From the AP:
CONCORD, N.H. — Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani dispatched a key emissary to New Hampshire on Wednesday to gauge their interest in his possible presidential bid.
One of the mayor’s closest political advisers, Jake Menges, hosted private meetings with a host of key Republicans in the state, including Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas, likely gubernatorial candidate Kevin Smith, Congressman Charlie Bass and GOP activist Stephen Talarico, owner of Manchester Harley-Davidson.
“Jake said to me, ‘Just keep your powder dry for another few weeks,’” Talarico told The Associated Press.
Does Giuliani seriously want to get in this race? Could he jump in with the goal of hurting Romney and helping his friend Rick Perry? Could he fill the Christie void? Or is he just milking it for a few more weeks?
I think the fact that he is actually sending his aides to meet with New Hampshire activists means that he is more serious than Palin or Christie, who haven’t taken such steps. More polling has come out showing that Rudy polls better against Obama than anyone and has the highest favorable numbers, so who knows which way he could go at this point.

Not good for Romney
September 29th, 2011 at 8:10 am
Didn’t they put these rumors to bed 2 months ago? No one but Metro is actually rooting for Giuliani to come in.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:11 am
Doesn’t Rudy know that Christie is still somewhat not considering pondering a less than non-forceful disavowel of almost not certainly making a definite non run?
At least, that’s what the Christie Clingers say.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:19 am
Republicans wants a winner, above everybody else, and the way the current polls results are looking, Giuliani is the only candidate who soundly defeats Obama.
I would like to see Giuliani run for President. Don’t get me wrong, I am 100% pro-life, but his views crime, gay rights, illegal immigration, school choice, taxes, government spending, trade, and foreign policy all match my own.

Keep your powder dry for a few more weeks……..while the primary calendar is racing towards you? what a truly stupid comment.
Let’s say Rudy runs in N Hampshire
Let’s say Rudy runs in N. H. Against his best bu, Rick Perry
Let’s say Rudy loses
Then what ? What is Rudy,s message beyond a Loss in N.H. ? Does he self fund his campaign in Florida? Has he run in Iowa. ? Perhaps he gets funding from the so called Christie supporters? Or maybe Christie runs in N. Hampshire too and Rudy and Chris split the. Pot between them
It’s all getting profoundly silly. Oh , please help me decide they all wail. I don’t want to do it but God or my wife or a couple of my friends say I must. I even got a postcard from a guy in Newport Beac
What to do, what to do

There is little to no interest in a Rudy run. So that emissary is going to be rather disappointed.
If Rudy gets in, I am going to launch a relentless offensive for the next 4 months.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:43 am
I hope Rudy gets in so we can talk more about illegal immigration.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:49 am
running takes money. does rudy have any?
September 29th, 2011 at 8:51 am
#5. Here’s the thing: Giuliani is pro-choice, but he’s also against Roe, against partial birth abortion, against taxpayer funding of abortion, and would appoint the same judges as President Bush.
The abortion issue is in the hands of the supreme court at the moment, and if Giuliani picks a pro-life judge, then the issue will return to the states. Passing a federal law on abortion would be a next to impossible mission in these times.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:52 am
This is dumb. Heck, rudy would be better off running as a 3rd party in the general. Of course, he would need to team up with somebody who is loaded, maybe a tech billionaire for veep. I do think trump might run 3rd party though, more so if perry or palin is the nominee. My advice to all the anti romney folks dreaming of person x, get with rick santorum. If he has some $ and more good debates, he could move up in the polls. The field should be set is my point.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:53 am
Now, the NY Post is saying Christie is being asked to run by Kissinger and GW Bush because he has what it takes to be President:
Six months ago Christie said he didn’t have what it takes.
Christie would have to quit as N J Governor. Good for him but bad for Palin?
Christies pre Governor experience ?? While he was state attorney he led defense of laws supporting Bernie Madoffs right to scam people. Wait till the folks hear about that.
Question ? What do you need to be President…..if no experience is necessary ? If the answer is none, I’m throwing my hat in the ring as I have many, many more years of business experience, can and have given sleeves as well and am 150 Pounds lighter

MSNBC’s First Read is reporting that New Hampshire’s filing deadline could be October 15th. If it does hit that date, any would be candidates have a little more than two weeks (16 days, to be exact) to “crap or get off the pot.”

That could be possibly the greatest news I’ve ever heard. If that is true, I won’t have to listen to or deal with all the clingers after the next couple of weeks!

Looks like they’re saying “mid-October” which I assumed to be October 15th. Sorry I messed that up.

Rudy has no chance. The more people saw of him in 2008 the more they didn’t like him. He’s pro-roe, which will almost for sure cause a third party conservative to run in the general. Bad in the general; doa in the primaries.
September 29th, 2011 at 9:38 am
Rudy is a liberal version of Newt. He gets better looking the further you get from him.

MassCon,
“That could be possibly the greatest news I’ve ever heard. If that is true, I won’t have to listen to or deal with all the clingers after the next couple of weeks!”
Don’t get your hopes up. Next up for the Palindrones is talk of a 3rd Party bid. It’s already started over at C4P.
September 29th, 2011 at 9:40 am
Rudy’s chances aren’t great, but we should remember: Rudy dislikes Romney a lot. That, and the fact that there is a strong anti-Mitt axis in the Perry-Giuliani-Barbour camps. Perry already has a direct link to Haley with his nephew Henry on board, and Rudy is another cog in that machine.
Rudy may not run to win, but run for VP, like Biden in 2008. Rudy and Perry could recreate the 2008 tag teaming of Romney by McCain/Huck/Thompson. If he succeeds in knocking down Mitt in NH and in the north east, he would likely be rewarded as Perry’s VP. (there are already strong rumors that Rudy is Perry’s top pick for VP).

Would Rudy get an endorsement from his Buddy, Rick Perry ? After all, Rudy’s law firm represents the Spanish Company that Rick picked to design and build the Trans Texas Corridor. They go back a long way together.

Max, there is no way Rudy is for Perry any longer.
Rudy is seeking to capitalize on the Christie craze, since he was Christie before Christie was Christie. Makes total sense.
It’s too bad with all the Christie talk no pollster polled him against Perry and Mitt this past week. Maybe one is still coming out.
I’m sure Rudy has done his own internal polling.
Go Rudy! Or Christie!

Wasn’t that Rudy’s campaign strategy last time? Looked good in the polls so he just sat back and waited for people to vote for him?
I like Rudy OK but he’s no Chris Christie. CC is charming; Rudy, IMO, is not.
September 29th, 2011 at 10:58 am
Could ANYTHING be more pathetic??
I’m trying to remember if Rudy finished a distant 4th or a distant 3rd in New Hampshire last time. And that was when he had $70 Million and a year to campaign in the state. And THAT would be his BEST state!!
Anybody who would rally to him would look even more pathetic than Rudy would.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:00 am
The perfect ticket?
Palin/Giuliani
Might not see that though….
Rudy said he’s run if Palin did. That may not be operational any more, we’ll see.
It sure is an interesting political season though…
I’m lovin’ it!
September 29th, 2011 at 11:07 am
If guiliani jumps in….I’m changing from Paul to Romney. I don’t like Guliani. He’s not for small government….he’s pro-choice, and he is a hardcore neocon. Romney is none of those things. Romney is slightly neocon just because that is where the mood of the party is…but he knows how to play that card. Romney is positionally pro-life(but i hope he becomes even more pro-life)….and he will ACTUALLY cut spending and bring our country out of darkness.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:08 am
I just can’t take the chance that guliani would be our nominee.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:12 am
What early state could Giuliani win? Not Iowa, not New Hampshire, not Nevada, not SC, not Florida, not Colorado, not Michigan, not Arizona.
Romney has a stone-cold lock on New Hampshire.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:14 am
35,
Exactly. That’s why Rudy running is only a spoiler…and meant to help someone like Perry out by splitting the moderate vote. Which is exactly why we should be uniting in the NOT guliani camp. I’m totally serious that if Guliani gets in…i’ll probably swing hard toward romney. I’m a Ron Paul supporter at the moment…and know he really has very little chance at winning. But i want Paul to craft the debate. But I’ll take Romney over Guliani or Perry any day of the week.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:18 am
waterseeds, you can’t claim Rudy is not for small government and Romney is. Rudy took a machete to NYC bureaucracy. Romney’s never done anything comparable.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:40 am
PALIN/GIULIANI is the killer ticket!
Yes,Rudy said that he will run only if Gov. Palin runs.
What did he mean by that?
Only one thing,to blunt Romney and any other RINO and be VP for his
good friend Palin.
They both have passion of going after crooks.
They would be great team!
They would mop the floor with Obama and Biden.
