this Marist poll, I knew one day I’d get a call from a pollster.

AZ will safely go Romney by at least double digits (a 20 point win is actually likely), his campaign should focus on Michigan 24/7. Santorum has ZERO presence here in AZ. Also, this poll was before the bomb Drudge dropped, I expect it to swing even more to Romney.

One of the interesting question they asked was if I felt Mormons were Christians. I answered yes (I’m a Baptist).

  30. SixMom Says:

    #1 Marque

You mean just for Arizona, right?

  31. SixMom Says:

    #29 Thank you CC!

  32. Jerry Says:

Lord, ITS game over for dam Graham????

  33. Jerry Says:

    HE is Missing his “A”

  34. Killjoy Says:

    Just for everyones information

I wrote this note to Public Policy Polling today:

When you release polling for a state like Arizona that has early voting… do you take that into account when you release your polls?

take for instance your recent poll of Arizona where you had

    Romney 36%
    Santorum 33%

does that include the people that have already voted? or does it mean those are the numbers for those who haven’t voted yet, but intend to?

and received this back in response:

It includes both early voters and people who have yet to vote, but we should have provided a breakout by whether people have voted yet and we will for our next poll-

    Tom

  35. Clarence Gillespie Says:

I am protastant and would like Santorum to know Satan doesn’t have me or my family! I think this guy might have some sexual perversion he is hiding.
