What was the Undecideds, please?
November 29th, 2011 at 11:46 am
Well, we have one month for the Grigrich boom to go bust or its going to be a long campaign.
It does appear that as of now, the ABR vote is gathering behind Newt.
Will the “coallition” hold together?
November 29th, 2011 at 11:46 am
Things are looking terrible for Romney and the country.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:47 am
Go Huntsman!!
Romney’s numbers are dropping?
but…why?
November 29th, 2011 at 11:47 am
#1 – Don’t know. Behind the paywall. It was 5% in the last poll, and can’t be more than 7% this time around.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:48 am
This is a disaster.
The UL will be running daily editorials bashing Romney and praising Gingrich until Jan 10. It can only get worse from here, unless Romney unleashes $18 million in ads in the final 2 weeks leading up to the primaries.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:49 am
4
Because of the buzz behind Newt.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:50 am
Given Gingrich’s numerous political flip flops and poses from farther left Republican to now farther right Republican not to mention his inability to discipline himself, does one finally get to the conclusion that many of the ABR crowd are ………..bigots?? Is it because of Romney’s religion???
November 29th, 2011 at 11:50 am
Huntsman’s high water mark. Interesting….
November 29th, 2011 at 11:52 am
Romney will be on Special Report tonight. Be sure to watch.
Debate Thursday.
Forum Friday
Debate Dec 15th.
He has at least $18 million in the bank to spend on ads and mailers. If he’s saving all his cash right now, he should have plenty to saturate the airwaves in the final weeks of December. I hope he does it. It’s his only shot.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:53 am
Mass Con,
Chill dude. Seriously. If you’re this worried about a disgraced hasbeen like Newt, than you are going to be intolerable against Obama next year.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:55 am
•Gingrich – 24% (8)
Uh-oh, folks.
Say hello to our next president: The Newt
(Hey, we coulda done a helluva lot worse. Like flip flop Mitt Romney, for example.)
Time. To. Unite. Conservatives.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:56 am
Gingrich is serial adulter, paid lobbyist hack, Pelosi loving, Washington insider.
Peryy is the only true conservative in the race.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:56 am
10 – Romney at this time is only worried about the timing of his push. He has yet to lift a finger and will wait for the best time to do it. Now is not it. Career politicians and DC insiders and the ABR’s that force themselves to love them…you gotta love them.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:57 am
11.
When Newt is our nominee, will you be intolerable?
Or a team player, Max?
November 29th, 2011 at 11:57 am
11, I think, as I’m sure MassCon does, that you are severely underestimating the profound obtuseness, hypocrisy, and just plain stupidity of today’s GOP.
I’m a huge Romney guy. This Newt thing is real, and I think it’ll be lasting.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:58 am
Craig, did you just switch candidates… again?
November 29th, 2011 at 11:59 am

#14 – “Romney at this time is only worried about the timing of his push. He has yet to lift a finger and will wait for the best time to do it. Now is not it.”
No, it was a month or two ago.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:06 pm
Gingrich is about to start his fall from Grace. What’s interesting here is that Huntsman has broken into double digits in his has to win state. In stock brokering technical analysis, we would say that Huntsman has broken through his resistance level, and is likely to rise until he hits a higher one. Meanwhile, my guess is that 10% is his new support level.
Some of this decline for Mitt was UL reaction, and some merely reflects the Media’a temporary fixation on Newt….and especially on the part of Fox. Always nice to have an employee in the lead. It won’t last, for reasons pointed out on this site time and again.
Mitt will win New Hampshire. What will be interesting is who will finish 2nd. My bet would be on Huntsman, who will rise in the coming month.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:06 pm
What a week!
Whoa..and it’s only Tuesday!
I love the smell of panicked Rombots in the morning…
it smells like…victory!
November 29th, 2011 at 12:06 pm
So why is Perry staying in this?
November 29th, 2011 at 12:09 pm
23. Using technical analysis, Huntsman does look good…but so does Gingrich.
The problem with for your analysis is, Gingrich has the stronger fundamentals
IMHO

Wingnut,
It was conducted yesterday. Post UL.

CR- I’m begging you, no matter what happens, do not support Romney. Pick any other candidate, even Obama, just stay away from Romney.
The kiss of death has nothing on you.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:10 pm
CR
I won’t be voting for Newt Gingrich. Not in the primary or the general, thought the latter will be a moot point.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:13 pm
Honestly, Giongrich’s wife had to take him to court to get support payments because the utilities wewre going to ge turned off on her and their daughters. The guy is a first-class creep, and yet he is getting no vetting whatsoever. The media is not vetting him, and the democrats are delighted that he is becoming the front runner. Are we going to fall for this again?
November 29th, 2011 at 12:13 pm
Where would Cain support go?
2nd choice of Cain voters on 6 GOP polls this month:
Gingrich 37,
Bachmann 14,
Romney 13,
Perry 12

November 29th, 2011 at 12:13 pm
Again, SMACKDADDY has to point you guys in the right direction.
Huntsman 11% is the biggest story in this poll. The man is gaining traction in the Granite State. Now if you go check out last weeks threads you will all see that SMACKDADDY predicted Jon would be in double figures in the next NH Poll. I was told I was crazy…oh well….
Jon’s FAV/UNFAVS in NH are now getting better and better. Jon is now starting to cut into Mitt’s support and that is why Mitt went after Jon in that last debate.
Mitt needs to get out of Iowa and needs to walk back what his Communications Spokesperson said in regards to high expectations in Iowa. Mitt needs to refocus his message as a “turn-around artist from Outside DC”
I have been saying for weeks that Mitt needs to change it up. The ROMBOTS here have been completely asleep at the wheel.
It’s time for you to wake up Mitt. Get on an “Outsider “ message and drive it home.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:14 pm

CraigS
November 29th, 2011 at 12:14 pm
And it’s official. Craig is now on candidate #5.
Suddenly I feel very confident about Romney’s chances, as Craig gives Gingrich the political kiss of death.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:14 pm
dude,
Gingrich has no chance whatever. Huntsman has advantages that Newt doesn’t possess. He has a background of effective governance. He can actually DO the job. He’s been far more consistent, and he will be a prime beneficiary of Independent and Dem crossover in NH’s OPEN primary. Add the fact that, unlike Newt, he actually has money, and he’s camped out in the state, while Newt will be spending time in Iowa and SC. Huntsman is still a remote threat to Mitt in NH, but Newt isn’t even remotely a threat.
Newt will be blown out of the water before the Primary voting begins.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:15 pm
Of course Cain supporters would go to Gingrich. They share the same kind of personal morality. Birds of a feather, they say

Do any of you watch Survivor? On Survivor, some have a hidden immunity idol that they can play at a time of their choosing. But if they don’t play it and are voted off, than stupid them.
Romney has a few immunity idols that he can play when he wants to. They include huge endorsements that he hasn’t released yet. They include 100 million dollars or more that he can spend if he wants to. But he needs to do something soon because we are only 5 weeks away from voting and he trails by a lot in Iowa and South Carolina, and nationally. And his primary state, New Hampshire, is now closer than it’s been in years.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:15 pm
Remeber when Newt bounced 22 congressional checks in the 90′s and still had a chauffer drive him everyhwere in a Towne Car while other congressme and women drove themselves. Newt is all about being respected and praised by others, but he is terrible with money and in hios personal life. He is a train-wreck waiting to happen

He also loved the Dallas Mavericks and St. Louis Cardinals last year.
And I think he favorite movie last week was Twilight- Breaking Dawn. But that will change in a week or two.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:18 pm
The immunity card he has to play is “Getting surrogates to educate the masses on Newt”. I spoke to family members over Thaksgiving dinner, and none of them even knew that Gingrich had cheated on his first two wives, or that he made millions lobbying for big companies, or that he had been ousted as speaker of the house for ethics violations. These are college-educated people that had heard nothing of these issues.

November 29th, 2011 at 12:28 pm
32.
Smack – with all due respect, this was a perfectly foreseeable situation. There was always going to be a not Romney candidate that low information voters would coalesce around. It’s been happening the entire election and this is just another example.
Newt has been getting a tongue bath from the msm and particularly right leaning outlets for the last couple weeks because the expectations for him have been so low and he has been doing nothing but toss red meat to the faithful. That period is coming to an end as people start to look at his actual record and policies. His immigration plan is a joke. Yes, lets outsource it to MasterCard and VISA and give amnesty to some arbitrary group. That will fly. He’s been all over the map on foreign policy and domestic policy and if you think the support for Romney is thin watch what happens to Newt as the scrutiny increases.
Huntsman has done nothing but campaign in NH. He has poured millions of his dad’s money into the state while ignoring every other state and he is the left’s favorite candidate. Not a negative word is ever said about Huntsman. And you think it takes great insight to realize he was going to eventually get a rise in his polling? Really?
We have entered the final stages of the primary cycle. Now is when money and more money and organization start to kick in. Romney was locking down FL this morning by getting the Latino leaders on board and he will starting the interview cycle tonight on Special Report. Romney will be ramping up the advertising with money nobody else can touch. And his organization in Iowa, which is more extensive than almost all the other candidates, is gearing up.
Thanksgiving polls are interesting but they are hardly predictive of where we will be in 5 weeks.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:34 pm
43…I’ve been sampling all of my associates about Newt as well…they don’t know anything about him, but when you watch Fox, they say all of Newts baggage is out there and everybody already knows and accepts it. So the right won’t be vetting him, if Romney does, he’s just a soul-less negative campaigner, and the left won’t lay much of a finger on him either. What a wierd set of circumstances we find ourselves in folks.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:37 pm

Everything I said about Newt rising when Newt was 6% was challenged by the ROMBOTS.
Everything I have been saying about Mitt needing to change it up was challenged by the ROMBOTS.
Everything I said about Mitt making a huge mistake about his “Iowa Campaign” is turning out to be correct.
Everything I said about Mitt declaring that Florid is the state where he will seal the GOP nomination as being a HUGE MISTAKE has turned out to be correct.

People of a certain age, I would say those 40+, know Gingrich rather well. The 90′s were a big deal, no need to run through all the issues and drama. Freddie Mac and other issues that arose post-politics are not as familiar, but generally people know who Gingrich is, where he stands politically, and even what kind of person he is. No one is going to call him warm and fuzzy. He is a known quantity.

52.
Smack. Not by me. Anyone who thought a concerted and relentless attack on Romney by the left and the right wasn’t going to bring his numbers down was kidding themselves. But you insistence that Romney is doing nothing is betrayed by the facts. Romney has always had the strategy of running a pretty conservative, general election campaign until after Thanksgiving. He learned his lesson last time by over exposing himself to early and having his campaign burn out late in the cycle.
Early state voters are famous for being very fickle and jumping on the next shiny thing. They love to take down front runners and show how (cough) thoughtful they are. Romney’s strategy has always been to build the biggest field organization, check, attract the most endorsement from local, state and federal influence makers, check, and then make a big splash after Thanksgiving.
He started today and he won’t be letting up the rest of the campaign. Just watch.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:47 pm

Newt is surging, there’s no denying that.
But I still say that Mitt wins NH, Nevada, and Michigan for sure.
Mitt’s got a path to the nomination. If it ends up a two-man race, it will be the businessman vs. the lobbyist.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:55 pm
If Romney has a strategy I am not seeing evidence of it. Gingrich went on the attack yesterday. I’ve heard no response. Dems released an attack ad, I heard a muted response. New polls show Gingrich surging, no answer. Maybe the media isn’t reporting it. But I went to Romney’s site and saw nothing.
I will make a little prediction of what we will begin hearing in the msm – “Romney not fighting back,” “Is he a fighter?”
November 29th, 2011 at 12:57 pm
Smack-
This is a very interesting read. GIve you a lot of insight into the small government, movement conservative that is Newt Gingrich.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-11-29/tauzin-s-11-6-million-made-him-highest-paid-health-law-lobbyist.html
You know who Billy Tauzin is, right? He was one of Newt’s chief lieutenants in the House after he flipped from being a Democrat.
And surprise, surprise, he became one of the highest paid lobbyists in DC for PhRMA, the same organization Newt took millions and millions from over the last 8 years.
You think this stuff isn’t going to come out? Dream on.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:58 pm
30. the media is not vetting him – yet. If he gets the nomination, I can promise you, he’ll get vetted like McCain did!

Yawn. Newt’s doing what it takes to win a news cycle, but Romey’s organization is positioned to win the nomination. This really won’t be close.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:04 pm
Smack,
You might be interested in Joe Scarborough’s column in Politico today. He excoriates Mitt and Gingrich as the true RINOs in the race and pronounces Huntsman the True Conservative in the race. While his use of quotes is specious, there is a rationale for his conclusion.
Naturally, his quotes from Romney are all old, and I agreed a lot more with his disparagement of Newt, but the logic for a Huntsman rise was fundamentally sound.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:06 pm
Oh, KER-SNAP! WIllard is fading to an ignominious shade of beige as the cycle develops to its inevitably NOT-Willard conclusion!

Rombot, Dream on!
After the non-Romney sweeps IA/SC/FL — whoever that is takes Nevada rather easily.
Romney needs literally more home states like NH, Michigan, and Utah — or he’s toast.
Oh wait, he lives in Cali, too.
But if he loses IA/SC/FL once again, he loses Cali once again. Darn it!
What to do, Rombots? Hmmm….drop out and endorse Mike Huckabee!
November 29th, 2011 at 1:10 pm
Zing!
November 29th, 2011 at 1:11 pm
64,
Probably so, but it will be too little too late then. To me it has become obvious that there is a sizable portion of GOP voters who just do not want Romney. Attach a name to it, call it bigotry or media opportunism or whatever you want, the reality of the anti-Romney “movement” is disconcerting. I don’t put anything past people, because they are after all people. It is not beyond them to discount Cain while accepting a guy cut of much of the same cloth. It is ironic to say the least
November 29th, 2011 at 1:12 pm
Who knew that the McRomney McMansions would become an electoral boon? He should build McRomney McMansions in every state and territory of our troubled republic to satisfy his titanic other-worldly vanity.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:12 pm
Dave,
The next thing that Huntsman needs to do is get his FL numbers up to 7-8%. That will probably take another 2 weeks. I know Jon doesn’t want to push any of his resources or time away from NH…but FL is deeply important in his “Pathway to Victory” scenario. FL is the place where Jon is running is campaign out of and he has some family roots there.
If Jon can create his campaign “moment” in the next week or so……look out!
I also think Jon, just like Mitt, needs to pick a fight with Michael Moore or someone in Hollywood or the Liberal establishment/elites.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:13 pm
It would be a start.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:14 pm
51. I agree. Bachmann isn’t going to dent Newt. Huntsman is playing for ’16 and his only imperative is knock off Romney, Santorum is just background noise, Cain is gone, Perry is a laugh track, etc.
It looks like Newt will have a great January, Mitt will have a great Feb, and then the big edge goes to Mitt. I don’t see the money or the endorsements headed to Newt, and tv gets more important with every passing day, and tv is money.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:15 pm
73,
I would have discounted any such talk as crazy even a month ago. But who knows? I have growing doubts about the sanity of our populace

Newt offers BLATANT support for federal mandate in 2005:
http://gop12.thehill.com/2011/11/gingrich-supported-conditional.html
This is the guy you want to repeal Obamacare? Not the guy who exercised state’s rights?
You all said Romneycare was the problem. How about a GOP nominee who supports…Obamacare? Is that what you want?
Apparently.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:21 pm
I think if Romney underperforms in NH, and Huntsman can tick up to third place…Romney will be out by Super Tuesday and the race will be gingrich vs huntsman
November 29th, 2011 at 1:24 pm
Mitt has not gotten his message across recently.
He SAID that the biggest thing he learned from 2007 is to make sure voters know why you’re running.
Has anyone here heard why Romney is running, in the last month?
I sure haven’t.
I had to stop and think about it.
Last time I heard it, he said “I’m a Conservative businessman, I spent 25 years in the private sector, and I will use my experience from business and government to turn this economy around.”
When was that?
More than a month ago.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:25 pm
Smack,
This race will take some interesting turns between now and its conclusion. Huntsman is about the only NotRomney with serious upside potential at this point if/when Gingrich falls.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:25 pm
79, agreed. He needs a multistate ad blitz like NOW, plus news show saturation. I keep waiting for this big push. When will it come?
He needs to stop playing ball control and start going for the end zone.

I’m afraid he and his campaign are not aware of what I said in #79.
They are focusing on inevitability right now. They need a change in tactics.
Mitt has to sell himself directly, as in: “Vote for me, because I’m a Conservative businessman, and I will use my experience to turn this economy around.”
Right now, his only real talking point is “I’m convinced that if we have a president who knows how to lead, and will lead with integrity, he can draw on the patriotism of the American people to solve problems.” – But that’s not an effective selling point. He needs to SELL it.

Nice to see Ron Paul constantly moving up as voters in Iowa and NH begin to know more about who he really is.
He’s polling about twice in those states as he does nationally.
He needs to win Iowa. He needs to bury the idea that he’s just a candidate running to make a statement. His biggest statement needs to be that America really wants more than the debt slavery we’ve sold ourselves.
Ron Paul is the true conservative, and has been for decades. Neocon “nation building” foreign policy is a fantasy and a gross misuse of America’s prestige and military power that will accelerate our decline as military overextension has a whole host of other great civilizations. America is respected only when it uses that power wisely and cautiously. To see the train wreck coming, the decline of American power as our debts threaten to destroy us, and to do nothing is not conservative. We must put first our own house in order.

Massachusetts Conservative,
There you go, now you are sounding like SMACKDADDY.
“Vote for me, because I’m a Conservative businessman,”
Better yet,
Vote for me, because I’m the “Outsider Conservative businessman,”
Mitt needs to use the term “Outsider” to contrast himself from Newt & Obama …”The Insiders”
I think we will start seeing this very soon.

I hope so, but I’m not betting on it.

59. Boomer, that’s my take, too.
Smack, you have overgeneralized about the pushback on your comments from Rombots. How many people actually challenged you on those points.
Of course, I don’t actually consider myself a Rombot because that suggest an auto-response, lacking individual thinking. I think a LOT about this and I’m a firm Romney supporter. NOT a BOT.

79. MassCon, in the past 30 days, I’ve seen him on Cavuto. He did the first Google+ town hall on Fox Special Report. He’s done a few other interviews.
I agree with Boomer. He’s been laying low and about to open a big ol’ can of whoop-tush. Watch out!

two weeks from now CR, Tele and Casuist will be prasing another candidate that is having a good week.
It is funny (and kinda sad) that people like CR, Casuist and Tele claim Romney has no core beliefs when they switch political beds like a 2 bit hooker. Where are your principals Craig, Tele and Casuist???

Dougie Solis,
How are ya? Gotta be hurtin’ in NYC. Ouch!
Told you this would happen.
CONSERVATIVES like Huck, Palin, Newt, The Ricks, Cain, Bachmann, and even Huntsman AND THERE SUPPORTERS can’t stand “Mr. Blue State Willard” any more.
Fork him!

They would have you believe they oppose Romney simply because he passed a law requiring everyone to have health care, or because he now opposes abortions when he supported them 6 years ago.
But that’s not it at all. They all have their own reasons.
CR is a spineless wussified excuse for a 30 year old living in his parents’ basement.
Casuist is a rabid hater of Romney’s personality and demeanor.
And Teledude feels a need to oppose anyone he perceives as “establishment.”

I beg to differ, CraigS. Cain supporters will not go to Newt. I have been a fervent Cain supporter and if/when he drops out I will switch to Romney. Newt is a great “speaker” – and we already have one of those in office.
It seems so ironic to me that people continue to bash Romney on his “past” yet all of the things Newt has done – as recent as this year are OK because he is now a grandfather? I just don’t get it. Newt is the one and ONLY Speaker that has -ever- had 84 ethics violations filed against him.
If you REALLY think Newt is “the” conservative alternative to Mitt, then read this and then prepare to be sick. bit.ly/rqIQTH <-That was just in 2009!
