Former Pennsylvania Governor and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge has endorsed Gov. Jon Huntsman for President.
Ridge said Thursday that Huntsman’s experience as a governor, businessman and ambassador make him “uniquely qualified to lead America to a more secure, prosperous and competitive future. He has the experience we need to rebuild our nation’s economic foundation and reduce our crushing debt.
“I know Jon to be a serious, insightful leader who will bring together people from across the political spectrum to solve the many challenges we face, both at home and around the world.”
I doubt this matters much, but maybe it can help kick up some McCain support in New Hampshire for the failing Huntsman campaign.

Looking good!

I doubt that Huntsman will break 1%. And on a related note…considering Huntsman’s inability to break 1% for months now, and multiple debates, it is time for the debate organizers to drop him from the debates.

I don’t ever recall a Primary season where big name endorsements have come out this early…………

WOOT! WOOT! All aboard!!!

Nacho,
Many polls have had Huntsman at 2%.
That’s double 1%.
September 16th, 2011 at 10:19 am
4 – Yeah, how is Huntsman in and Gary Johnson out?
September 16th, 2011 at 11:14 am
I think we can all agree that a vote for Huntsman is a vote for Perry. Because it’s not a vote against Perry. Huntsman has no shot at the nomination. And I’m saying that with Huntsman as my 2nd choice.
September 16th, 2011 at 11:19 am
Tom Ridge?
Game changer!
September 16th, 2011 at 11:32 am
I still don’t get the low polling numbers for Hunstman…..Someone enlighten me please. His record appears excellent and the policies he is putting forward are very pro-business and logical….HELP
September 16th, 2011 at 11:36 am
2. Lol, you called it MG, but I’m going to wear my life vest.
September 16th, 2011 at 11:44 am
Pro,
His face doesn’t turn red and his veins don’t pop reflexively when he says “Obama.” He also doesn’t believe that America is ruled by communists.
That all makes him a RINO.
September 16th, 2011 at 11:59 am
This is what you call going out on a limb.

He worked for Obama. Didn’t do much for us with China, anyway. He’s very moderate on a host of issues. His name ID in most places is very very low. And if you vote for huntsman, you’re throwing it away since the choice has now become Mitt or Rick P.
He’s a competent governor, but he’s relly not going anywhere in this primary.

oops. sorry for the repeat.
September 16th, 2011 at 12:09 pm
Like jaxemer said, Johnson isn’t getting debate time. Further, McCotter isn’t either. If those 1%ers don’t get debate time then neither should Huntsman.
September 16th, 2011 at 12:36 pm
Huntsman? Really? That takes a special kind of out of touchness.
September 16th, 2011 at 12:37 pm
12. He just didn’t click. I waited, I might have liked him, but he didn’t dazzel anyone.
I always thought he was running for Secretary of State anyway. He’s a diplomat.
September 16th, 2011 at 12:40 pm
12 – He spends more time bashing Republicans than Obama. That is why. He also isn’t a very good debater.
September 16th, 2011 at 12:44 pm
#12 – He also had the worst campaign launch in modern memory… from his playing political footsie while he was ambassador… to the release of his fawning letter to Obama… to his disastrous announcement day.
In short, he got seduced and screwed over by John Weaver, the black hole of campaign consultants.
I really like Huntsman and believe he could be a fine president, but campaigns matter, and his has been a trainwreck. More’s the shame.
September 16th, 2011 at 1:11 pm
Ha HA HA HA HA way to embarrass yourself Mr. Ridge. He’s hoping for another shot at VP. Keep on hoping, brother.
September 16th, 2011 at 1:43 pm
1.
Not so fast, Bozo Dougie..
Today’s Real Clear Politics
Perry 30.9
Romney 19.9
PLUS PERRY very recently UP BIG in IA, SC, FL, and even ahead in Nevada — all ealy states which could spell a quick GAME OVER! for your flip-floppity, Willard Romney’s White House fantasy.

September 16th, 2011 at 1:45 pm
As for Huntsman and Ridge joining up ..boring and frankly, a little embarrassing.
September 16th, 2011 at 1:56 pm
12.
Pro,
Let’s start with the recent out of contol personality of Junior Huntsman that called out a fellow Republican on the debate stage — “Treasonous!” and who also quotes Curt Cobain at a Republican debate.
I think the guy still thinks he’s working for Obama.
