  1. Thomas Alan Says:

    Winning is more fun.

  2. CF Says:

The next time I hear, “even my dog catcher could beat Obama”, I’ll punch them in the face. Only ONE guy running can beat Obama, and it’s been proven over and over and over again in the polls.

  3. A.J. Nolte Says:

Would love to see some Obama-Cain head-to-heads.

  4. Pragmatic Conservative Says:

Why would anyone still support Perry when these kind of numbers keep rolling in?

  5. Booyeah Says:

Look at those positives for overall and independents!

Forget Perry and the field, Romney is the only one PERIOD, including Obama, with net favorables!

That’s a very, very interesting poll.

  6. Booyeah Says:

Can everyone go here and vote for Iowa for PPP’s next poll? We need to get a chickity-check on that first round…

  7. Michael NY Says:

Mitt is sweeping Obama across the board.

The number I especially like is that he beat Obama among those with a college degree. This will definitely help in those suburbs that are so important to victory.

  8. Walker Says:

Would you say that Mitt Romney has strong leadership qualities or not?
    Yes 55%
    No 24%

    Wow, nice.

  9. Rick Perry/Jeb Bush 2012! Says:

Conservative Governor Perry from our most conservative state with 10% of the nation’s population (and growing by a thousand more of out of staters moving in daily) is closing in for the kill WHILE moderates and liberals worry about Obama and Obama-Lite Romney :)

    General Election: Perry vs. Obama

    Quinnipiac Today Obama +1
    ABCNews/WP 10/2 Obama +3
    Rasmussen 10/1 Obama +6
    FOX News 9/27 Obama +8

GO PERRY! Perry is by and far the best candidate to win on the economy. More importantly than win, he’ll fix the economy. Texas under Perry is number one in job creation, creating over a million jobs, while cutting taxes, reducing regulations, and passing tort reform. Perry has done such a good job with Texas, that unlike the US, Texas had it’s credit rating upgraded.

This in the same economy Obama is losing several million jobs, AND against Perry, Obama won’t be able to claim it’s the Republican policies that didn’t work. Who else on our side can compete with that, not Romney who was 47th in job creation! That’s for sure.

  10. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

    8

Yes. And that’s why I think Romney has the best chance to beat Obama. That quality is what swing voters look for.

  11. TEX Says:

Ricky Blago Perrych committed political hara-kiri by defending his liberal
    open borders-pro illegal policies.

He’s a dead man (stupid crook) walking.

I don’t get the idea he can “fix” the economy. I don’t know how much Perry really did to generate the facts that you routinely post here. I believe it simply is building on what was done before him and doing it in an already business friendly and red state.

Was Texas in a crisis when Perry took over? If not, then I doubt your facts support him being able to “fix” the economy.

Larry Coker is the reason Miami won the 2001 National Title.

    :) :) :)

    :D

  15. jarvis Says:

#13 He could probably administer over an economy that might need a tweak here and there, but fix it. I don’t buy it.

  16. Sojourner Truth (Give 'em hell, Cain!) Says:

It’ll be interesting to see how the broader Republican electorate reacts now that Perry has a ton of money and he’s tied in the polls with Obama.

If only he could TALK then maybe he could still topple Mitt.

  17. Ben (One of those MittWits) Says:

Is it just me or has Craig gone the way of the Palin folk (ie TEX) and is now starting to spout completely unfounded opinion?

Poor guy. I really feel for him.

  18. Viking Says:

Ditto on Cain polls. First, he has to get his name recognition up. We’ll have a good sense of his strength in a month from now.

  19. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Rick Perry was dealt 4 aces.

Well guess what: The next president is not going to be dealt 4 aces. This country is in trouble.

What has Rick Perry turned around in his whole life? nothing.
What has Mitt Romney turned around? OLYMPICS, Bain & Co, Massachusetts, DOZENS of companies.

    Take your pick.

  20. Sojourner Truth (Give 'em hell, Cain!) Says:

    19 – Perry. By a mile.

  21. MarqueG Says:

What has Mitt Romney turned around?

His political positions, and at a faster rate than a Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheel powered by a commercial V-8 diesel engine.

  22. Sojourner Truth (Give 'em hell, Cain!) Says:

I just really hope that Perry or Cain pulls this off. I’d like to vote for a Republican in the general election.

  23. Pragmatic Conservative Says:

A moment of silence, please, as we begin the funerals for the campaigns of Romney’s opponents.

  24. Sojourner Truth (Give 'em hell, Cain!) Says:

23 – More arrogance. Romney still can’t get above 25 percent support in the polls. It remains to be seen how the rest of the vote shakes out.

Don’t pop the champagne (or for most of the Rombots on here, the Martinell’s) just yet.

If Romney wins the nomination, you will vote for him in the general.

  26. Sojourner Truth (Give 'em hell, Cain!) Says:

    25 – No. I won’t. I’m not kidding.

I’ll vote Constitution Party, content that my home state of NY will never vote for any Republican presidential candidate.

  27. Pragmatic Conservative Says:

If Sojo can’t have Sojo’s way, Sojo won’t play. Sojo will do things that help Obama’s reelection effort just to get back at us.

  28. Sojourner Truth (Give 'em hell, Cain!) Says:

Sojo will do things that help Obama’s reelection effort just to get back at us.

No. But I won’t lift a finger to help.

  29. Pragmatic Conservative Says:

If you “won’t lift a finger to help” Romney defeat Obama, you are helping Obama’s reelection effort.

  30. zeek Says:

My fear is that some of us (including myself) will want to rub these anti-romney people’s faces in their absurd predictions and inconsistent attacks. Some of these people have become so invested that even when you can defeat them in the arguement or volley of snide remarks it is best to step back and let them go unresponded to. They have a lot of dissapointment and crow to eat through without us making it harderfor them to come to the winning ticket.

  31. MPC Says:

Obama is going to crash and burn next year unless Romney himself helps him. Romney won’t run away with it but Obama will never be much closer to winning than McCain was.

Return to recessionary, deflationary conditions is the nail in Mr. Hope’s coffin. He won’t survive 10%+ unemployment. His failure to knuckle down and demand sacrifices from his country like Presidents past, instead of making people believe that the Federal Reserve and huge public spending were his magic wand, has written his obituary. He’s trying to change tack now but sounds like a thief, not a leader.

Romney supporters need to realize that Romney can’t wish away the cumulative effect of thirty years of getting just what we wanted in this country – something for nothing. Americans insist their public officials give them as much dough as possible, then complain when the country is mired in debt and stagnating. That’s called you reap what you sow. I just don’t see the all-star venture capitalist demanding sacrifices from the first organization he’ll ever manage that really doesn’t want to sacrifice.

  32. Pragmatic Conservative Says:

    30. zeek, the anti-Romney crowd is one thing. They have certain perceptions that prevent them from grasping Romney’s true conservative values. We welcome their support as things move along, candidates drop out, and eventually Mitt becomes the nominee.

But certain people attacking Romney make it clear that they are bigots who hate his religion. One of those posters is on this site and has openly stated that if Romney is the nominee, he/she would support Satan before supporting Romney.

  33. Pragmatic Conservative Says:

    31. MPC, Reagan made it clear: government is not the solution; government is the problem. Obama and his big government socialist policies are a huge burden, and the left is demanding all the sacrifices.

Romney will implement policies that will take the shackles off the private sector. The private sector creates the jobs and drives the economy. I do not know how long the turn around will take, but I know that Romney is the best man to bring about the change that is desperately needed.

  34. MPC Says:

The shackles on the private sector are unfortunately quite a bit more hefty than just some onerous regulations like Sarbanes-Oxley.

And some regulations (banking sector regulations like Glass-Steagall in particular) I sure wish were still around. We wouldn’t have ended up in such a bad position were it not for the deregulation of banking that led to a debt explosion. In Reagan’s case too government was unfortunately the problem – it was Reagan’s administration that really oversaw the first massive overexpansion of credit that led to a false sense of prosperity fueled by the money of future generations. That was brought on by banking and financial deregulation.

Turns out the rules to keep people from getting too out of control in risk activities weren’t such a bad thing, at least not for a country that is not willing to let financial institutions fail.

The truth PC is that the private sector cannot grow when overburdened with trillions of dollars in accumulated debts from the past thirty years. We’ve already eaten tomorrow’s lunch. That’s the problem. The old slogans and prescriptions are going to be as futile as Obama’s attempts to move the economy have been. I do not doubt business will feel more secure with Romney as President. But favorable/hostile attitudes are not what is driving the pessimism of business – it is that we’ve already taken away and enjoyed our future growth, before even getting there. Our severely overleveraged (too much debt) condition hangs over the economy like a sword.

Romney ignores it to his peril – America will not be patient with him.

  35. Pragmatic Conservative Says:

    34. You have absolutely no basis for claiming Romney would ignore the debt. Romney, more than anyone, knows the problem caused by trillions of dollars in debt.

You imply that we are all doomed no matter who becomes President.
