Look to see a nice littel bump for Romneyin Iowa and SC after this. Not to the lead, although that would be nice, but to be very competitve and be thisclose to the top.
Based on this photo, it looks to be a congenial and easy-going discussion.
As I posted on the thread that broke this story:
It’s definitely significant and it’s probably a signal, but of what? But all you have to do is looks at all the speculation and attention we’re giving it to know it is meaningful.
If Huck slams Mitt (highly doubtful that Mitt would have accepted an invitation if that were in the offing) than it sends a signal to socons that Huck still finds Mitt radioactive.
If Huck gushes over Mitt (also highly doubtful, and I don’t think Huck is anywhere near making an endorsement) then Huck is sending a signal to socons to migrate en masse to Mitt.
If Huck has a mature and thoughtful discussion (which is what I think will happen) then he sends the signal that it is OK for socons to put down their swords and spears and give Romney a fair look without being considered a traitor to the cause.
It is way too early to tell whether this ever ends up as a Huck endorsement or whether Mitt wo0uld tab him for VP , and both Huck and Mitt know that.
Man Huck has put on some weight. Not that I’m skinny or anything but if I were a public figure and had my own TV show, I would hit the gym almost everyday.
How much weight has Huckabee gained? He looks totally fat again. He must be due for another liposuction. And the good thing now is that he will actually be able to afford it with his own money since he’s no longer on the public dole.
9. I swear that I didn’t read your comment before I posted mine. Funny how great minds think alike. The fat Huckster needs to get his camera crew to do a better job at concealing his blobby frame with better camera angles.
It is amazing how so many here who should be aware of the nuances of politics seem to be so clueless.
Rombots: Huck is no longer the enemy. If he extends a hand, take it in friendship.
Palinites: Careful what you say, most comments could equally be attributed to the (female) anointed one.
All: We are not liberals, let’s not judge people on their weight. I care more about positions.
I thought Huck was a bit underhanded in ’07/’08. However, that was a long time ago and everything since then has suggested that Huck’s come around. I think he’s a straight up guy that overlooked his own ethics a tad during a very competitive campaign. He’s a good guy again. I think.
26. Thanks for those wise words. Maybe Palin will go on Mike’s show one of these days. For the record, Mike is looking really fat again. Also, I’m a huge fan of Mike, but his show has been a disappointment. There have been some improvements lately, he finally does his interviews at a desk/table.
Never thought I would see the day. It is good to see people put hard feelings behind themselves. (I am not sure they are putting bad feeling behind them just to be good people, or if they are putting feelings aside for the benefit of their careers.) But who cares.
I hope Huck brings up the $50 abortions through RomneyCare mandates, exchanges, new rules, and subsidies. Huck’s mentioned it often on his tv and radio shows throughout the years.
And as I recall, when T-Paw (another northern moderate leaning gov) was last on Fox New’s Huckabee, Huck surprisingly laid into timid Tim with hardball questioning. Hey, I was a little more than surprized by that.
Huckabee may have seen that his own ’08 bid resulted in McCain being nominated, which resulted in Obama being elected.
Huck has mellowed, and if he will praise Michelle Obama’s “kids need to eat right” plan, he will definitely give Romney’s “let’s improve the economy” plan a fair shake.
I would love Huck on a ticket. Although, he is great for the cause at what he is doing now, he’s fantastic on the stump. But who knows what the future holds. Maybe he could jump back in?
Ryan..29—I love the fact that Mitt is sooooo slippery. When your POTUS is sitting across the table from North Korea, Red China, Chavez, Putin, or the emerging Islamic states in Africa…you want the “slipperiest, smartest, word bending, mind boggling….I’m three steps ahead of you dude” you could ask for. Slippery, I’ll take it!
Romney has done a lot of work to make friends with the competitors.
Huck said when he backed out that Romney had said something very very nice, but he didn’t say what it was, but it made him rethink his opinion of Romney. He apparently was very gracious.
Romney is doing everything he can not to be the one on the stage all the others hate. Been there, done that.
I don’t know what he is doing but it seems to be working to keep this race much more friendly and nice.
Perry however, made all the other’s roll their eyse when he started on the old tried and nottrue flip flop message.
We went back a definitely saw Gingrich roll his eyes. Perry is making enemies.
You just might check your information because Mike Huckabee’s show on Fox News is the highest rated show on the weekend…so I guess LOTS of other people really like it. You might start telling the truth for a change! Could you have any kind of show??? NO, so shut up about Huckabee’s show which you obviously never watch.
Mike Huckabee is an excellent campaigner (the more people see him, the more they like him) and debater. He was ahead in PA, IL, OK, MO, LA, OH, IA, all of the south and lots of other states when he left the race in May. Romney would have an excellent VP in Mike Huckabee. I’m sure if Huckabee agreed to be Romney’s VP, he would make sure of several Romney pro-life and pro-marriage issues before he agreed (those are important to him). Huckabee would bring in the social conservatives in droves.
Too bad it wasn’t you. It was the first somewhat pleasant comment “you” have made in weeks.
I see in #36 you are still hanging with the $50 abortion lie. I hope your children don’t read your blog postings. If they do, you will have lost your cred as a dad…

Didn’t see this one coming.

I hope Huckabee is “tough” w/Mitt on the issues but supportive!
I am just noticing that Huckabee doesn’t have his “campaign figure” while Mitt still looks great!
September 30th, 2011 at 11:12 am
Someone please send “Craig for Perry” some Pepto and Kaopectate.
September 30th, 2011 at 11:13 am
Huck looks awfully comfortable in that chair. I think his political career is over. Not seeing a Romney/Huck ticket.
September 30th, 2011 at 11:14 am
which one of these guys is digging his grave with a fork and knife? I havent seen a photo of huck for a while I suppose.

When does Fox plan to launch this new Odd Couple-ish sitcom?
I figure Romney will get to play the straight man to Huck’s barbed hilarity. Sort of like Gracie Allen and George Burns.
“Say goodnight, Willard.”
“Goodnight, Willard!”

Has this show aired yet?
September 30th, 2011 at 11:25 am
C’mon you guys…you know the camera adds 10 pounds!
Actually Huck looks svelte compared to Christie.
Is this party full of chubby chasers or is it just this clique on race?
September 30th, 2011 at 11:26 am
I think the last several months of Bachmann and Perry have made Rombots appreciate Huck a little more, and Huckanuts appreciate Romney a little more.

Very cool. Romney is a uniter. Even Huck came around to like Mitt.

“If you can see your toes, your eye is not on the economy” -Christie/Huck 2012!
September 30th, 2011 at 11:35 am
That’s awesome!
Maybe Huck will get back in and pick Romney for his running mate after he cleans up and wins the nomination!

I don’t think so. Huckabee is desperate to be Romney’s butt boy.
September 30th, 2011 at 11:46 am
It’s just sad to watch Huckabee try to remain relevant…such an attention seeker
He’s lucky he decided he had no chance of winning and quit the race early for money and celebrity.
I guess a few of his sycophants must still watch his horrible low rated TV show.
It’s all they have now that Hee Haw is off the air.

Ratings and relevancy should provide sufficient motive for Huck to invite Romney on his show.
