According to Politico, the Paul campaign made a six figure buy to run this ad in multiple states, and is trying to get it run on MSNBC during the debate tomorrow night.
Lame. We can put an end to Paul’s faux Reagan worship by asking him about the 40th President’s foreign policy, pentagon budget, tax increases, deficits, etc. and watch has his head spins around and around.
In 1976, I voted for Roger MacBride, and in 1980, I voted for Ed Clark, and in 1984, I voted for David Bergland, and in 1988, I voted for Ron Paul. All those years in which Paul was, according to this ad, championing Reagan, I was voting Libertarian.
After that, I became a Republican again. I hope Ron doesn’t hold my years of apostasy against me. There are valid reasons to oppose Perry’s candidacy, but his once having been a Democrat isn’t one of them. Reagan used to be a Democrat.
I just see this as Ron Paul trying to “normalize” himself. Finding a way to come across as someone anyone can vote for. His reputation is that he is to far “out there”.
Ron Paul was the Libertarian candidate for President in 1988, does he forget that? Or the fact that instead of endorsing the Republican nominee in 2008, Paul endorsed the Constitution Party candidate for President? Which would be a bigger issue to GOP primary voters – the fact that in 1988 Perry was a conservative Democrat who endorsed the most conservative Democratic nominee in the primary (odd, but true about Gore) or the fact that in 2008 Paul endorsed the Truther, Constitution Party candidate for President over the Republican standard bearer? I think the latter.
This is a part of Perry’s record that nobody really knows about. It’s good to educate the masses about what Perry has been doing these last 27 years as a career politician.
agreed…very nice ad. I wouldn’t have a problem with Ron Paul being president. I just worry that if he hasn’t been able to get very far with what I actually consider a very strong message I don’t know that he would be able to get much done in the White House.
Reagan was one a democrat. Hillary was once a republican. Ron Paul is just desperate and is attacking fellow republicans. Just like you shallow, stuck up Romney supporters will immediately jump on anything anti-Perry.
Important Issue…but Ron Paul shouldn’t be the one raising it.
Ron Paul’s philosophy basically calls for returning to a monetary system that would place American workers at a massive disadvantage, abandoning our influence in the world to the likes of China and Russia, and turning a blind eye to increases in drug use or other behaviors with grave social consequences for the population.
9# What a great point; but as far as the ad goes it was quick and extremely effective. This is the second ad I have seen from Ron paul and the first one was just as good. (Even though it did throw in a biting zing on my guy Romney)

Extremely effective ad, in my opinion.

Do the knee jerk Perry supporters even care about his past or his record?

There are a lot of anti-Reagan quotes out there from Perry’s tenure with Al Gore.

Hope the ad gets lots of play… Won’t help Paul much but could hurt Perry some lol…

RP also once believed in term limits. But obviously not for himself as he’s been there for 13 terms.
