  1. John2 Says:

Hopefully Paul beats Gingrich for 2nd…

  2. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

The commentators on TV seem to think Mitt’s the nominee already, so all they do is talk about how Obama is going to beat him.

If they keep talking like that, it has the added effect of prolonging the primary. It’s a double-whammy.

  3. Liz Says:

    Paul for second. Herewith.

  4. Abe Says:

    MITT-mentum…………………………….baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Liz Says:

It’s hard to think that some people’s medical problem is not being able to go to sleep.

  6. Abe Says:

And for tonight a little PAUL-mentum…………………….baby!!!!

  7. Matthew E. Miller Says:

Paul’s basically running even with Newt in Clark and a fair bit ahead of him in Washoe. If that holds up, he shouldn’t have too much trouble holding onto 2nd.

  8. Liz Says:

I wish someone would come to my house and cut my hair. Professionally. That’s how busy I am. Can’t get out to get a haircut. Waiting….waiting for results….

  9. Liz Says:

This is probably one of the most enjoyable evenings…waiting for results….wish I had some buffalo wings like the ones advertised in the corner there…..waiting for the results that will propel some competence into the White House….nothing could be finer……

  10. Liz Says:

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, looks like Nevada will go Mr. Mittens…..

  11. Matthew E. Miller Says:

Almost all the rural stuff is in and Gingrich has a lead of a whopping 170 votes. That doesn’t look safe to me considering Paul’s probably going to run at least a few points ahead of Gingrich in Clark/Washoe.

  12. Sean Says:

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, looks like Nevada will go Mr. Mittens…..”

    Very clever Liz.

  13. jaxemer11 Says:

Obamacare is NOT the signature issue of this campaign. If that is what Santorum thinks, he is more out of touch than I thought he was.

  14. jaxemer11 Says:

Wow! Santorum’s speech is pretty bad. And Fox isn’t even covering it.

  15. Jonathan Says:

I’m hoping Romney gets over the 100 delegate mark tonight. In pure numeric terms it doesn’t mean anything, but it’s a great contrast to see Romney in triple delegate digits while the others are all still below 40.

  16. OhioRepub Says:

Who do you prefer to watch? FOX or CNN?

    I prefer CNN.

  17. jaaron Says:

Santorum – “if the govt runs health care, there is nothing it won’t control.”

Already there, champ – before obamacare. What does he call medicaid, medicare, SS, etc???

  18. Jonathan Says:

    #16:

Easily CNN. FOX has some of the most dumbed down coverage. Some of them are good (like Brit Hume and Karl Rove) but a lot of them are just wrong (especially Bill Kristol).

  19. OhioRepub Says:

LOL! CNN just cut off Santorum’s speech!

  20. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    19

They were losing viewers, obviously. His speeches are boring and long-winded.

  21. G Says:

Gingrich daughter’s point out that their dad “never had consultants who give him things to say and he walks out and does it.”

Also, they note that their dad will run a positive campaign from here on out.

  22. mittman Says:

CNN getting very tired of fox’s one note symphony.

Even though CNN’s isnt much better.

  23. Jerald Says:

I don’t even turn FOX on anymore.

    It’s just brain numbing stuff.

CNN is now providing the “fair and balanced” coverage…

  24. jaaron Says:

21 – How many times has Newt said that he was going to run a positive campaign?

Lets count, before Iowa – 1

After he won South Carolina – 2

Now, that he getting his oversized backend handed to him – 3.

This guy must have a fascination with the #3 – how many other 3 things has he done?

  25. mittman Says:

    Gingrich positive?

That is clearly and fundamentaly impossible.

  26. Jonathan Says:

And CNN has declared that the winner of the Nevada Caucuses is Governor Mitt Romney. Congrats Governor.

  27. Ozzy Says:

Cnn just projected Mitt as the winner

  28. Dave Gaultier Says:

I guess NH/FL/NV now equals the Republican nomination ;)

  29. Liz Says:

What happened to Fox? I think Murdoch got pressured and booted Glenn Beck and started sliding libbish… but it used to be pretty good, remember?

  30. Liz Says:

CNN declared? OK, Newt is picking up the phone right now…..NOT.

  31. Jonathan Says:

    #28:

Actually, it’s only Florida. Since 1976, the winner of the Florida primary has won the Republican nomination.

  32. Ozzy Says:

Nobody at the Newt HQ in Nevada.

  33. Liz Says:

“yeah, hello Mitt? This is Newton Leroy Gingrich the third. You CHEATED!” click

  35. Chris L. Says:

I too am tuning into CNN more this year. I have begun to disdain Fox. They have become so “low brow” in their coverage and in this cycle they have been very biased in favor of Newt—a former employee of course—and they put on some of the most incredible dim wits. They have two good anchors—Shepard Smith and Bill Hemmer who I wish would go to CNN and replace Anderson Cooper.

  36. Liz Says:

“Come on, Callista. Some strappin’ big boy knows of a line of credit at Tiffany’s waiting to be exploited. Pay no mind to that TV screen.”

  37. Liz Says:

“Callista, are you willing to share me, with America?”

  38. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    34

You’re going to update those later, right?

  39. blue Says:

I like fox but there are two on air folks that drive me bonkers, therefore i refuse to watch whenever they are on and they happen to be on right now. Yuck.

  40. Jonathan Says:

CNN’s polls say that Romney won essentially every single group, including those mythically uber-important “true conservative” subgroup.

  41. Metro Says:

#35: Bill Hemmer went from CNN to Fox.

Shep Smith looks very ill lately.

  42. Dave Gaultier Says:

“I too am tuning into CNN more this year. I have begun to disdain Fox. They have become so “low brow” in their coverage”

You said it, Chris. At the rate Fox is going, it won’t be long until Sarah Palin is giving her “news analysis” in a bikini with a semi-automatic weapon strapped around her.

  43. Matthew Kilburn Says:

“You’re going to update those later, right?”

Yes, lol. I killed off my finance homework early tonight.

  44. Jonathan Says:

    #34:

I’m curious Matthew, but which one is me. It seems like there are two Jonathan’s on the list. I hope it’s #5 instead of #37 :)

  45. Liz Says:

Just hope they don’t put Greta in a bikini.

  46. OhioRepub Says:

Has CNN said what time Romney’s speech will begin?

  47. jaxemer11 Says:

What an absurd way to nominate a presidential candidate. You get more credit for winning by 20 points than by 25 percentage points in this ridiculous system.

We need a national primary. This is silly.

  48. Ozzy Says:

If FoxNews puts Kimberly Guilfoyle, Andrea Tantaros, Martha McCallum, Megyn Kelly, Maria Molina, Margaret Hoover, Kirsten Powers, and Jenna Lee in bikinis, I’d watch the network all the time. :)

  49. jaxemer11 Says:

CNN has always been the best at election coverage. Fox has never been very good at it, in my opinion. Mix in their obvious bias this year and they are unwatchable.

  50. Jonathan Says:

Lol, a crazy Ron Paul supporter got into a scuffle with the Nevada Republican Party outside of a late-night caucus in Clark County. Ron Paul always has brought out some of the more… interesting folks.

  51. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    48

In order: Big mouth, rabbit teeth, chunky, too dominant, DAMN!, DAMN!, DAMN!, cute.

  52. jaxemer11 Says:

Re: 47 – was supossed to say that in the current system you get more credit for winning by 20 VOTES than by 25 percentage points.

  53. ogrepete Says:

Wow, some of you guys are Fox News aficionados. Apparently, I’m really missing out by not paying for cable… ;D

  54. Barnes Says:

Romney should start his speech during Gingrinches press conference

  55. Ozzy Says:

    MassCon,

I like Kimberly lips and Andrea’s legs. As for McCallum, didn’t you see her in that dress during the Florida primary? Va Va Va Voom!!! I have no disagreement about the rest of the ladies.

  56. Jonathan Says:

So, now Governor Romney has won 3 purple states; one in the West, one in the South and one in the Northeast.

But I’m sure that once Newt Gingrich unveils his latest craptastic idea, all of that will be swept away.

  57. OhioRepub Says:

Did they just say 10:30 EST for Romney’s speech?

  58. Matthew Kilburn Says:

there was an error (two actually) in the spreadsheet. Oops. Here we go:

    1. aj rabin 12.9%
    2. Mushroom 13.3%
    3. Massachusetts Conservative 16.9%
    4. Jonathan 16.9%

    31. Jeff Y 37.3%
    32. mittman 38.9%
    33. Heil Preußen! 55.3%

  59. BD1 Says:

48 – Ozzy I would give Jenna Lee a DAMN also. I have to penalize Kirsten Powers for being Anthony Weiner’s girlfriend….major demerit for poor taste and bad judgment

  60. Ozzy Says:

Why is CNN just crediting the Mormons for Mitt’s victory? Even FoxNews has claimed that Mitt would’ve still won big without the Mormon vote.

  61. Independent CPA Says:

Mitt had Nevada locked up the day he announced his candidacy.

  62. Matthew Kilburn Says:

Kudos to CNN to ridiculing the leftist blowhard at the table.

  63. Jonathan Says:

Good Lord, the CNN panel is dumping their collective pile of excrement on Romney. They’re going on and on about this class-warfare nonsense. That’ll get really old come the fall campaign.

  64. OhioRepub Says:

Erickson on CNN said he thought the Mormon thing was just hype, not necessarily true.

  65. blue Says:

dagen mcdowell looked pretty good this am but fox does overkill it with the bimo babes… i like charles krathammer, neil cavuto, bill o’reily, and fred barnes but something about fox gets annoying after awhile.

  66. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    59

Jenna is cute. As for Kirsten, I think she’d be an engaging date partner and probably really fun after a couple glasses of wine.

  67. OhioRepub Says:

Looks like ROmney’s speech is about to start.

  68. Ian Says:

Listening to Santorum and I pull my hair out everytime he says he is the most electable candidate in the race. Santy, man, you are having a hard time getting through the primaries. How on earth do you expect to go toe to toe with Obama.

  69. Ozzy Says:

By the way, why does it take a week for Maine to do it’s caucus?

  70. aspire Says:

    24
Gingrich is dedicated to remaining positive 24/7, 24 hours a day 7 days a month.

  71. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    65

Dagen is too… mean. I like ‘em polite and womanlike.

  72. Ozzy Says:

Ann Coulter and Michael Reagan on FoxNews, this should be good.

  73. blue Says:

newt’s sugar daddy going to romney

  74. mittman Says:

This has been a novelty to the libbys up til
Now . Tonight they are starting to tale the attacks
More seriously. We will see if Fox starts to circle the wagons.

  75. jaxemer11 Says:

64 – That isn’t what he said. He said talk about Romney being a better general election candidate because of his Mormon network is just hype.

  76. Liz Says:

This has become a hostile work environment, so I will say goodnight.

  77. blue Says:

u got to be mean to be on wall street. My favorite fox babe is molly henneberg

  78. Jonathan Says:

Gergen says that Romney needs to offer a couple of specifics that people can remember. I tend to agree; Romney needs to have a message that people can say “this is what Romney says he’ll do to fix the economy”.

  79. jaxemer11 Says:

So what do we hear from Newt tonight? A bunch of “pious baloney” about running a positive campaign, followed by a bunch of nastiness about Mitt being negative? And then I bet he says he will skip February and focus on Super Tuesday states, which is probably smart looking at how far he fell in the latest Georgia poll.

  80. Ozzy Says:

    Ann Romney is up.

  81. Ozzy Says:

Ann Romney looks good in that pink and black outfit

  82. BD1 Says:

    78. Like Hope and Change? Just kidding, I agree Mitt needs a few key messages. I think this will come once he is clearly the nominee.

  83. Ozzy Says:

    Jonathan & BD1,

Saying Believe in America & Restore America’s Greatness ain’t enough?

  84. MarqueG Says:

I dislike/like the candidates fairly evenly. But I prefer Fox for not using five Dems to comment every time on a Repub policy line or candidate. I find it annoying that Fox does it the other way around, though, so I prefer my own web research over either, and don’t find TV all that compelling.

  85. Micah Says:

    Romney at 39%???

  86. Jonathan Says:

    #84:

The fairest, most balanced network of all? C-Span. They simply don’t have an opinion at all.

  87. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

    Romney crowd is really energized!

  88. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    85

That does not include Las Vegas or Reno yet. CNN has those cities included, and Mitt is at about 50% there. Flip to CNN and look at it.

  89. aspire Says:

I Googled probability of unseating a president and the first website that popped up was this:

    http://race42012.com/2011/03/10/defeating-incumbent-presidents-odds-and-recent-history/

  90. Doug NYC GOP Says:

#86: Very sly and wry humor there Jonathan. I like it.

  91. MarqueG Says:

Mitt’s doing pretty well in his speech right now. But the full-on media assaults on him and the O-campaign have not even begun yet.

Once they do, Mitt will sadly lose. He has already delivered more Kerry-type lines (“I voted for it before I voted against it”) than anyone in the O camp could have hoped for. So even if unemployment stats rise again, Mitt has a bigger challenge — his awful political skill — than anyone in decades.

  92. Matthew Kilburn Says:

    “Romney at 39%???”

According to Politico – which is…..questionable. CNN Still has him pushing 50%, and the exits have him above that line. Just wait for the population centers to come in.

  93. MarqueG Says:

    86. Brian Lamb is a flaming Romney supporter.

  94. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    91

Full-on media assaults on him haven’t begun?

Um, Marque, were you watching TV this week?

Frankly, have you watched TV for the last 4 years?

  95. MarqueG Says:

    Okay, I’m kidding.

  96. jaxemer11 Says:

91 – Have you ever been positive in your life?

  97. Doug NYC GOP Says:

    Cnn 13% vote in

    Romney 47%
    Newt 22%
    Paul 19%
    Santy 12%

  98. Joshua Says:

#69 Ozzy: The Maine Republican Party allows the towns to schedule their own local caucuses. At the caucuses, which are officially to select delegates to the state party convention, the towns will also hold a poll for presidential choice (like Iowa did at their caucuses).

A few towns will actually not hold their caucuses until after Feb. 11. However, those towns will not participate in the presidential choice poll; the results of the poll will be final as of Feb. 11. They will, however, send delegates to the state party convention in May.

The state party convention in May is when Maine’s presidential delegates will actually be selected.

  99. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

I am all in for Mitt but does anyone else want to hear him talk more specifics on how he will do the things he says or is the election more of a beauty contest?

Maybe he plans on laying out more specifics when he gets into the general election.

  100. Jonathan Says:

    #93:

John McCain once quipped that Lamb’s political affiliation was “vegetarian”.

  101. Romney/Rubio 2012! Says:

Wow he’s got them fired up!

  102. I Cheated On My Wives For You America, newt Says:

    Romney! Romney! Romney!

  103. jaxemer11 Says:

99 – Elections are always beauty contests

  104. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Mitt needs to change his victory speeches up a bit.

  105. OhioRepub Says:

Great speech by Romney! Wow. Probably his best yet.

  106. aspire Says:

Now that Romney’s pivoting to the general election, he’s really turning up the excitement level.

  107. OhioRepub Says:

104, He had a lot of new lines + some recycled ones. Nothing wrong with that. I’d say he had 60-70% new material tonight. Remember not everyone watches every speech he makes.

  108. opey Says:

Is Newt’s preso at 11:00 eastern?

  109. Jonathan Says:

    #104:

Agreed. It might just be because that as political junkies, we’ve been paying close attention to his speeches, but they have been a little formulaic.

  110. MarqueG Says:

    96. I’m only positive about you, Jax. Yore my only hope.

  111. Ozzy Says:

    91 MarqueG,

    You are one pessimistic guy.

  112. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Wow did you notice how fast the suits gathered around Mitt when he went to address the crowd? Must be the new secret service detail. Go President Mitt!!!

  113. jaxemer11 Says:

95% of those that heard it didn’t think it was old stuff. The speech wasn’t meant to win over political junkies that listen to every word he says.

  114. jaxemer11 Says:

112 – They probably HATE that he does that.

  115. Jerald Says:

Newt has better security than Mitt–Callista 8)

  116. Jonathan Says:

    MarqueG:

On the Kerry thing, it should be noted that Kerry came within 50,000 votes of unseating President Bush. It wasn’t so much that Kerry lost in that President Bush and his team did a phenominal job of running a reelection campaign that they probably should’ve lost. Kerry made mistakes for sure, but Bush’s people ran a masterful campaign.

  117. Yucca Mtn Says:

CNN and FOX are really trying to pee on this fire today. They REALLY don’t want this to be over already.

  118. MarqueG Says:

    94. Just wait. Even (blue-doggish) Dem Walter Russell Mead griped recently about front-page NYT pieces being needlessly anti-Romney. Once Mitt is the nominee, all news outlets but Fox will be anti-Repub, no matter what.

Or are you suddenly under the impression that the Boston media is less anti-Mitt than the national print and broadcast folks?

  119. Jerald Says:

But I think Callista is trying to protect Newt from himself…And her “investment”…

  120. Jonathan Says:

Also re Kerry, he didn’t have to fight nearly as hard for his party’s nomination as Romney has had to. Kerry essentially stood back and let Dean and Gephardt destroy each other and he came in and picked up the pieces. Romney’s had to overcome a lot more hostility and suspicions in his own party just to get this far. That toughens up a candidate and a campaign.

  121. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    118

    1. The outlets are already anti-Romney. Every mention of his name contains at least one of the following words within 5 words of his name: Mormon, moderate, Obamacare.

    2. Fox’s spin against him is HURTING him among the base. His numbers among Republicans (which are very good as it is) are as low as they will get until November 6th.

    3. I don’t follow the Boston media, one iota.

  122. Doug NYC GOP Says:

Let’s not be too critical of Mitt’s speeches.

They al have a stump outline, with tried and true stanzas.

How many times did we hear about Reagan’s “Shining city on a hill” or other jokes he used over and over.

To those of us who supported him, we understood it was part of the territory of running.

So Romney is doing just fine.

As someone else pointed ut earlier, tonight had a lot of new ,material.

I love the Q&A with the audience about jobs.

Who says he can’t engage a crowd?

    Did you hear the chants?

I hope everyone keeps under estimating him.

I hope they under estimate him right inot the Oval Office.

  123. asparagus Says:

Love the Secret Service detail. Where were you when during Joseph Smith’s run?? LOL.

  124. MarqueG Says:

    Jonathan:

Kerry made mistakes for sure, but Bush’s people ran a masterful campaign.

Absolutely right. And Bush had a better economy than now, but the media absolutely hated Dubya. This time, Bam-O gets the benefit of every doubt in the media reporting.

I don’t totally buy into the economic determinism. It’s relative. Otherwise GHW Bush would have been a two-term guy, no questions asked.

  125. Ozzy Says:

    Newt Press Conference-

Best case Scenario- He drops out.

Worst Case Scenario- He goes third Party.

  126. Micah Says:

Dude on Fox said Romney should end up with around 55%.

  127. aspire Says:

122 He had something similar in 2007 when he was turning up the heat in his campaign trying to beat McCain. It’s not that this is a new thing for him, he just understands the timing of running a race.

  128. Jonathan Says:

    #124:

One crisis in the Eurozone, Iran blocking the Straits of Hormuz, or anything of the like could crash the economy. Gas prices are already starting to rise again.

  129. MarqueG Says:

    123. Protecting President Lincoln.

    …dude, talk about cultivating grievances.

  130. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

    125. Newt is going to try to ouline or tell people he has an outline to get the delegates he needs to win the primary. He will also say he is changing the tone of his campaign. More positive, focused on issues.

  131. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    129

How did that one work out?

And anyway, the Secret Service is really new. It wasn’t even around until the 20th century, you know.

  132. Ozzy Says:

Is there a point to this caucus group going on right now that CNN is covering? I mean Mitt already won.

  133. asparagus Says:

129 it was a joke. Just saying “you’ve come a long way, baby!”

  134. SGS Says:

#114 Especially after the loafer we have in a White House, playing a few holes, having a few photo opps (meaning the agents could filter the people beforehand) and other appearance of being a successful and busy president. Yes, SS agents will hate Mitt for being on the go from 5 am until midnight, bad enough to make Energize Bunny jealous!

  135. Jonathan Says:

    #132:

This is for the Orthodox Jews and Seventh Day Adventists who, for religious reasons, couldn’t attend the caucuses earlier in the day.

  136. Matthew Kilburn Says:

“And anyway, the Secret Service is really new. It wasn’t even around until the 20th century, you know.”

Not exactly…It was formed in the 1860s.

  137. BD1 Says:

At what time will we get the majority of the NV results reported?

  138. OhioRepub Says:

This late-hour caucus is a Ron Paul therapy session.

  139. SGS Says:

137 Clark county, where Las Vegas is, counts for half of the state vote, and they won’t release their number until Orthodox Jews and other religious people have their sayings.

  140. aspire Says:

LOL, Gingrich is banking on winning Texas. I’ll start watching for that after he builds his lunar colony.

  141. G Buttersnaps Says:

Did Newt win the Area 51 precinct?

  142. MarqueG Says:

FNC showing Newt to be erratic. No, I didn’t mean “erotic.” Looks like the plebeians are rebelling against the Murdoch/Ailes conspiracy machine.

  143. Jonathan Says:

    #137:

There are 2 counties outstanding. One is Lander County, which has 44% of the precincts reporting. The other is the big enchilada, Clark County that has only 3% reporting in. Clark County’s numbers should start to come in after the late-night caucus on CNN wraps up.

  144. Jonathan Says:

    #143:

My bad, Storey County outside of Reno, has 80% reporting in.

  145. Steve Says:

This is the most coverage Paul has received all cycle.

Letting the American people speak their voice sans censorship? I tip my hat to you, CNN.

  146. Watchinitall Says:

    138. LOL!

  147. MarqueG Says:

    128. Jon, the president usually has the upper hand in foreign affairs debacles, holding the sole reins as he does. I don’t feel I can rely on Bam’s foreign policy incompetence to sink him in terms of the PR. His policies might be worse than Carter’s, but his public demeanor isn’t taken nearly as negatively, whether by the press or in public opinion.

  148. Thomas Alan Says:

    131:

No, the Secret Service was formed by Lincoln. Though it wasn’t there to protect the president. They were in charge of stopping counterfeiting money (which is still their job).

The got the job of protecting the president after McKinley was assassinated (the 3rd president murdered in 35 years).

  149. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Noot speaking…I am in this to Tampa. Then I will build a moon base. Oh an Gov Romney hates poor people.

    Not going to work Noot.

  150. Jonathan Says:

And of course Newt has to attack Romney in his news conference.

This guy truly is a p****.

  151. Sir David Says:

Newt: “Unlike governor Romney, I care about the poor”

Yes, like your in-debt campaign, Newt.

  152. jaxemer11 Says:

So much for the “positive” campaign. What the hell is the point of this?

  153. Ozzy Says:

Way to go Newt. Stay Positive. :)

  154. jaxemer11 Says:

Blaming it on Mormons. My respect for this moron just keeps getting lower and lower.

  155. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Real reason Newt did not hold a normal post caucus/primary speech…because the lack of people attending would show people dislike him.

Oh and BTW…Newt thinks Mitt won because of the Mormon population.

  156. jaxemer11 Says:

Notice that Romney has never blamed the South Carolina loss on evangelicals, even though they it was clearly a factor.

  157. Ozzy Says:

Newt cares so much for the poor that he wants them to be janitors and not increase the minimum wage for them.

  158. K.G. Says:

The journalist was on w/Brett Baier. He said for some reason the results are really slow coming in. Great. Just like IA? He also said that when the results come in for Clark County, Mitt will be up around 55. That would be nice.

Also, it’s hilarious. In 2008 all the East Coast commentators kept saying Ne-vahda, which makes people on the West Coast cringe for some reason. Now they are working hard to say Nevada, but having a rough time of it.

  159. Jonathan Says:

I want Romney to win another Southern state, head-on versus Gingrich. Romney needs to humiliate Gingrich, on his home turf just to finally deflate his massive ego.

  160. jaxemer11 Says:

LOL … The point of this was too counteract rumors planted by the Romney campaign that he was dropping out? What a freaking idiot! If I were CNN I would cut away right now.

  161. Sir David Says:

Worst press conference ever. Where’s the news? What a stunt.

  162. K.G. Says:

#157: While forbidding them to speak Spanish.

  163. Jerald Says:

    Jonathan,

Washoe, the other big enchilada containing Reno hasn’t reported much yet either…

  164. jaaron Says:

This is just a chance to get cameras to allow him to get some free publicity. It’s total BS. This man is a dangerous, wounded animal. Somebody put him out of his proverbial misery.

  165. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Well Noot is definately going to be positive, which I have no problem with. Mitt will continue to bury Noot with all of the crap a Gingrich nominee would bring. Newt stands no chance, he can wish all he wants.

  166. jaaron Says:

    Newt was a Rockefeller republican!!!!

  167. Heath Says:

No why is Newt beating RP? That wasn’t meant to happen. Will Mittens even beat 50% :( .

  168. Ozzy Says:

Newt is obsessed with these Lincoln-Douglas debates.

  169. blue Says:

podium is a long way’s back from the press

  170. jaxemer11 Says:

    155 – Exactly right!

  171. MarqueG Says:

Newt has chosen a format that suits him better than a conventional announcement. By far. Too bad for him the caucuses are less newsworthy in general, that they come on a weekend, and that the newscycle will come before the Superbowl.

  172. K.G. Says:

The journalist also said that Catholics went for Mitt 2-1.

  173. Steve Says:

“A pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, George Soros-approved candidate will not do well in the southern states”

Gingrich laying the smack down. Attack after attack after attack.

  174. Jonathan Says:

    #163:

My bad. I kept hitting the counties around Reno, but apparently not Washoe County.

  175. Ozzy Says:

“The choice of Romney and Obama, there’s no choice.”

This worries me that Newt will go third party eventually.

  176. Jerald Says:

CNN International decided it wasn’t worth their time to cover Newty’s diatribe…LOL

  177. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

This whole press conference makes Noot look so bad. This is wonderful.

  178. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

I also love that Noot says he will debate Noot and stand up to him…just like you did in Florida, right Nootie boy?

Noot compares Romney to Obama and then says there is no comparison between them if Romney were the nominee. Got it!

  179. Metro Says:

Didn’t he totally contradict himself on Obama vs Romney in the space of a couple minutes?

  180. aspire Says:

No congratulations, no thank you to his supporters who voted for him, he just bashes Romney with blatant lies, claims “Mormons” are why Romney won Nevada (I’m betting there’s more Catholics than Mormons in Nevada). Blames the caucus format for Ron Paul’s success. Tries to link Romney to Soros (no link), blames Romney’s campaign for saying he was going to drop out. Then demands Romney debate him one-on-one (excluding all the other candidates), but says Romney can’t use any of the tactics he used in Florida. So he’s willing to debate Romney IF Romney uses Gingrich approved arguments.

This guy’s the worst. THE WORST!

  181. Jonathan Says:

    #179:

If Newt’s been talking for 3 minutes then he’s totally contradicted himself.

  182. BD1 Says:

“News” conference is just another way for Newt to get free air time….Stunts like this will continue and the media loves this vs a boring primary process where the leader is clear. Newt is great for their business which I actually understand from a business standpoint. Just sucks that Mitt will have to continue to defend his flank vs going 100% against Obama.

  183. aspire Says:

179 Yeah, I noticed that also.

  184. Ozzy Says:

Is this is what Newt calls a positive campaign, I hate to see what a negative campaign from Newt would be like.

  185. K.G. Says:

#171 And for people in the middle of the night on the East Coast.

  186. Anybody but NEWT Says:

Candidates always go positive when they have no funds to go negative.

  187. aspire Says:

FYI, this is the only debate Gingrich is willing to do. Where he “debates” the media who doesn’t get a chance to answer back.

  188. jaaron Says:

Newt blew up the CNN feed. It couldn’t take the BS, anymore.

  189. Jonathan Says:

    #184:

He hasn’t accused Romney of causing 9/11, bombing Pearl Harbor, or killing a prostitute yet. So yeah, this is a postiive campaign by Newt’s standard.

  190. Jerald Says:

It’s not a smackdown if all you can throw is balls…

  191. jaxemer11 Says:

Geez … I am turning this nonsense off. What an ass!

  192. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Follow up question to campaign winning 1 out of 5…Don’t you think Obama will outspend you 100,000 to 1? Are you just going to cry about it louder then? Pathetic!

  193. aspire Says:

Gingrich: I lost Florida only because Romney had more money than me.

Reporter: Are you going to be able to raise more money than Romney at any point of this race?

    Gingrich: No.

  194. Ozzy Says:

I love the way the reporters are trying to get Newt angry.

  195. MarqueG Says:

I’m sure the Romney folks are laughing themselves silly at this point. Nothing here will gain national media attention for long, if at all…

  196. ClassyMitt Says:

I’ve been following politics for a long time, and I’ve never seen anything like what Newt is doing here.

  197. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

    179. Metro…exactly…see 178. It was within a minute.

  198. Jonathan Says:

And now Gingrich is saying that Romney wins by surpressing votes. Bull Connor and Mitt Romney, apparently they are two peas in a pod according to the pompous ass.

  199. aspire Says:

194 They’re trying to figure out how he’s so delusional.

  200. Conservative Independent Says:

I am so glad I didn’t waste my time watching Newton. He is a disgusting human being who needs to take his meds for whatever causes him to act like he does. I wish he would drip out.

  201. Micah Says:

Holy Shit! Newt has gone crazy!

  202. aspire Says:

  203. ClassyMitt Says:

  204. Ozzy Says:

Newt’s entire campaign has turned into a bash Mitt, call Mitt a liar campaign.

  205. Watchinitall Says:

    Wow. Gingrich. Wow.

  206. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Funny how Newt blasts the media except when he needs to get them to say Romney did something that made him look stupid. He looks so weak with these defenses. How can anyone think he would do anything other than get killed by Obama?

  207. K.G. Says:

    #173

Gingrich laying the smack down. Attack after attack after attack.

Gingrich laying down the lies while whining about Mitt’s lying. Of course, Mitt is NOT pro-abortion and fought against gay marriage. As for Soros: Newt’s going to win by quoting Soros? If course, all this mendacity may work in the South. Newt must know, being a Son of the South and all.

  208. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

No one watched this press conference and came out a Gingrich supporter.

  209. aspire Says:

    Gingrich is ashamed of himself.

  210. MarqueG Says:

Newt is now falling back on his years as Speaker, back when holding press conferences mattered, since he was was third in line for the POTUS. Now he holds no office, and he’s relying on his own media savvy. Yet he lacks the requisite podium to make real news.

  211. NY4Romney Says:

Turn on snl making fun of Newt

  212. Jonathan Says:

At this point, when Romney gets the nomination, if I were his campaign, I would refuse to let him at the convention. No speaking slots, no platform concessions, not even a freaking floor pass or an airplane ticket. This man should not be allowed anywhere near the Tampa Convention.

  213. Sir David Says:

This is a disaster for Newt.

  214. Metro Says:

    This is fascinating.

  215. BD1 Says:

    195. Yep. Plus it’s 11:30 pm ET on a saturday, the night before the super-bowl. No way this get’s much (if any) air time in next week’s news cycle

  216. aspire Says:

Gingrich was not positive in Iowa. He just didn’t have money for negative ads. There was plenty of negative stuff coming out of his mouth.

  217. Sir David Says:

  218. Watchinitall Says:

“I was outspent 5-1. I think it is fundamentally pathetic that Romney was out fundraising while I was on a Greek Isles cruise.”

  220. Jrcutler Says:

    Newt sucks!

  221. Matthew E. Miller Says:

Is it really bad? I haven’t even bothered to watch. Has Gingrich ascended to a new level of asshole consciousness?

  222. Jonathan Says:

    #212:

I’m referring of course to Gingrich. The Romney people should not give a damned sliver of the olive branch to him.

Governor Romney, do us all a favor; clobber this son of a ***** in every single state coming up.

  223. Metro Says:

    This is a psychological confession.

  224. Micah Says:

NEWT IS A SHAME TO HIMSELF, HIS FAMILY, HIS PARTY, HIS COUNTRY, AND HIS CREATOR.

  225. MarqueG Says:

    218. Heh! :-D

  226. Florida Conservative Says:

I just hope Romney will go and campaign in Georgia and spend TV ads in the state to try and beat Newt there, if he does that will be the greatest thing ever!

  227. Heath Says:

Guys I have money on RP for 2nd and Mitt by 25% plus.

    Is my money lost?

    Katcheon if you still post?

  228. K.G. Says:

Newt is completely insane. Why doesn’t everyone get it? He refuses to debate with the media as moderators. However, he only wins debates when he can attack the media moderators. Huh?

Of course, the media keeps putting him on: Everyone loves a train wreck. But why are people still voting for him and endorsing him?

  229. Andrew Ryan Says:

Newt is embarrassing our entire party.

  230. jaxemer11 Says:

216 – Exactly right. The only reason Newt ever led was because of the immense amount of negativity that the right has been spewing against Romney all year. Newt is the biggest scumbag in the world.

  231. Firecracker (Romney/Christie) Says:

Newt keeps talking about how Romney was fundamentally dishonest in the last debate BUT HE NEVER SAYS WHAT ROMNEY WAS BEING DISHONEST ABOUT!!

  232. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

    214. The utter failure of Newt? It is fascinating. He looks so small. Metaphorically speaking.

Now he is trying to give the Romney campaign advice on how to run a campaign. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  233. jaxemer11 Says:

    221 – Yes …most definitely

  234. Conservative Independent Says:

Is the Newton press conference still going on?

  235. K.G. Says:

#212 Amen to that. The man needs to be hauled away and placed in a home when he is not a danger to himself and others…not allowed anywhere near the convention.

  236. Ozzy Says:

Finally, Newt said something sensible. Go Giants!!!!!!!!!

  237. Jonathan Says:

    #227:

Looks like you lost your money. Right now with 43% reporting in, it’s:

    Romney- 44%
    Gingrich- 25%
    Paul- 18%
    Santorum- 12%

  238. Sidecar Says:

    “Last question”

The press is killing newt. It’s not just Romney that is in his head.

  239. aspire Says:

    This guy’s a classless joke.

His campaign probably thought that if he got in front of the media and got to fight it out them he’d look good. It didn’t work.

  240. Watchinitall Says:

Accusation after accusation, no specific “dishonest statement” singled out as an example. Tough to admire such a performance. No dignity, no responsibility for any of his failings.

  241. Sir David Says:

Bottom line: Mitt Romney didn’t hold a presser to clear up that he’s staying in.

Hint: if there are rumors you are dropping out, your campaign is in trouble.

  242. jaxemer11 Says:

Interesting how kind Newt is to the media when he he needs them to bash Romney. Fracking hypocrite!

  243. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

Watching the Noot presser was like watching a train wreck. The guy is truly ill. Nothing good, inspiring, or news worthy came out of that.

I honestly can say that I loathe Gingrich now. I’ve tried not to make it personal, but I despise this guy. He needs to be crushed, humiliated, completely driven from Republican politics and the national stage.

  266. Matthew E. Miller Says:

    Jonathan,

A large part of me agrees with you. I’ve been, to myself, analogizing it to hearts. Romney’s playing hearts and has discovered he’s won the first 7 hearts and holds the queen of spades. Does he try to shoot the moon? Right now, he has a real chance of pinching Newt out of existence- just eviscerating him such that everything he’s ever said about Romney, and every attack he’s ever made, will be henceforth deemed crockery. That could be a pretty darn good inoculation. Obama: You hate the poor. Mitt: That’s what Newt said and, as you can see, that guy practically belongs in a sanitarium.

Alternatively, if he lets Gingrich escape, then he’s stuck with 7 hearts and maybe a few more as the hand progresses. Not good. Hard to mount a comeback after accumulating so many points.

#274 The problem is you can’t run a rational campaign against someone who acts like they are unbalanced. I’m actually glad that Mitt has the Secret Service protection. If Newt keeps this up, who knows what one of his unbalanced supporters might try.

  281. jaxemer11 Says:

Bill Kristol says Santorum may win Colorado and come back. Does he even look at polls before he spouts his nonsense anymore?

I’m vindictive. I don’t want to passively watch him destroy himself; I want my candidate to be actively involved in the destroying.

  284. Jeff Y Says:

Wait, I missed Newt’s press conference. What exactly did he blabber about?

  285. Strange But True Says:

Newt is the political equivalent of Charlie Sheen (without the drugs and the porn stars). The man is not well and is imploding before our very eyes.

  286. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

    281. Kristol is a Doooooooooooouche!

  287. Conservative Independent Says:

  288. Jonathan Says:

    #281:

Bill Kristol is a man who has never let the facts get in the way of his opinions.

  289. jaxemer11 Says:

Romney needs to marginalized Newt by starting a full fledged campaign against Obama. Try to get the White House to engage in a back and forth dialogue with him. That will get tons of coverage and drown out any of the nonsense Newt is spouting.

Romney needs to make positive news for conservatives, so Newt looks even more deranged when he spouts off.

  290. Jasonjack Says:

My closest comparison to this Two words: Howard Dean

  291. Conservative Independent Says:

#289 It won’t work because FNC will continue to cover Newt like he is relevant. That Soledad person on CNN will keep bringing up how she got Mitt to say the gaffe and how Newt is still relevant.

  292. Matthew E. Miller Says:

I think we’re long past the “Dean Scream” point. We’re in the heretofore unimagined “Dean streaking through the crowd with his underwear on his head” stage of the campaign.

  294. Flagkeeper Says:

Apparently Newt’s new contract with America is for Romney’s head! What a loser. If Romney is responsible for his PAC, then Newt is for his own. Now, just because his own PAC went way beyond what was believable and backfired, he must feign righteous indignation as often as he says “frankly”.

  295. Franko Says:

After Florida, some pundits saw positive aspects to Newt’s speech, which, of course, seems strange.

Are there any pundits saying good things about Newt or his speech?

Newt is so determined to take Mitt down now that I can see Newt going third party to stop Mitt from winning over Obama. I can see Newt saying to Mitt, “If I can’t be President, neither will you!!!”

  298. jaxemer11 Says:

How are so many people still backing this clown? What the heck is wrong with people in this country? 95% of what he says is dishonest.

  299. Metro Says:

    #292 & #294: indeed!

  300. Conservative Independent Says:

#297 Mitt won’t. He’s too disorganized and he would need money to run Third Party.

  301. Ozzy Says:

The Dean Scream is mild compared to the Newt Vengeance Tour.

  302. Conservative Independent Says:

    I meant Newt won’t.

  303. Adam Graham Says:

Turnout is down so far in Nevada from 2008, Washoe County (Reno) is off pretty significantly.

That’s bad news for the GOP considering:

    1) In 2008 everyone but Romney and Paul ignored the state.
    2) Delegates weren’t tied to the 2008 caucus.

It indicates some angst about the field.

  304. Freedom for William Wallace Says:

    292. LOL. Dean was crazy but knew when to get out of the way.

  305. jaxemer11 Says:

If anyone deserves to be hated here, it is Newt. It is annoying that the media emphasizes that Newt hates Mitt because of Iowa, as if the hate is somehow justified. Romney is a man of superior character and is a class act. Newt is a petty freak of a human being. There is absolutely no justification for these tirades.

  306. Ozzy Says:

This Brianna Keilar on CNN is nice looking.

  307. Drew Says:

That was hilarious, thanks for sharing.

  310. jaxemer11 Says:

    295 – Yes … Absurdly.

  311. Ozzy Says:

    300,

I’m not saying Mitt will go third party. I’m saying Newt might.

  312. Tommy R Says:

Don’t worry about Romney not making the 20% margin mark. Clark County is Romney’s strongest area in the internal polling.

  313. jaxemer11 Says:

303 – It means nothing. The race wasn’t competitive in Nevada.

  314. Willard Mittens Rombot Says:

Erickson and Nooot are two F^*$$ing a$$H#@!! Mitt should NOT debate Nooot. Mitt doesn’t owe Nooot any respect. Mitt should just tell Nooot that he has complained about every debate, so he’s not going to debate him. There is NO reason for Mitt to debate Nooot. Everyone says that the debate is Nooots only hope, so DON’T give him that chance.

  315. Matthew Kilburn Says:

Ron Paul doing very well in this last, late caucus….which I can’t understand. Since when is he known for strong Jewish support? He’s easily the weakest candidate on Israel.

  316. Joshua Says:

So Newt says he lost only because Mitt outspent him and lied about him. What does Newt think Obama is going to do in the general election?

  317. penny Says:

    http://www.cnn.com/election/2012/primaries/epolls/nv

The returns are just too slow.

Look at the race section… 90% white. And Mitt gets 57% of the white vote… it is going to be much higher by morning.

Clark country which is about 50% of the vote went for Mitt 63% and it isn’t counted at all.

So if CNN didn’t blow it with the exit polls… Mitt should be well above 50%.

  318. Jonathan Says:

    #316:

Well obviously President Obama is going to agree to 7, 3 hour Lincoln-Douglas style symbosiums on how brilliant Newt is and why Obama is a moron. I mean, only an evil person like Mitt Romney wouldn’t agree to this.

  319. Watchinitall Says:

Mitt needs to come out and announce that he will no longer participate in any debates with Newt Gingrich, and he needs to file a national restraining order on Newt before something truly tragic happens.

Mitt’s secret service detail: stay alert fellas . . .

  320. Firecracker (Romney/Christie) Says:

Wow! Ron Paul smoked everyone in the late caucus. This is GREAT news for Romney and BAD news for the GRINCH.

  321. penny Says:

When someone is favored to win by more than 20% that supresses the vote. If your guy isn’t going to win… it isn’t much fun… or if your guy isn’t in trouble… you can do other stuff.

  322. Tommy R Says:

Santorum will drop below 10, Paul move up a few, Newt down a few, Mitt will break 50%.

  323. Matthew Kilburn Says:

“Wow! Ron Paul smoked everyone in the late caucus. This is GREAT news for Romney”

Um……it would have been much better if ROMNEY had smoked everyone.

  324. Dave Says:

It really doesn’t matter if Gingrich goes 3rd Party or not….he doesn’t wear well….and he’s far more pathetic than he used to be. Mitt will look great by comparison.

  325. penny Says:

    292. best of the night…

  326. Joshua Says:

On Fox News, somebody pointed out that Mitt lost some counties today that he had won in 2008 — Esmeralda and Mineral Counties.

Yeah, big deal. He lost Mineral by 2 votes. He lost Esmeralda by 1 vote. The total vote for all 4 candidates in both counties combined was 151 people. These counties are virtually uninhabited.

  327. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    324

Noot as 3rd party would get at least 5% of the vote, PLENTY to guarantee an Obama re-election. We need to be concerned.

If Noot runs third party, let it be known, I will have wished him ill at best.

  328. krissmith777 Says:

Well, that press conference really pissed me off. “I’m going to be positive….oh, by the way, I hate Romney.”

    Good God!

  329. Firecracker (Romney/Christie) Says:

323 — Yes, it would be better if it were Romney. However, Romney will already smoke everyone in Clark County as a whole. Once the returns come in Romney will make it over the 50% mark.

I want to see the GRINCH come in Third that what I saw from that late caucus from other earlier returns from the caucus I attended, I think GRINCH will come in third.

  330. Jerald Says:

If you want to drive a stake in Newt’s heart…ignore him.

The only greater punishment for him would be hellfire….

  331. Ozzy Says:

    324 Dave,

What worries me about a possible Newt third party try is he might take away enough votes from Mitt that Mitt might need in key swing states to beat Obama.

  332. BD1 Says:

Well this Newt 3rd party speculation is concerning. I know anything is possible but do you really think Newt would do this?

  333. Ozzy Says:

“If you want to drive a stake in Newt’s heart…ignore him.”

Does Newt actually have a heart to drive a stake thru?

  334. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    330

The hellfire is inevitably coming. The stake, well, it is coming.

  335. Jerald Says:

Hey, Mitt should keep going to the debates….and take the Secret Service up there with him.

The good men in dark glasses can put Newty in an arm bar everytime he gets out of line :D

  336. corep Says:

@315. pretty sure they stacked that caucus knowing it would be highly publicized

  337. K.G. Says:

There is NO telling what Newt would do. Newt has NO idea what Newt would do. Completely unhinged. The commentary from both CNN and Fox is getting closer to saying it–and they are all thinking it.

  338. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    336

Yes, that is something they definitely would do. Good call.

  339. BD1 Says:

  347. K.G. Says:

    LOL So true.

  348. Dave Says:

    Ozzy,

By this fall, Newt won’t be getting all that many votes…..and as a 3rd Party candidate, people who don’t want to waste their vote won’t cast it for an insane person.

  349. Micah Says:

    347. Newt reminds me more of the penguin.

  350. Jeff Y Says:

344, Ozzy, that image is truly terrifying to me.

  351. Ci2Eye Says:

I’m pretty shocked at Newt. I have never seen a top-tier person running for President who so throughly does not exemplify the qualities of a President. His performance tonight will be talked about for years.

  352. Jeff Y Says:

    He definitely fits the image…

  353. Ozzy Says:

    Jerald,

I think Gingrich would pick Charlie Crist as his VP if he went third party. His supporters like Palin, Perry, Cain would all turn on him in a micro-second if he left the GOP or tried to hurt it with a 3rd party run.

  354. jaxemer11 Says:

Time to call off the rest of the debates Mitt. There is nothing to gain from being on the same stage as that lying mad men.

  355. K.G. Says:

Eric Erickson said, “Newt is Mitt’s worst nightmare.” Uh, no. Newt is America’s worst nightmare. We are in the clutches of a madman and yet Fox and CNN still act like Newt’s still a credible candidate.

  356. Ozzy Says:

“Newt reminds me more of the penguin.”

Yeah, more like Danny Devito’s version of the Penguin more than Burgess Meredith’s version.

  357. Jerald Says:

How about we have Santorum call for Gingrich to drop out of the debates? :D

  358. Ozzy Says:

“Ozzy, that image is truly terrifying to me.”

Which one? Mitt as Batman? Or Newt as Joker.”

  359. Jerald Says:

Nah, I still thing Gingrich is Gollum from the Lord of the Rings…..just with extra pounds…

  360. K.G. Says:

Mitt is Batman and Rubio is Robin.

  361. Jerald Says:

Ozzy, Newt would probably pick Gingrich as VP.

It would be the Newt/Gingrich ticket…

  362. K.G. Says:

    #361: OK. THAT is funny!

  363. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Noot is the lawn gnome from Expedia. Even their voices are the same.

  364. Metro Says:

    #360: The ambiguously gay duo?

  365. K.G. Says:

It IS funny that no one EVER discusses a potential Gingrich VP. Ever. It never occurs to ANYONE.

  366. aspire Says:

354 I think he should stop the debates as well. Everyone knows Romney’s got this thing wrapped up, and his nearest competitor does is call him a liar. More importantly, Obama’s already campaigning against him, and all Gingrich does is run with Obama-like attacks. Why should Romney let Obama have a republican surrogate? All Gingrich can do at this point is try and damage Romney enough so Obama will get reelected and he can run in 2012. I’m not sure that isn’t his design.

  367. jaxemer11 Says:

I wonder how many late caucusers voted twice. There is no way to really know.

  368. Dave Says:

Tuesday, I expect Mitt to cruise to victory in Colorado, and by more than 20 points.

In Minnesota, he will win, but not by a large margin…..it might be as low as single digits.

In Missouri, I don’t know for sure what to expect….partially because I don’t know if Mitt cares. He’s not going to be here….there aren’t any delegates at stake…..and he might not spend money. On the other hand, he has dozens of endorsements by the creme de la creme. So, if I had to guess, I’d guess Mitt.

  369. aspire Says:

361 You think Newt would let Gingrich anywhere near his new young wife? I don’t think so.

  370. ClassyMitt Says:

Newt could be having a mental breakdown. The things he was saying about Mitt was so far out in left field that it sounded pitiful. I hope the pundits see that.

  371. Sean Says:

The harder Newt gets his butt kicked, the more he whines.

  372. Matthew E. Miller Says:

It’s absolutely unbelievable how long Clark County is taking. Why am I still up? When I have 9 am mass? To see if Romney clears 50%? I’m with Jon Ralston- the Nevada GOP is epically incompetent. And I’m too much of a junkie to shrug it off and go to bed.

  373. K.G. Says:

    #366

Why should Romney let Obama have a republican surrogate?

You’re absolutely right; Newt is a surrogate for Obama. However, maybe if Newt’s attacks are crazy enough, Obama can’t use them. They’ve already been discredited as the ravings of a maniac.

  374. Ozzy Says:

“Mitt is Batman and Rubio is Robin”

And Newt is The Penguin, Rick Perry the Scarecrow, Santorum the Riddler, Palin the CatWoman, Callista is Poison Ivy, Ron Paul is Rha’s Al Ghul, Biden is The Joker, and Obama is Two-Face.

  375. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    368

Santorum could easily win MO. PPP has him leading there and Mitt has not been there once in the last 4 years. It will be the final nail in Noot’s coffin. The better Santorum and Mitt do, the worse off Noot is.

  376. Matthew Kilburn Says:

“It’s absolutely unbelievable how long Clark County is taking. Why am I still up? When I have 9 am mass?”

11 AM for me….might decide to sleep in and go to the 5 PM service at the Newman. In any case, I’m out for the night. I’ll post the updates tomorrow.

  377. Micah Says:

I am certain that Newt is surrounded by people that are feeding his ego. Newt is living in another world where he is god’s gift to conservatism. This man is a suicide bomber for the GOP.

  378. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    372

You summed up my feelings exactly.

  379. Jonathan Says:

Okay, I would just like it pointed out that for all the crap that people give to Florida for that whole 2000 thing, our primary was probably the most efficiently run and counted out of the whole cycle. IA and NV couldn’t count their way out of a paper bag.

  380. K.G. Says:

#379: Maybe it’s the dang caucus thang.

  381. lutie Says:

when do clark co results come in

  382. jaxemer11 Says:

It is amazing to me that there are still people that defend Newt. They must really hate Mormons.

  383. Matthew E. Miller Says:

Here’s the worst part: some of tomorrow’s papers are going to print soon. And Romney’s margin is about 15% lower than it’ll ultimately be. It’d be great if they could finish counting soon, so that tomorrow’s papers could read “Newt defiant as he gets beaten into the asphalt”.

  384. Heath Says:

    Any chance Newt comes third?

  385. Heath Says:

If Mitt were to be hit by a bus tomorrow (god help us no) do we have to end up with one of the the mustketers? Can we bend the rules about a new entry being on the ballots? Obama would SMASH any of the other three (yes even Santy).

  386. ClassyMitt Says:

What a contrast. Mitt looked so good tonight compared to Rick and Newt. They looked and acted like bad losers. IMO they sure didn’t give voter’s reason to give them their support.

  387. K.G. Says:

#385: I’ve thought the same thing. We would have to go back to scratch and find someone new. That’s how bad all the ABRs are.

  388. Firecracker (Romney/Christie) Says:

The thought of Newt as the joker from The Dark Knight. They both have that drive of doing anything and everything to achieve their crazy ends.

  394. K.G. Says:

#389: Here’s what’s making me crazy from Victor Davis Hanson:

Gingrich should carefully play a tape of his post–Nevada caucus performance, and then he would quickly grasp that it was little more than a litany of excuses, whining, and accusations — characterized by stream-of-conscious confessionals and rambling repetitions. And, I think, will hurt him more than anything yet in the campaign.

Hanson, no dummy acts like Gingrich could “quickly grasp” anything by listening to his tape. Newt is too far gone to understand anything of what he’s doing and saying. His anger over Mitt has overwhelmed his cerebral cortex and he is beyond making sense or see himself in anything but a perfect light.

It’s making ME nuts that people still act like Newt is a normal and viable candidate who just need some advice. Newt needs the men in the little white coats. And throw in an exorcist for good measure.

Why can’t people who should know better not getting it with Newt?

  395. lutie Says:

388 where do u see clark coming in

  396. barktwiggs Says:

I just read Newt’s statement on how Nevada has a lot of Mormons in it, thus guaranteeing Romney’s victory. Nevada is only 11% Mormon, so how does that explain why 74% of caucus-goers did not vote for him.

  397. Watchinitall Says:

Newt’s idea of a fair race is for his opponents to surrender whatever advantages they have and to leave Newt’s past alone.

In this unique way, Newt is a Socialist masquerading as a conservative.

  398. Jman Says:

    Mitt is the man!

  399. K.G. Says:

Actually NV is only about 7% Mormon and no doubt a bunch of those are kids. Others are parents who have to stay home with the kids on a Saturday and cannot caucus, which takes 1 1/2 hours rather than just running in to the polls to vote–or mailing in a vote.

They say that about 22% of the actual caucus goers are Mormon though; Mitt got 90-something support from the Mormons. He got 66% of the Catholics and over 50% of the evangelicals. Even if NO Mormons had voted, Mitt still would have won.

    Meds for Newt. Now.

  400. Ozzy Says:

“The thought of Newt as the joker from The Dark Knight. They both have that drive of doing anything and everything to achieve their crazy ends.”

Newt at Arizona Debate to Mitt- “You’re looking at me funny Govenor Romney. Oh, it’s my scars. Wanna know how I got my scars? I was at home with Callista, cutting some potatos with a cutting knife when I saw on the TV, one your Mitt Romney approved negative ads on me. I grew so angry I accidently sliced myself with the knife. Callista screamed in horror and I told not to worry. I just put a smile on my face. Do you want me to put a smile on your face, Governor Romney? Come on Mitt Romney. Let’s put a smile on that face!!!”

Mitt- “Mr Speaker, I rather discuss the serious issues facing this great nation of ours.”

Newt- “Issues? Serious? Come on Governor Romney! Why So Serious??” “D

  401. jaxemer11 Says:

397 – Exactly. It is mind-boggling to here people say Mitt was unfair for exposing Newt’s records. Newt viciously calls him a liar on a daily basis, and yet Newt has yet to point to a single lie.

The fact that the media doesn’t call him on this BS is more maddening than Newt saying it in the first place.

  402. BD1 Says:

The SNL skit tonight was supposedly about Newt as President of the Moon.

I don’t know, it seems a little far-fetched. The moon people are much smarter than that.

  403. Ci2Eye Says:

Given the utterly stunning performance of Newt tonight, where are his supporters? Where’s Tele, Smack, Harold/Craig, Nancy, etc. I’d love to hear a Newtist’s take on his press conference.

Perhaps Newt is crazy like a fox. He was so unhinged that he has perhaps stolen the thunder from another big night for Romney. I suspect in the morning the words “Romney, win, Nevada” will share headline space with the words “Newt, bizzare, press conference” and for that feat perhaps Newt deserves credit but I’d love to hear how Newt’s supporters see it.

  404. Keith Price Says:

    391. One reason might be cost. My state of WA is in a budget crisis and normally holds primaries. This year, they’re switching to a caucus to save a projected $10 million.

  405. Common Cents Says:

Newt is having a nervous breakdown before our eyes. That has to be one of the most disgusting Primary press conferences in my lifetime. The “Mormon” comment was especially sickening.

I’m thinking the best thing for Romney is to just start the general election campaign and ignore Newt, Romney can’t be dealing with him until the convention. It’s clear Newt knows he’s going to lose, he’s just about maximizing damage to Romney’s chances.

I know it’s delusional, but I’m hoping some of Newt’s “life lines” like Rush and Hannity will finally come to realize that this has gone on long enough and will turn on him. It looks like Newt’s main donor, Adelson, is already talking to Mitt Romney.

  411. ClassyMitt Says:

The lower voter turnout could be due to people moving to other states for jobs. Nevada has 12.25% unemployment.

  412. Micah Says:

I think there might be a recount and Santorum wins by 42 votes. Come on! This is a joke!

  413. barktwiggs Says:

Don’t tell me Iowa Truck guy is working the Vegas Caucus circuit now? He’ll never make it through The Strip!

  414. ClassyMitt Says:

Why is it that there are just a little over 16,000 thousand votes counted with 44.6% precincts counted?

  415. Micah Says:

    414. Because these other precincts are much larger than the ones counted.

  416. Joshua Says:

Seriously, what the heck is wrong with the Clark County Republican Party? Did they forget how to count or something? They only had one caucus in the evening; all the others were earlier in the day. Yet most of their results are not in yet.

  417. ClassyMitt Says:

    #414

I wonder how many caucus goers’ there are.

  418. krissmith777 Says:

    414.

This is why I hate caucuses. They can take so long.. Thank God I’m voting in a primary, not a caucus.

  419. Heath Says:

Mitt is going to break 50% and beat Mitt 08.

    This is a great night/morning!

  420. asparagus Says:

Ia CNN just going to show the actual counting? Put Briana back on my TV. Jeez!

  421. Jerald Says:

Are they still counting, or did everybody just pack it in until tomorrow?

Something like, “Whew, finally got that after dark causus meeting wrapped up and the folks out the door! OK, since Romney’s already won this thing, let’s just head home and I’ll see you folks in the morning for the count.”

  422. asparagus Says:

In case anyone is still waiting,

    http://www.journalreview.com/news/article_f0681932-aa20-5557-83a5-bc56ae9eb1d6.html

Caucus count could take all night. They are counting every ballot.

  423. Jerald Says:

    Hey asparagus…Thanks!!

The addiction is just too great :(

I’ve just got to know if he bests 51% 8)

  424. Jerald Says:

    asparagus

So it’s going to go on all night, but no updates for us addicts?

OK, time to get a life…

  425. Tommy R Says:

    Romney 48, Newt 23, Paul 18, Rick 11 (71% counted)

  426. Heath Says:

    Damn :( .

  427. NightOwl Says:

@315: C’mon man, you’re at least as much of a political junkie as I am. You surely know as well as I do that Paul’s position on Israel is the strongest of the candidates, by a very large margin. A couple of refreshers: Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke before Congress last year, and advocated that Israel be treated exactly as Paul has been saying he wants to treat Israel. Independent, self-reliant, and autonomous. The video isn’t hard to find on youtube if you’d care to watch it.

Paul is the only candidate who proposes cutting the foreign aid spending in the region. Since we give more money to the countries surrounding Israel than we do TO Israel, this has the effect of bolstering Israel in relation to it’s neighbors. No other candidate weighs in with any detail, so it’s safe to assume that intend to continue the practice of paying the neighbors of Israel regardless of their hostile actions towards the country.

Here’s a couple of links about exactly that: http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=5001 which discusses how the palestinians pay people who are convicted of terror crimes and/or in israeli prisons.
http://www.meforum.org/1926/does-foreign-aid-fuel-palestinian-violence On December 17, 2007, eighty-seven countries and international organizations met in Paris and pledged to provide $7.4 billion over three years to the Palestinian Authority

So yeah, foreign aid is what is fueling and paying for the violence. If you were having trouble putting food on the table for your family, and you knew that by sitting in a prison cell for a few years your family would recive a very nice paycheck that would pay all the bills and then some, would you want to sit in that cell, or would you prefer to watch your family go hungry? I’m sure many people would find that an easy choice to make.

It’s only surprising to me when Jewish people choose to support any OTHER candidate.

  428. Jerald Says:

But Heath, Clark Co. has only reported for 50.4% of precints and Mitt is at 57.4% in the country with 5,133 votes so far, so he could well get another 5,000 votes by the time they are done counting. That will surly boost his statewide percentage, which is at 47.6% right now…

  429. Jerald Says:

It also looks like Newty is going to squeak out a 2nd finish over Ron Paul by a few hundred votes…

  430. Jerald Says:

    …2nd place finish…

  431. Matthew E. Miller Says:

If you do a linear projection and assume that CNN’s 71% currently in estimate is right, I get Mitt finishing up at 50.442. So I think Mitt’s still quite likely to finish over 50%. Unfortunately, all the news coverage is going to occur when he’s below 50%.

  432. Fredrick (Romney/West) Says:

I posted results from several precincts from Clark County. Romney was winning HUGE in Clark County when I saw some of the results. A few precincts in the Summerlin area had Romney at 80%. I do believe Romney will make it over the 50% mark.

  433. Florida Conservative Says:

    Fredrick,

Thanks for all of your work, it is well appreciated.

Hopefully we will know the final count by this afternoon so the news can pick it up.

I’m hoping Romney can get to the 52% mark at least.

  434. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    PPP Polls:

    Colorado:

    Romney – 40%
    Santorum – 26%
    Gingrich – 18%
    Paul – 12%

    Minnesota:

    Santorum – 29%
    Romney – 27%
    Gingrich – 22%
    Paul – 19%

  435. Jerald Says:

Need to step it up in Minnesota….We can’t afford to give the other candidates any oxygen… 8)

  436. Teemu Says:

In 2008, when Romney won by almost 20 points in Minnesota, he was underpolled by like 25 points, so being even isn’t that bad.

In 2008 Romney was 3rd in polls in Minnesota, but won the caucuses clearly. Relatively to population other caucuses tend to have at least 3 to 4 times lower turnout than Iowa caucuses, even if the race is still competitive, which makes them pretty hard to poll.

In 2008 Nevada caucuses the best poll got Romney’s victory margin over 22 points lower, RCP Nevada average was off by over 32 points.

The best Colorado caucus poll underpolled Romney’s victory margin by 22 points.

    Minn. Pub. Radio 01/18 – 01/27 2008
    McCain 41
    Huckabee 22
    Romney 17
    Paul 5
    Giuliani 6

  437. Matthew E. Miller Says:

I’d like to see Santorum get some Oxygen. Maybe Newt will finally pass out. So I’m rooting for Santorum in Minnesota and Missouri.

  438. ogrepete Says:

I just got up and checked the page. I can’t believe Nevada can party all night, but can’t get all their votes counted in one night. This is embarrassing for our party. :(

  439. Reginald from Texas Says:

Yep, we need Bachmann and Pawlenty to deliver Minnesota. There is a reason that Romney went there first after Florida

  440. ogrepete Says:

Bachmann hasn’t endorsed Mitt, or anyone else, for that matter. She won’t be “delivering Minnesota” for anyone.

Tim Pawlenty, on the other hand, has been a super stud advocate. I’ve been extremely impressed with him.

  441. ogrepete Says:

    Hehehe.

“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Maybe they’re just never going to tell us what happened. :)

  442. Keith Price Says:

    440. Really? I’m grateful for his efforts. He’s been everywhere for Mitt. More than anyone else. But, I haven’t found his advocacy to be all that impressive. He just hasn’t been good at making the case for Mitt.

  443. SGS Says:

ogrepete – yeah, with about 11k votes altogether, they should have wrap it up quickly. Apparently, the people of Las Vegas cannot count beyond 21 (yes, hidden gambling joke here).
