I don’t think the Paul campaign is wise to pump the messianic message, but those were some pretty good slaps at Mitt, Rick, and Michele (I especially liked the images linking Michele to Pelosi).
No slow motion beer belly closeups either, so that’s a plus.
Ummm…..ok….I have two issues with this video. First, it looks very familiar. It looks like Obama videos from the 07/08 campaign pegging him as the next Jesus Christ, here to save us all. The 2nd issue is that all of the shots make him look like he is almost 80 years old…..what? Hold on. Whats that you say Snerdley? Ron Paul IS almost 80? Oh……well nevermind then. Just the first point.
Michele is the anti-Pelosi. Pelosi Enemy Number Oneā¢
Pelosi designated Bachmann’s district with the largest set of crosshairs known to mankind in congressional history. Pumped millions into her district against MB.
Michele still defeated Pelosi’s hand-picked Dem. EASILY!
Hey CRAIG, quit your spam. We don’t like Bachmann. She’s establishment just like the rest of them. Ron Paul is the ONLY one that hasn’t changed his ideologies based off of what’s popular. Mrs. Bachmann is a big government phony just like the rest of them.
If you want to talk about Bachmann…can it at LEAST be in the context of contrasting her with Paul? I mean, this is a ron paul post. Post something relevant.
Paul has no shot at the nomination, but he IS growing the Libertarian movement, and that is an excellent development for America’s future.
The America that is willing to fight to take back it’s freedom from the Statist puppet-masters is, in Mark Steyn’s words, the America that has a fighting chance. As long as we have reasonably fair elections, we have the ability to throw off our shackles.
I’m glad there are people like Paul in the party. I’m no libertarian, but they can serve as an important voice and check on getting too comfy with government power.
But Ron Paul is still not a viable candidate. There are two many types of voters who would never vote for him over a credible (non-Bachmann) alternative. Consider those who want executive experience, those who don’t like an isolationist foreign policy, those who think he’s kooky for being obsessed with a gold standard. Those who want to preserve Social Security in some manner at least resembling current form. etc…. etc……
Those are all pretty large groups, in the Primary and General.
This is a reason why I prefer Gary Johnson to Ron Paul, with all due respect to Congressman Paul. Johnson is just so much more down-to-earth and focused on the message, rather than flashy theatrics; Johnson would NEVER promise to “create jobs,” because government DOESN’T create jobs; and Johnson never attacks any of his opponents in his advertisements.
And also, the Gary Johnson campaign isn’t trying to be a personality cult. But I guess the Paul campaign is beating us in fundraising and poll numbers, so maybe we should try to become a personality cult.
Let me give you an idea how unseriously people take Ron Paul as a viable general election candidate.
When was the last time you heard anyone argue that he is too old? He’ll be 80 by inauguration day. They said Goldwater was too old in his 70′s. They said Reagan was too old in his 70′s. They said McCain was too old in his 70′s. But we haven’t heard a peep about Paul’s age. And that’s because he has so little chance of winning the nomination that nobody has to even worry about vetting him.
We’ll all know when Paul becomes a real candidate; the opposition (left and right) will come out of the woodwork to disqualify him for being too old.
Actually, when Reagan was running in 1984, he was 73 years old. At that time, the American life expectancy was 74.6 years. Ron Paul is currently 76 (actually he’s 75, but he’s turning 76 in four days). Currently, American life expectancy is 78.7 years. So, technically, in “real” terms, Ron Paul is seeking a presidential term at a “younger” age (plus the fact that Paul is more fit than Reagan was at these respective times in their lives) than Reagan was when he sought his second presidential term.
I think the other thing is that Paul will likely NOT run for a 2nd term. He’ll do just enough to save our country…and hand the reigns over to whomever his vp is. I’m hoping Rubio, but don’t doubt the idea of Andrew Napolitano.
I agree with you that Paul’s people have had to push the message a little more mainstream to get primary support than my preference. Creating jobs, I hate it when people toss that one around.
But I don’t think his policy focus has changed in the least. We all know Ron Paul is just moderating the rhetoric on the campaign ads. It’s sad that you have to basically lie to the electorate repeating the same vapid talking points in order to get across anything to them, but that’s just the world we live in.
But Ron Paul himself, in person, never moderates, never tones it down. And if Republicans had any intelligence whatsoever they’d acknowledge and respect him far more than they do. Ron Paul was against the wars in the Middle East, back when everyone else myself included thought Al Qaeda was all over the place. And Saddam was building nukes. Ron Paul was against the bank bailouts, back when everyone else thought that shelling out free money to them was the way to keep the economy rolling. Ron Paul wants to reform entitlements when no one else even acknowledges that they are going to bankrupt us soon, the math is impossible to argue against.
In all matters facing us, Ron Paul is right. He speaks the truth. So why is he ignored or treated with outright contempt by the candidates and the media? Do we hate hearing the truth that much?
Why would we be so foolish to hand the nomination of the party to someone who attempts to woo us with appealing rhetoric, when their actions and habits throughout their careers suggest otherwise. Paul was Tea Party before the Tea Party existed. If you believe, as I do, that we stand now at a crossroads in our history as we have from time to time, then we must do what is right and necessary for the future that our children will one day live in.
Forget what others tell us we should be voting for. Ron Paul is honest. That should be enough for any of us.
Which one was/is more fit is in the eye of the beholder.
Reagan had already served a term.
But the real point is that in all cases, age was raised as an issue in their campaigns, and their age was relevant because they had an argument of viability. Ron Paul’s age is not a factor because he isn’t expected to be a factor.
The visuals, music, and message were powerfull. It was effective and short. It even gave a quick slam on my guy Romney. The only way to make it better would have been something else instead of “THE ONE” As it stands it has a little of that “Obama annointed feel” But Mr. Paul’s stonewall stand on constitutional financial stewardship was portrayed flawlessly. Solid Ad!
6# Craig for MB, Some of us my not have Ron paul for our guy, but you dont need to always try and get in spam in for whoever is your current flavor.
I Love it! but I am an informed and Biased toward Ron Paul, He is after all consistent, honest, Knowledgeable about everything he talks about. He also refuses to be a part of the political pension plan, So principled as well.
I didn’t like the add so much eventhough I have been a Dr. Paul supporter since 1994. I do believe he needed to campaign differently this time around so hopefully it helps gain momentum. As for Bachman not representing status qoute some people need to do research about her voting record. She voted for Pelosi’s budget plan in 2008, she has gained nearly $300,000 dollars in government subsoties since she has been in office, she spent 5 years as an irs attorney learning how to manipulate her tax benifits while prosecuting small bussiness owners. Please understand what you support when you cast a vote.

This is the most well-done ad in terms of visuals, audio, and presentation.

Ron Paul – The 2nd at Ames
But that’s just me.

LOL! @Bachmann is establishment. That’s a laugh, WS.

9,
You mean getting 2nd at ames? You’re right…it did. But the message isn’t 2nd at ames. It’s liberty, and RESTORE OUR COUNTRY NOW!

There is a shocking new Rasmussen poll out with Perry jumping to a double digit lead over other contenders.
Perry 29
Romney 18
Bachmann 13
Ron Paul registers nine percent support.

WS,
If “Get Off My Lawn” Paul wants to diss Michele in his little video, I’LL SPEAK OUT EVERY SINGLE TIME HE TRIES IT!

Did they include Palin and was it taken AFTER Ames?
