This was one of the dumbest things I have seen. Apparently, even his daughters are so ashamed of him they have to wear Groucho Marx disguises, at least that is what I got from it.
Ah, the YouTube thing. After Cain himself, Block has become the face of the Cain campaign after appearing in a now-viral Web ad that features him – and his now-famous drag on a cigarette. Block says the ad has been seen by more than 3 million people…
“Consistency I think is very important,” he said, “You may not agree with me on everything, but you don’t have to wake up in the morning and wonder is Rick Perry going to be the same guy in two years that he was two years ago. And the answer to that is yup, he will be.”
Pressed by hosts to criticize Romney by name, Perry said Romney has changed positions on gun rights and the Obama-passed health care law.
“Like it or not, the governor has been on opposite sides on a lot of issues,” Perry said. “He was for banning handguns, now he’s Mr. Second Amendment. He was the father of Obamacare.”
As I said earlier, most people are still in the “angry” phase of the five stages of grief. This is why we are seeing the candidates continue to take cheapshots at Mitt rather than debate substantive points. Bargaining is next. When these guys realize the train is leaving the station, they’ll start making nice. I can tell you this: taking shots at Mitt might keep his national poll #s under 25, but its not going to make an impact in the early states where voters are paying attention. So let the naysayers continue to mock and make fun of Mitt. Mitt will be laughing his way to the nomination soon. None of these guys have a prayer. Being a jerk and showing envy by Hunstman isn’t helping him in New Hampshire.
27. You don’t have to wonder what side of an issue Rick is on, you just have to wonder if he arrived there without being paid off first. You just have to wonder whether he will be able to explain his thinking on the issue, if he arrived there by thinking in the first place, and you have to wonder if, against Obama, he would be able to string three sentences together and make sense to anybody. You just have to wonder if he can put together a campaign that isn’t as negative and obtuse as he really seems to be.
Now that was actually good. Very funny at the end. Huntsman will get his share of free airtime with that. I can see Leno and the late shows playing it. Not sure it’ll make anybody want to vote for Jon though.
“He was for banning handguns, now he’s Mr. Second Amendment. He was the father of Obamacare.”
FALSE.
Is Perry lying? Or, uninformed?
Romney was never for banning handguns. In fact here’s a great quote from NRA:
GROVER NORQUIST from the board of directors of the NRA:
“Guns and Romney. Romney’s position on guns is flawless … I went and worked with the governor back when the D’s were planning on passing a restriction on 50 caliber rifles in Massachusetts. And he committed to me that he would oppose any restrictions… his position is fine.”
And…
Saying MassCare is the father of ObamaCare is like saying using prescription drugs properly by those with proper symptoms is the father of drug addicts.
27. Here are a few things to consider about Perry’s own flip flops…
He characterized abortion and gay marriage as issues best left to states. After consternation from social conservatives, Perry flip-flopped and called for constitutional bans on both.
While not quite the level of a flip flop, he did say his executive order of the vaccination for girls was “a mistake”. That’s a change of position, isn’t it?
He hinted that Texas could secede from the Union. Is he still for that?
Perry tells the group, “When we came into the nation in 1845, we were a republic. We were a stand-alone nation. And one of the deals was, we can leave any time we want. … So we’re kind of thinking about that again.”
He said he was joking. And, probably was. But still… hmmm
In 2005, he called a special legislative session to use the Texas Rainy Day fund for education. But, in 2001 refuses to do so.
“The governor doesn’t mind using the fund to avoid the embarrassment of not paying our bills for the next five months, but he refuses to use a single dime from the fund to limit the damage to our children’s schools,” Villarreal said.
The Texas governor, once a defender of symbols of the Old South, says his state shouldn’t approve special license plates bearing the controversial flag.
“We don’t need to be scraping old wounds,” he said.
Perry may have “just dug himself a hole,” says Evan McMorris-Santoro at Talking Points Memo. Many Republicans in South Carolina — a critical early primary state that Perry needs to win — will see his Confederate flag “flip-flop” as “pandering.” Remember, the Confederate battle flag still flies over the South Carolina state House, and many voters there bristle when people suggest that it evokes racism.
But Perry had no choice: The Texan is struggling to save his candidacy after a string of “missteps and awful debate performances,” says Tod Robberson in The Dallas Morning News.
He said Social Security should be a state plan, not a federal plan.
“Let the states decide if that’s what’s best for their system” – Rick Perry in Spitzer interview.
But, he’s since said he just wants to fix the federal plan.
And, according to PolitiFact.com
Perry’s not being entirely accurate when he contends that “we never said that we were going to move (Social Security) back to the states.” He came close to that position when he said, “Let the states decide” on Parker/Spitzer and “Get it back to the states” on Morning Joe. But in other comments, he hedged, saying it was merely an idea worth discussing.
re 41–Proof positive that I should wait five mins before hitting “send” on Jon Huntsman articles. (I personally don’t like the guy.) You’re right, stuff like that shouldn’t be said. My bad.
You exactly summed up what I was thinking before I read any of these comments. I thought that this stupid ad would only be popular in Utah culture, not Mormon culture, but Utah culture. To be more precise, Utard culture.
I think the worst part is that Huntsman genuinely thinks he’s so brilliantly witty. If a candidate has his daughters spoofing a second tier candidates commercials, it’s time to pack it up and go home. Huntsman’s family should have pulled him off the stage a long time ago.

This webad is typical of the Huntsman attitude. Only Jon Huntsman has “substance”. His whole candidacy is motivated by jealousy of Mitt.

You don’t see Mitt’s boys running around mocking the other candidates. Jon Huntsman should be ashamed.
