  1. soopermexican Says:

i hope he has a GREAT week right after the New Year…

  2. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Is it “Gingrichs” “Gingriches” or “Gingrich’s?”

    LOL. No idea.

  3. ogrepete Says:

John McCain and Newt Gingrich have very little in common – personality wise. They do, however, have similar-looking wives.

  4. Ozzy Says:

    3,

The one thing they have in common is they like their wives to be like 20 years younger than them. John is 75 and Cindy is 57. Newt is 68 and Callista is 45. They like their women young and are willing divorce their former wives to marry their much younger mistresses.

  5. K.G. Says:

#3 All trophy wives look alike?

  6. K.G. Says:

#4 Ozzy, you beat me to the punch.

  7. Matt "MWS" Says:

Holy crap. Callista is only 45 (I looked it up, because I didn’t believe it). She’s only 10 years older than me. She closer in age to me than Newt!

Did she really think she was going to be First Lady someday hitching her wagon to that star?

She would have been better off marrying an 80 year old oilman and taking the money.

  8. Virginia Says:

Use of Plurals: When names end in “s” , “x”, “z” , “ch”, and “sh” , add “es” Adams = Adamses, Henrix = Hendrixes, Menendez = Menendezes, Gingrich = Gingriches …

  9. Sir David Says:

Wow. That video was really straight-forward. It was really to the point. The two of them clearly introduced themselves and then had an united message.

No frills, just “happy new year”.

    Very succinct.

    Very efficient.

    Very clear.

Why did they make that video again?

  10. K.G. Says:

#9 Because they knew losers like us would be spending New Year’s Eve on Race????????

  11. Loose Era Says:

It’s (a contraction of “it is,” indicated by the apostrophe) “Gingriches” which means more than one of them. “Gingrich’s” is singular, possessive. Like “It’s hard to believe it, but Gingrich’s chance of winning Iowa is less than Santorum’s.”

Like to think I am above judging others on looks, but Calista is no trophy wife.

    HNY

I’m not sure, but I suspect botox has something to do with it…

  13. Jerald Says:

As for the New Year’s greeting…No cute animals…..I’m bummed.

Maybe it being the year of the dragon, Newt found it difficult to come up with an appropriate warm and fuzzy.

He should have had Callista dress up an alligator like those ladies like to do with poodles and chihuahuas…

  14. MarqueG Says:

The video is almost as short as Newt’s stint as flavor of the minute.

  15. Barney Says:

Stirring! I am almost moved to tears.

  16. Machtyn Says:

    8. Wow! Having an X on the end of a name also adds a “D” to that name? (hehe)

  17. rightgal Says:

YES! Just the example I want in a first lady for my daughters! Sleep with older married men! Then, when they FINALLY get divorced, marry them! No wonder Callista keeps Newt in line of sight 24/7! She KNOWS what she’s got in a husband! (and he knows what he has in a ‘wife’)

  18. Greg Says:

looks like the DNC is having a press conference today in Iowa with a man who was laid off by Bain when Romney was there. The DNC is doing its best to influence the GOP primary

  19. Alvin Says:

    18,

Yes, the DNC have not even attempted the whole “it doesn’t really matter who emerges as the GOP nominee” tactic that is usually used in election cycles. They view Romney as the biggest threat and it shows. I think their efforts are in vain, but it is interesting to note that they are making them.

15: It was a pretty stirring performnace! I’ve replayed it 25 times, I think it’s just the way Newt looks into the camera that gets me so! Happy New Year Newt!

  20. Alvin Says:

    13,

No, no animals. I don’t know if I could have handled it if Newt would have had an animal with him as he sincerely spoke to the 15 people who have watched that video.

  21. MarqueG Says:

Yikes! J-Hunt fires the Crazy Cannon at Ron Paul:

  22. MarqueG Says:

    I’ve replayed it 25 times

Does this mean that you’re now 25 years in the future?

  23. Alvin Says:

    22,

Yes, I guess it does. Not a better way to bring in every new year than to watch that video! I do have good news to report from the future though: Newt does not become president

  24. rightgal Says:

18, They forgot to interview MY husband who was laid off when Obama took office, and contracts went bye bye.

  25. John Mark Says:

“looks like the DNC is having a press conference today in Iowa with a man who was laid off by Bain when Romney was there.”

So they finally got in touch with Casuists brother? Or is it Sojourner Truth?

  26. Tuna Says:

conservatives who support newt are actually supporting romney by blocking santorum. As a romney supporter I laugh at newt supporters for doing our dirty work. Thats’ why we moderates run the party. Conservatives are too dim witted to strategize a way to power.

  27. Matthew Kilburn Says:

    http://news.yahoo.com/gingrich-romney-buy-white-house-could-171359210.html

Looks like Gingrich is back on the demonize-mitt-because-he-has-money kick.

  28. Matthew Kilburn Says:

“Thats’ why we moderates run the party”

As probably the strongest backer on this site, I resent and reject the “moderate” label.

  29. Tuna Says:

reject what you like. Romney the moderate will rule the party due to the incompetence of conservatives who can’t do simple addition and subtraction…

  30. aspire Says:

The ironic part is Gingrich is so last year. :)

  31. aspire Says:

27 Gingrich really is the anti-Mitt in that regard. Instead of putting money into politics in order to help make change he believes in he takes money out of government in the process of making changes he doesn’t believe in.

  32. Alvin Says:

    30,

    Brilliant! Well done!

A little off topic but didn’t want to post this on the infinite reanctments of the religion wars taking place below, Did anybody happen to catch Santorum on Meet the Press today? And if so, how did he do?

  33. Matthew Kilburn Says:

Kavon – how about a pre-caucus prediction thread tomorrow? I’ll keep track of the predictions and figure out who came closest when we get the final results on Tuesday.

  34. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    33

    YES!

  35. Ci2Eye Says:

I really wouldn’t put her in ads. Every time I see her, I think mistress, homewrecker, May/December, trophy wife, potential Third Lady of the United States and none of those conjure up positive images.

Newt is better on his own talking about policy and big ideas and all the ‘Calista and I’ imagery only reminds voters of his baggage.

  36. Keith Price Says:

    35. But, at least she’s young enough and pretty enough to be the president’s wife. Sadly, Mitt’s not in the market!
