Today on Fox and Friends, Rudy Giuliani took issue with The Occupy Republicans:
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who ran for President in 2008 and dipped a toe in the waters of the 2012 contest, professed himself “shocked” by Newt Gingrich ’s attacks on Mitt Romney ’s private-sector career during a “Fox and Friends” appearance this morning.
Giuliani asked, “What the hell are you doing, Newt? I expect this from Saul Alinsky! This is what Saul Alinsky taught Barack Obama, and what you’re saying is part of the reason we’re in so much trouble right now.”
Giuliani broadened his criticism to include the attacks on Bain Capital launched by both Gingrich and Texas Governor Rick Perry, who he described as “a very close friend of mine.” “I’m shocked at what they’re doing,” said Giuliani. “It’s ignorant and dumb. It’s building something we should be fighting in America, ignorance of the economic system, playing on the dumbest, most ridiculous ideas about how you grow jobs.” He characterized the attacks on Romney’s private sector career as “unfair and bad for the Republican Party.”
Perry endorsed Rudy in ’08.

That RINO!
January 12th, 2012 at 9:33 am
So, it’s a universal pan, then.
This thing is OVER.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:39 am
Guess Rudy wants the AG job after all
January 12th, 2012 at 9:41 am
Everyone knows it’s dumb but Newt can’t help it. Newt’s speaking from his heart. He believes workers must control the means of production. Rudy should just let Newt be Newt.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:42 am
Go Rudy!!!!
January 12th, 2012 at 9:43 am
BC,
Indeed, indeed. Without controlling the means of production workers are alienated from the product of their labor. I’m happy Newt’s bringing this veeehry important perspective.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:43 am
Guys,
Rudy hates Mitt. He bashed him last time he was on F&F.
He’s truly upset. This is not political BS. He hates Mitt, but Noot and Rick made him angry.
And he’s not alone.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:44 am
Who would have thunk that the not Romneys would turn Romney into the not Romney candidate?
You not Romneys are awesome at politics.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:47 am
MassCon, Rudy may hate Mitt, but he knows how this is going to end. He wants a position in the next administration, and he’s beginning to pivot.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:50 am
Rudy doesn’t hate Mitt. He hates Obama… he just strongly dislikes Mitt.
What Newt and Perry are doing trumps Rudy’s “intense dislike” of Mitt.
– And they fall into the pit that they dug for Mitt. Classic.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:52 am
Glad to hear Fox and Friends is TRYING to get some balance….
Letting Noot spout out CONSTANTLY on the Fox channel his hatred and vitriol towards Mitt……..is NOT good for Fox’s integrity!
January 12th, 2012 at 9:53 am
But Rudy, you’re not blinded by vain ambition!
We can’t expect you to relate to Newt or Perry.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:02 am
This is interesting. Rudy really does despise Romney. But he apparently despises people who attack the Free Market capitalism that made New York City so wealthy & prosperous. Venture capitalism requires a huge amount of risk & Giuliani understands this. Not all businesses that get the investments of venture capital firms survive and these investments do not go without a substantial amount of risk. It’s a sad day when Republicans join the liberal bandwagon & attack how money is made in this country. Perry & Gingrich are sounding like closet Marxists.
And if anyone missed it this morning, even Sarah Palin joined this chorus today & said that Romney should explain himself & Bain’s actions. It’s truly despicable. Palin can NO LONGER be considered to be a conservative champion since she attacked capitalism today too.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:05 am
Guiliani’s quotes above . . . if delivered well, would make one hell of a campaign ad, eh?

The curtain is coming down and the fat lady begins to sing…
January 12th, 2012 at 10:09 am
13, yep. Palin has always just been a populist evangelical who championed working-class ignorance. Not an actual conservative.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:12 am
Also, contrary to the inability to read people suffered by many of the ABR folks, we Rombots have sensed this the following all along. I remember Pres. Theordore Roosevelt’s theme, “Speak Soft and Carry a Big Stick.” Well, that’s Mitt–The Gentleman with the killer instinct.
Enjoy…or weep…depending on who your candidate is…

#14 Jeff……….GREAT idea!! I would love the hear about some hard hitting ads in SC calling out Mr. I’m So Smart!
#13…..Agree…….Palin has spun herself into a corner!
January 12th, 2012 at 10:14 am
#16 I think it was on CNN…..where Wolf said that he heard….. that auditions were being held by some rather rotund women….. Had to smile!
But ……. Romney fans can’t take ANYTHING for granted until it is finished at the RNConvention! I’ve heard much chatter about the Paul fans wanting a brokered convention. If coming in 2nd place w/delegates…..
January 12th, 2012 at 10:17 am
IMO we need to reign in all greed – whether it be corporate, government, or unions. I have no clue how to do that when all of them are run by humans.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:17 am
Palin is sailing into the Rush waters…..Turning into a jellyfish word monger to try and prop up the only support she has left, dim wit RINO teavangelicals, so she can keep pushing their buttons to get them to cough up more cash.
If she ever was a serious politician and spokesperson…..she not any more….She finished.
The only thing left for her to do is fulfill the fanasies of psuedo-conservatives.
It’s a sad day…
January 12th, 2012 at 10:17 am
Palin was never a free market republican. That’s why she stuck it to the oil companies when she was governor of Alaska.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:20 am
Sorry for truck load of typos today.
I’ve been up working 48 hours.
Maybe I should get some sleep before coming here.
It must be an addiction…

>>But ……. Romney fans can’t take ANYTHING for granted until it is finished at the RNConvention! I’ve heard much chatter about the Paul fans wanting a brokered convention. If coming in 2nd place w/delegates…..
There isn’t going to be a brokered convention. What Paul wants is a bigger say in the Republican platform for his libertarian beliefs and probably a bigger place for Rand in the future.
This is very doable and if played correctly might help bring some Paul supporters into the fold for the November run. That would be huge.

#21 Granny T
Your post reminds of the statement, “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.”
It’s a bad idea to assume every successful venture is backed by greedy people.
Greed is a win-lose paradym, whereas success is win-win.
But as you say, if there are people, some of them will be greedy people.
As Republicans, our job is to make sure we don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater…
January 12th, 2012 at 10:31 am
#24…….haha….yes, there is an “addiction” in trying to get this political stuff for the RIGHT Hope and Change!
#21 Granny T…………NUMEROUS reports/business guys have had MUCH GOOD to say about Bain Companies while Mitt there. After the corruption and greed with the SLC Olympics ……..do you think they would go ask a greedy, corrupt business guy to come in to “fix” the wrecked organization????? NO, they wouldn’t. Mitt used conservative principles to make that one of the most successful Olympics……shortly after 9/11. Don’t believe and don’t assume everything. I have to remind myself of that.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:32 am
#25 Boomer……thanks for the perspective on the brokered convention! I do agree that some of Paul’s points need to be infused! (not the fp stuff……although GREAT caution does need to be used in ANY decision!!)
January 12th, 2012 at 10:36 am
28.
ccr – If you notice, Paul never really goes after Romney very hard. In fact, he was quick to jump to Romney’s defense on both the “I like to fire people” line and on Newt’s attack on Bain. He knows that he is never going to be the nominee and Romney is the overwhelming favorite.
Politics, strange bedfellows and all that.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:39 am
“It’s building something we should be fighting in America”
Well said.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:42 am
#29, Boomer…..yes, I have noticed that about Paul. I know that Mitt is the kind of guy that will show respect for Paul’s ideas and Paul can feel OK about it…….even though they don’t see eye to eye on everything.
Thanks for the perspective about “brokered convention”.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:48 am
I wonder if Bachmann was winning if Gingrich would be trashing her experience raising foster kids. Probably with a line like, “if she really cared about these kids she would have adopted them rather than throwing them back out on the streets.”
Then he’d probably blame Obama’s anti-family rhetoric as the reason why people misinterpreted what he was saying.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:49 am
15. I though dead people were only allowed to vote here in Chicago.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:56 am
With Gingrich’s recent attack on capitalism, and how he calls Obama a socialist, is it fair to call Gingrich a socialist now?
January 12th, 2012 at 11:12 am
34. no
January 12th, 2012 at 11:12 am
13 – Bill Kristol did too. These people with Romney Derangement Syndrome will say anything to hurt him.
January 12th, 2012 at 11:28 am
yeah, bill kristol does not like romney and it pains him to see romney win…its actually pretty funny to watch.
January 12th, 2012 at 11:35 am
21 – Sigh … when you can tell me how Romney was greedy, corrupt, or unethical I will listen to that. Just throwing out bombs about how terrible Wall Street is is NOT honest. It is the equivalent of occupy Wall Street.
No one disagrees that there are unethical people in business that sacrifice their moral standards to make a dime. No one has provided ANY evidence that Romney is one of those people.
January 12th, 2012 at 11:39 am
The new attack line is exactly the one Granny T is pushing in 21. The RomNots are now accusing people of arguing that all capitalists are bad. No one is arguing that at all. There are bad people that thrive in the capitalist system. No one is saying each and every attack on unethical business practices is wrong.
But there is no evidence that Romney is such a person, and to say you are merely “looking at his record” is complete and utter bullcrap.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:01 pm
All those wall street types are evil because they never had to eat squirrel to survive and so they can’t connect with the common man.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:04 pm
#21 Granny: “We all need to reign in greed?” No, we don’t. We need to reign in greed in our own hearts, but there’s nothing we can do about other’s greed just like we can’t do anything about pride or lust in the hearts of others.
All “we” can do is encourage our legislators to pass laws consistent with the Constitution in order to protect the rights of others.
Granny, don’t go to the dark side on this. Mitt didn’t break any laws, engage in any corruption, didn’t violate anyone’s rights, steal from anyone. It’s not greedy to make money in America–especially when you’re as generous as the Romneys.
One of the reasons our country is in such a mess is that people who don’t want to take risks, don’t want any accountability, want more pay and benefits that people in private sector and want never to be fired go to work for the government.
If you want to attack country-killing greed, attack the public employee unions, not honest, tax-paying, risk-taking, Constitution-loving American businessmen.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:14 pm
Rudy said it best: “Ignorant and dumb.” That would sum up anybody: Newt, Perry, OWS, and the entire class warfare movement from way back when.
This is the basis of the Bolshevik Revolution. It is the basis the proud “early 20th century Progressives” (see Hillary Clinton) that inspired Marx, Hitler and Mussolini–or was it the other way around? This is the basis of Jeremiah Wright, James Cone, Barack Obama and the whole Black Liberation Movement. It is the raison d’etre of Allende in Chile, Castro in Cuba, Mao in China.
This is the whole “useful idiot” ploy. In fact, some pundit yesterday called Newt and Perry “useful idiots.” Do ya’ think?
January 12th, 2012 at 12:19 pm
I’m a Mitt supporter, but if the Ron Paul delegates want to write the planks of the GOP platform dealing with budgets, deficits, and the national debt, I’d be inclined to pretty much let them do so. Heck, if Ron Paul was willing to be director of the Office of Management and Budget, I’d support him for that.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:24 pm
Since when do Newt and Sarah think that transparency in the business world should be the same as transparency in government? Private equity firms like Bain Capital are responsible to provide a reasonable amount of transparency to their shareholders but they also have to protect their intellectual and private property. Newt is tring to create the illusion that Romney is being secretive but apparently has not considered that it would be unethical for Romney to discuss all of the details about certain deals that resulted in lost jobs.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:29 pm
I would like to see Rudy run for the U.S. Senate from NY this year against Kirsten Gillibrand. He could help stir up enthusiasm among NY Republicans and boost the chances of the Republican House candidates from the state. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s shown any interest in doing that.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:32 pm
If you want to attack country-killing greed, attack the public employee unions, not honest, tax-paying, risk-taking, Constitution-loving American businessmen.
I thought I hit it all. Or did you miss “government or unions” in my comment above. If only we could get people to follow the teachings of Matthew 7:12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
I have numerous times said that I don’t like negative ads. I wish ALL of the candidates and their supporters would have followed Reagan’s 11th commandment. And for the record – I don’t like how personal greed is affecting our country either. It is just as sickening to see the “occupy wallstreet” protesters complaining that their not getting enough. IMO the American dream never meant that the rich were supposed to give a bunch of deadbeats that dream – but that all of us are supposed to be able to work toward it ourselves. What ever happened to the idea of people starting businesses to profit not only themselves but also their communities? Are the Ken Hendricks of the world a dying breed?
January 12th, 2012 at 1:02 pm
46 – I guess “tens of thousands” of jobs created are not profiting thier communities? Get real. Also – a reminder that Mitt has not taken a salary in 10 years – how many others can say that?
January 12th, 2012 at 1:13 pm
For those trying to explain Newt’s beliefs or possible rationale for his various attacks, here’s what I believe is the reality…
Newt’s attacks have zero relationship to his beliefs. He has only one criteria for what he says: Will this take down the b-turd who stole my presidency from me?
He firmly believes whatever he does or says is fair game because he deserves the White House and America needs Newt.
January 12th, 2012 at 1:26 pm
I saw the full segment. Talk about manipulation of facts! Talk about a big nasty manipulation of facts, this is it. I’m sorry, I thought I’ve seen just how biased and nasty the press was, but this is just unreal the way this is being spun. If I’d not heard the interview, I’d believe it, but I saw the interview. That’s not all of what he said. He was not nasty, said what THEY ALL WERE DOING – not just Newt – as this is framed – was dumb.
Rudy said his choices in order: Newt, Rick Perry, Santorum, Huntsman. He said that he did not consider Romney consistent in his beliefs and was not a consistent conservative. Said Newt was far superior and the better person for the job. He also said the approach needed to be about Mitt and his record as a job creator, which he is not being honest about. He said he created a half million jobs. He would love to debate Mitt about it.
He was NOT nice about Mitt, not at all, but that is not how this is presented. Just unreal. He all but endorsed Newt. It is obvious he can’t stand Mitt. He said that Newt and the two Ricks were his friends. Said they were very good men, far better than Romney!

Granny T (#21) Sorry, but greed is a deep-rooted human characteristic. There is no way we can get rid of it. Even Christ struggled with it, when He asked that the bitter cup be taken away. Fortunately, he showed his willingness to complete God’s will immediately afterward when he said “Thy Will, not mine, be done.”
No, the best way to combat greed is that we fight it within ourselves (hence the importance of religions). Second is that we limit the ability of the person to abuse others (natural rights and balance/check approach). Lastly, we need to be educated well enough to have a discuss based on Reason (approach to thinking alike to the Founding Fathers’ period, of sort we see with Federalist Papers, nothing like our discussion nowadays). Yes, we have lost those understandings and abilities. We need to restore them in order to get the greed under control, but it is all about individuals, not institutes. There is no way we can have a successful society-wide program to rein in the greed of the People.
January 12th, 2012 at 1:31 pm
Granny T (re: 50) Sorry, I hit submit button before I found the correct scriptural quote regarding Christ’s brief struggle with his greed:
January 12th, 2012 at 1:36 pm
46 – Granny T. I thought you cared about being fair. What on earth does unethical corporate greed have to do with Romney?
January 12th, 2012 at 1:37 pm
#34 We can be safe to say Newt is a statist. Socialist, I’m not so sure, but a populist statist, definitely.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:18 pm
#46 Sorry, Granny. I did miss the union and government mention. However, I believe it’s a big mistake to conflate honest, law-abiding business with government. Apples and oranges.
Corruption in business can be checked by laws. Greed and corruption in government can be checked by no one–unless greedy voters vote in non-greedy politicians. We see how that’s working. This is why Mitt is running–to actually check government borrowing and spending in order to buy votes from greedy takers.
You are right; this whole problem is caused by greed. Greedy citizens who empower government to steal for them. Who was it that said America will fail as soon as the masses discover they can vote themselves other people’s money? Tocqueville?
Mitt is the solution, not the problem, to government greed.

#53: We can be safe to say that Newt is a nut.

Newt is still running the “vulture ad” on Hannity just now. So much for a change of heart.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:25 pm
Somebody needs to do a political cartoon: Perry/Newt as vultures picking clean the bones of free-market capitalism.
