Obviously, the Santorosurge is concentrated in Iowa, where he’s been living. It will be interesting to see over the next 3 days if it shows up nationally, before Iowa votes.
Newt is doing worse in pretty much all the early states than nationally, which indicates that more engaged voters are rejecting him.

Give em hell Mitt!

Only Romney and Santorum are rising at the moment

Huntsman defined his candidacy by trying to attack Romney
December 30th, 2011 at 1:33 pm
Huntsman is pathetic. No more, no less.
December 30th, 2011 at 1:37 pm
Reggie and Micah,
Chill your Rombot selves and watch the video. He was attacking Ron Paul.
So now you can love him, and talk about how awesome he is.
December 30th, 2011 at 1:40 pm
Santorum is already less than a percentage point behind Newt on Intrade.
But Ron Paul still beats both of them.
December 30th, 2011 at 1:43 pm
Think so? It seems to me that the window for charitable Rombot remarks in favor of anyone else was opened and abruptly slammed shut last Sunday.

Rick Santorum is probably one of the three candidates that wouldn’t make me think long and hard about voting for Obama. That said, he’d likely be a disaster for us Social Conservatives. He’d lose by about 20 points and then we’d hear in the next election about how we need a Guiliani type Republican if we’re ever going to win again.

3 That’s Ronpol, not Rompol
December 30th, 2011 at 2:10 pm
3. How did we get “Rompol” as a reference to Ron Paul?
December 30th, 2011 at 2:10 pm
11. I’ve seen “Rompol” referenced on Race42012 multiple times and never understood the reference. Could it be a consistent typo? Or, is there a meaning?

I don’t know. It’s always MarqueG who says it, and I have no clue why.

MarqueG, I hope you’ll forgive a few days of well deserved gloating by Romney supporters.
We have endured months of attacks and gleeful gloats with every FOTM surge.
We have endured weeks of folks, here, telling us Mitt has made terrible campaign mistakes that would be the end of him ($10k bet, negative ads, not finding a demon to attack, not connecting with voters, etc, etc).
Some Romney supporters began to despair in their comments. Some, like me posted a messages of confidence.
But, it’s really, REALLY nice to see that Mitt had it under control and that things SEEM to be playing out well for him.
It’s only natural that some supporters would want to have a little “in your face!” fun.
That said, I grew to hate Santorum in the debates. He was whiny and nippy and in that one debate extremely rude to Mitt (which of course was his unpardonable offense, for me). When he refused to let Mitt answer his attack (by talking over Mitt’s answer) and then snarkily pronounced, “Your time is up, governor”, Rick was dead to me.
BUT, I have to admit that if I were to put that aside, Santorum is probably the only other candidate I could really be ok with as our nominee and as president. His policies are reasonable and he appears to me to be very principled.
I can’t see him ever beating Obama, though.

“Rompol” is what a true Paultard would say. The alveolar nasal “n” elides into a bilabial nasal “m” to match the bilabial stop “p” quite effortlessly for those in a hurry. And Paultards are always in a hurry to get to work stuffing another online poll. Little time is left for enunciation.
It’s just the phonetic rules of English that we all live by.

16. Thanks for the clarification, MarqueG.

BREAKING NEWS: Bachmann, Santorum fail to qualify delegates on TN presidential ballot
The delegate process in TN seems to be very complex and the failure of Michelle and Rick to qualify delegates does not mean they can’t get ANY, but it does appear to limit them.
AND, it adds to the theme of a lack of organization and leadership.

17 and 18. (oops. sorry about that, chief.)
December 30th, 2011 at 2:57 pm
Keith, I appreciate your honesty. For my part, I’m not too very emotionally invested in the race. Whoever gets the nomination, I hope we defeat the O-Man. Even though I’ve presented my hypothesis of Mitt being a weak general election candidate, I hope he proves me wrong should he be the nominee. I really want this ridiculous and incompetent administration ousted. The rest is just haggling over the details in the interim. Might as well make the best of it and enjoy a chuckle or two along the way.

Marque,
That’s two linguistic lessons in a week! You’re going to have to start charging for this crap.

Paul gets big endorsement. Steve Forbes was the only other candidate able to garner enough support for an RLC endorsement.

#10 Santorum couldn’t even win re-election in his own state and that’s what people are remembering about him. He’s unelectable in the general.
