This is a positive ad, a little light on specifics, but a positive ad. On energy policy Romney and Perry essentially agree…..we need to get energy independence, and as fast as possible.
I trust Romney’s judgement to handle the details more than Rick’s, however.
This how Perry should have begun his campaign. Specific and positive. Even his debates wouldn’t have been so bad if he had just stayed positive and sold himself rather than going for petulant, ineffective attacks on Romney.
Does he have a second chance to make a first impression? Most pundits say not, but American’s do have a short attention span.
Perfect – Perry is Teleprompter President 2.0. I trust him to answer an actual detailed question lobbed at him about this as much I trust Obama to balance the budget.
I actually think this ad, while certainly not reinventing the wheel, is pretty terrific. Why? Because Perry actually comes across pretty well doing the happy warrior thing. He looks energized, positive, and assured here, but without the blustery swagger that’s so off-putting to lots of people. I *detest* Rick Perry, but I’m surprised how likable he can be when he’s not being petulant and defensive.
So, Perry’s response to O’Reilly’s question about his campaign performance so far?
Admitting that he never should have opened his mouth without a teleprompter or script and thereby showing the entire country that he’s as dumb as box of rocks. His “biggest mistake” is showing people how dumb he was too fast. Hmmmm . . . there’s a guy you want as president.
This is a pretty good ad. However, there is no light between the frontrunners on this issue, so not much of a help to his floundering campaign. Like the upbeat tone more than the promised “negativity onslaught”, however
Solid ad. It started poorly, as the opening was just a big, empty promise that everyone expects from politicians, and are sick of. At the ending, when Rick said “…countries that hate America….” he looked and sounded like a SNL parody of Bush. The rest of it was good.
Agree that this ad is pretty good… for Rick Perry. He’s much more effective and likeable when he’s scripted and upbeat. Too bad that’s not who he really is. I could support the Perry in this ad. The real one? Not so much.
You really make it appear really easy along with your presentation however I in finding this topic to be really something that I feel I’d never understand. It kind of feels too complex and extremely large for me. I’m looking ahead to your next publish, I’ll attempt to get the cling of it!

Kind of a weak visual/auditory composition, but I suppose the ad is okay.
Not a game changer.

This ad is running for a week and cost $175,000. A decent sized buy for a decently made ad.

What? Canada loves America. And we love to sell you oil!

Does his campaign not follow the stuff that has been put on youtube against him?
I got six seconds into it and started thinking “tuna, eggs, Doritos, cheesecake, tamalle – see ya”
which led me on to the next thought of “Save A Pretzel For The Gas Jets!”

But I’m one of those anti-Perry folk so I’m sure the average IA voter hasn’t seen that clip.

… add running for President before he was ready to this list.

It’s amazing how Perry cannot speak without a lie leaving his lips. (referring to his O’Reilly interview last night).

Rick Perry has spent four and a half months flushing his credibility down the toilet. This ad will not save him. Everyone knows who he really is.

I give it a B.

Kate,
“What? Canada loves America. And we love to sell you oil!”
And we love Canada, and I for one would love to buy your oil!
