Gov. Mitt Romney received three major Cuban endorsements out of Florida today. Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) and former Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart have all announced their support for the former Massachusetts governor. The three Florida representatives are Cuban hard-liners who supported John McCain on his way to victory in the 2008 Florida Primary.
“The policies of the past three years have put America’s standing in the world at risk,” said Ros-Lehtinen in a statement put out by Romney’s campaign. “It is time we had a president who understands that our country must lead. Mitt Romney believes that America is an exceptional nation and has a strategy to restore our country’s greatness. The Romney plan for economic growth will create jobs and opportunities for all, especially for South Floridians, who are passionate in their pursuit of the American dream.”

Nah, not a game changer. Romney was always going to win Florida. This just helps seal the deal.

You are absolutely right. It is a very good sign. It’s not the endorsements themselves it is the 250,000 republican Cuban voters that they pander to. It shows also that they didn’t through in the towel against Mitt over immigration like the media thought. And yes it certainly be a game changer especially in that winner take all state.

I forget, has Rubio endorsed anyone?

Go Mitt!

Cuban Latinos are not necessarily on the same page as Central American Latinos on the immigration issue. Cubans here today are either decedents of pre-casto immigrants, or refugees.

This is good for Romney, gets him some positive press in FL. However, he needs a better strategy to combat Gingrich’s surge and the DNC attacks. Gingrich was on the offensive yesterday in SC and the DNC released that devastating ad and I have not heard much of a response at all from the Romney campaign.

Poor Newtrons, they are wondering how on earth will they compete in Florida with nearly every pol in the state endorsing Mitt and 8 media markets for the poor in dept Newty to compete in.

9. Don’t cry for us…Maxintina.
We have the people on our side. They have more votes.

More endorsements for the best GOP candidate. Great news for Romney!

Yea the people are on your side, but were on Cain’s side last week, and Perry’s side the week before, and Bachmann’s side the week before.
Flailing does not make a winning coalition.

ZZZZZZZZ. This qualifies as material worthy of a FPP?

Gee, let me think. Three of the most important Latino politicians in FL who went for McCain last cycle and helped tip the state to him are now behind Romney.
Nah, lets focus on some poll nobody has ever heard of instead.

In an interview yesterday, Rubio said that since he was “helped” in his election by some of the candidates, he will probably not endorse anyone in the primary. He also said, once again, that he won’t be anyone’s VP ..

Romney would have won Florida comfortably in 2008 except for 2 things:
1. He lost the Cuban vote bigtime.
2. The last-minute Crist endorsement of McCain.
This time he will win the Cuban vote, and reading between the lines, these 3 leaders of the Cuban community wouldn’t have endorsed him if he was unpopular among Cuban Americans. I doubt if they would have done it if Rubio were opposed to Romney, and Marco has 6 or 7 former members of Team Mitt on his staff.
This is, by far and away, the MOST significant news of the day.

#3 drob. Florida is not a “winner-take-all” state this year. People keep acting like the old rules apply but this cycle is completely different. As long as a candidate has the money to last and can pick up delegates in all the states prior to April 1st, they have a chance to make things interesting.
