Newt is going down big time along with his nonsense on global warming and national mandates etc. Newt is a disgrace to the party. That video of him and Pelosi is very telling.
Nicely produced ad compared to some. Though basically untrue from a lone term gov that was far from a conservative while creating and then launching Romneycare mandates, big government exchanges, and collecting massive subsidies. Not to mention, $50 abortions and 47th in job growth under Willard’s watch.
2. Sean, that’s a very, very old meme. It’s been documented time and time again that Mitt has really only one change in position, and that’s on Abortion. Everything else is a twist on words.
There ARE a few statements he made in his ROOKIE year, when he first decided to give politics a try, running against Ted Kennedy. He said some things that don’t sound very conservative (though, I could actually explain most of them away). But, all rookies make mistakes.
From the time he began running for governor, he’s been completely consistent in his conservative positions.
2. The ironioc thing is that Newt Gingrich has flip-flopped on so many more key issues than Romney has. Gingrich has always gone wherever the money is.
6 There have been some other subtle changes. Most if not all of which I think reflect the changing situation we’re in financially. The flip-flop argument is a goal-line stand though. They can’t go after his positions, they can’t go after his record in an HONEST way, so they have to try and portray him as not really meaning what he supports.
Ironically, Romney is viewed as more honest, and less phony than Gingrich so it’s obviously NOT working (like Obama).
I like that ad. I think Romney has to thread the needle here between bringing down Gingrich and elevating himself and the tone is critical. This ad strikes the right note.
The chorus is getting pretty loud out there from the opinion makers that maybe Gingrich does not have the temperment and morales to lead. I’m hearing it everywhere now so I think Romney himself should stay positive in all his messaging.
I remember all too well when Romney began to lose in ’08 and went negative against Huckabee and it totally backfired. Mitt looked like the fat-cat rich guy will millions to spend beating up on the poor little preacher from Arkansas who couldn’t fight back. The voters ultimately sided with the guy being beaten up and from there, Romney was crippled cleaning the way for Johnny Mac’s comeback.
I know everybody is telling him to go fight and earn this, and he should, but he has to be extremely careful.
Anyone who REALLY wants to help Mitt Romney should consider this…
We hear from a lot of you that want to help the campaign, but don’t know how – this is a great place to start. You will be instrumental in delivering Mitt’s message to voters that will be casting their ballots in just a matter of weeks.
Join thousands of supporters from all 50 states that have already answered the call for help. Here’s how simple it is:
I still think Mitt will come back, but I’m really starting to fear this is going to be a long cycle…if it is, the eventual winner may not matter very much, because Obama will already be a mile ahead.
One of the RomNots needs to answer this though: how can we remain the party of family values by nominating a twice-divorced, thrice-married, adulterous hypocrite as our candidate? I don’t think we can. And if values and morals and the social fabric aren’t a part of the discussion, then it really doesn’t matter what the economic talking points are.
If I was one of those misguided socons in Iowa who think they will betray Jesus by supporting Mitt, I would put Rick Santorum on my back and carry him to the finish line. That kind of power would send a signal that the socon agenda has not been forgotten. But Newt? You might as well stick a fork in traditional values because they are soooo done. This is the guy who said he preferred it a certain way because then it “wasn’t” intercourse. Riggght…. And this is your standard bearer on traditional values? I think if the media pushed Newt to support gay marriage as President, he would do it to stay popular.
Keith, it’s old, but it’s true. Abortion’s not the only change. He’s also changed positions on the bailout, immigration, the individual mandate, and gun control. To be sure, I’m not saying that to compare him to Gingrich, who’s no better, just strictly talking about Romney himself. Gingrich has his own set of problems.
#25 – The only people who believe the flip flops have been disproven are rombots. Non-rombots believe Romney has flip flopped on at least 10 issues. In fact, he’s flip flopped three times during this calendar year.
Agreed. Newt is the polar opposite of what the Republican Party is supposed to stand for in terms of family values. He is worse than Clinton and how the SoCons came rationalize voting for him in beyond comprehension.
The SoCons are going to expect the President to defend “traditional marriage” and protect the institution of marriage from the marriage equality crowd and Newt is the man they are going to send in to do battle on that front? Really? He has zero credibility. Maybe even less than zero credibility on that issue.
As Asparagus said, why don’t they push Santorum if they Romney isn’t acceptable. At least then they wouldn’t look like total hypocrites.
The only people who believe the flip flops have been disproven are rombots.
Pablo, that’s because people like you are unwilling to believe the truth. You’d have been right at home with the folks who insisted the world was flat long past the time it had been proven otherwise.

“We can choose a leader we can trust.” Why does this not sound like Mitt Romney, a man who has more positions than the Kama Sutra?
December 9th, 2011 at 11:54 am
Question is, when does Newt flip-flop and break his pledge to not attack Romney? Then again, without a nickel to his name, I doubt he’ll be able to.
In other news, Donald Trump is considering cancelling his debate. LOL!

Good riddance, we don’t need another Democrat debate. I’m sure Rush Liberal will be angry though.

It’s over, Romney can’t even win his home state where his dad was Governor.

4. Craig. You’re reposting crap that has already been proven false.
Mandates were considered conservative until Obama adopted them. AND, Romney was never for NATIONAL mandates.
He did not do big government exchanges.
$50 abortions was NOT his doing.
And, there’s no reason to have huge job growth when you’re already a state with one of the lowest unemployment rates (which MA was at the time).
I broke my boycott on you due to the new rules in hopes that you’d start posting REAL content.
Any chance of that?

Gallup National Tracking Dec 4 -8
Gingrich 37%
Romney 23%
So either Dec 3 that dropped off was a big Romney day, or Dec 8th was a big Gingrich day, or…….oh just forget it.
Will see if TV ads move the needle in this cycle……it may not.

I believe this ad or something very similar will be played in NH replacing Thune with Sununu and Ayotte.

Sean,
You MUST know that Mitt didn’t change his position on ANY of those things!! Do some homework.
Every one of those has been successfully refuted on this site TOO often to be taken seriously by most of the people ON this site.
