Coming off the South Carolina drubbing, Romney gets some good news in the form of an endorsement from northwest Florida’s most widely-read paper, the Pensacola News Journal:
For The GOP Nomination: Mitt Romney
Four years ago, this newspaper endorsed U.S. Sen. John McCain in our state’s GOP presidential preference primary… This year, for the Jan. 31 Republican primary election, we recommend former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
[W]e feel that Romney has some of the best ideas in the GOP field not just for the nation, but for our area.

These newspaper endorsements are generally worthless unless the writers put editorials on the front page or use bias in articles.

Fannie and Freddie will be to Newt in Florida what Bain was for Mitt in SC. Team Romney is flaying Newt today, and Newt is already waffling on releasing his F&F contract.
Going to be a rough 10 days for Newtie.

The newspaper endorsements meant didly squat in SC.

does mitt keep going no matter what place he lands in fl a week from tomorrow night?

normal states like ME and NV are up after the South so he’ll stay in

Establishment hacks and liberal newspapers lining up behind Mitt are not proving as helpful as a few conservative endorsements have for Newt.
Mitt (the era of Reagan is over) has played his hand badly and now must attack continually.
this will backfire on him.

greg, why don’t you buy a magic 8 ball and ask it those repitive annoying questions. You’ll get a more invigorating discussion with the 8 ball than you will with us.

Newspaper endorsements DO matter…..they’re just not decisive. What’s obvious is that Newt has to be brought DOWN. It was easy to do that in Iowa and New Hampshire, and it could have happened in SC except for the bad news cycle and Ron Paul taking aim at Santorum…..so, for the first time in the campaign, Newt was the consensus choice of the lowest common denominator.
Paul’s not doing it, so it’s up to Mitt’s Super Pac.

Conservatives and Republicans can’t read, so this doesn’t help.
Unless the newspapers are sold with red meat inside.

Some of you sound like you need to go and have yourself a good cry
it might be theraputic

It’s not therapy….it’s policy….it’s the country.
Learn to love Obama, or support Mitt.

11, I’m going to get a head start on the former, as the latter looks very unlikely at this point.
This nation is stupid. People are stupid.
Thomas Hobbes is correct.

Would Newt be our first mentally ill President? Newt is a historian, perhaps there are others just as bonkers that he would be in line with.

I heard on CNN while I was watching the SC returns that it is almost certain that Governor Jeb Bush will endorse Romney. John King reported it and seemed certain. But on reading reports today, it looks as though Bush is neutral. We’ll see.

Although Romney has likely cost himself the nomination since finally being exposed as the cream-cheese fraud of a man and a Republican (conservative couldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as Romney) that he is, an endorsement from a pathetic newspaper in the thankfully-forgotten destitute cancer of our once-proud-but-now-for-sale-to-the-most-corrupt-candidate state, this can’t help Romney, but it can only hurt him.
Although I can’t support or vote for either of the two front-running clowns, it will be most entertaining to watch the RPOF collectively squirm as “their guy” goes down in flames….piss off J. Thrasher, L. Curry, M. Hightower, M. Haridopolis, Plakon, C. Graves, and the rest of you corrupt public gangsters…it’s like McCollum all over again! boo ya!
