Questions asking about the 11 potential candidates measured in this research were rotated among randomly selected samples of Republicans each night; over the 14-day period, each candidate was rated by a minimum of 1,500 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

For the overall ratings of each potential candidate among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, including recognition scores, one can say with 95% confidence that the maximum margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points.

  2. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Lol, more people know Rick Perry than TPaw. And TPaw’s been running for president for 2 years. And yes, Texas has a lot of people. But come on.

  3. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Shouldn’t say “more” people know him. The same amount of people know him.

  4. teledude Says:

    I just can’t stop Smilin’ :-)

  5. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

Straw Poll, baby! :) ! That’s what I’m talkin’ about. Michele needs a first or solid 2nd to Paul’s poll riggers.

And if the other Minnesotan finishes behind her, SHE IS THE MINNESOTAN. Period.

  6. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

Telly 1.0 hated polls with every pore in his/her body. Telly 2.0 loves them.

I like the new and improved Telly version ;)

  7. Franklin Says:

    June 8
    Bachmann +24

    July 25
    Bachmann +21

    Aug 2
    Bachmann +14

  8. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

    Aaand…

    •Herman Cain +25%
    •Tim Pawlenty +9%

There’s your solid third place finisher at Ames. You know, the one who likes to mix it up in the debate ring. Iowa folks love that. 1-2-3 knockout!

  9. Ci2Eye Says:

Poor T-Paw. He’s still only at 54 percent name recognition and seemingly gets little attention in the media.

On a related note, ABC News just ran a story about the candidates and how each cite job creation as key goals for their hypothetical administrations. They then looked at where their campaign materials were sourced to see if they put their money where their mouth is.

The winners – all their stuff is Made in USA:

    Mitt Romney
    Michele Bachmann
    Jon Huntsman

The Losers – Campaign items imported:

    Newt Gingrich
    Herman Cain
    Rick Santorum
    Ron Paul

Curiously absent was Tim Pawlenty. He wasn’t mentioned. Maybe they don’t figure he’s running. Again, he got no attention.

In the report, Gingrich and Cain pledged to switch to US companies to produce their materials. Santorum wouldn’t commit and Paul said the market dictated where goods are produced and he had no problem with imported goods.

  10. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

LOL! My #6 applies to Frankie, too. Y’all have finally seen the light about scientific polling superseding internet polling run or promoted at lovefest4palin.com ;)

Now if you only had a candidate or candidates in the race like rest of us.

    ===

I would definitely party with those three CURRENT job creators.

  14. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

What was Rudy’s intensity score and favorability number last cycle in Gallup? Was he also on or ner the top? Where’s Metro when I need him?

Just curious because he spent $70,000,000 to get one measly delegate who I understood had a fabulous time at the convention. Does Rudy G know how to party or what? ;)

  15. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

    ner = *near

  17. PabloZed Says:

ABCNews must be short on material.

  18. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Palin is not running. Just watched her on Hannity. She seemed to give the impression that she was watching the field to decide who to support, rather than watching the field to see whether to get in.

  19. teledude Says:

    18. Funny, I just watched and she B*tch slapped finger-in-the-wind Romney pretty hard. I don’t think she would do that if she weren’t
    running.

  20. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Tele, just because she attacked him, doesn’t mean she’s running. Is Rush Limbaugh running too? He loves to attack Mitt.

What about Joe Miller? Is he running?

Rand Paul? Andrea Tantaros? Ainsley Earhardt?

  21. Franklin Says:

Palin is not running. Just watched her on Hannity. She seemed to give the impression that she was watching the field to decide who to support, rather than watching the field to see whether to get in.
    =====================================================
I think you are doing some wishful thinking. She didn’t mention anyone when she was asked if there was anyone she could support.

  22. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

So, since Palin isn’t running, neither will Rudy.

    So the set field is:

    Romney
    Perry
    Bachmann
    TPaw
    Cain
    Santorum
    Newt
    Paul
    Johnson
    McCotter

The rest are 5th tier people

  23. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Franklin, I HOPE Palin runs. I PRAY she runs. It would be a fantastic day.

But I can read between the lines pretty well, my friend. I have conducted dozens of job interviews for my engineering firm. I can read people and I know what they’re thinking without them saying anything.

Trust me. She’s not running. And it sucks.

  24. teledude Says:

    22. You shouldn’t make such a spectacle of yourself.

Unless you like egg on your face.

It’s like I know a secret, and I’m really bad at keeping secrets, but no one wants to believe me. How lucky can I get!

It is foolhardy to doubt me. :-)

  25. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

I don’t like egg on my face. Unless it’s part of a pancake or pastry. Then, as long as I have a napkin, it’s fine. My napkin is the truth and the facts.

    (1) She has done nothing to prepare
    (2) She knows she cannot win
    (3) She likes money
    (4) She is looking to endorse someone
    (5) I can read her like a book. She is uncomfortable answering questions about her prospective candidacy. She seems to be surveying the field. She is trying to influence the discussion from the outside. She wants to play kingmaker.

  26. asparagus Says:

I don’t remember Rick Perry taking a position on the debt ceiling. Perhaps she was referring to him.

  27. teledude Says:

    25. That is called projection. that’s what you want.

    Because

    somewhere

    deep down

    in the farthest crevices

    of your darkest fears…

    You know.

    :-)

  28. Ci2Eye Says:

    #19 Tele,

I predict Palin will endorse Romney or Paul.

    Exhibit A:

    http://newsroom.mtv.com/2008/08/29/sarah-palin-republican-vice-presidential-nominee-plugs-romney-paul-but-not-mccain-in-mtv-interview/?rsspartner=rssColdFusion

Go to the 2:05 point in the video.

  29. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Tele, there is no fear. If Palin runs, it would be a great thing. For one, the primary would be interesting. Secondly, she is better than Rick Perry (yes, I said it). Thirdly, she stirs a lot of ire, even within the party. This would change the race from looking to a “Romney Alternative” to a “Palin Alternative.”

  30. teledude Says:

    29. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this race has always been about looking for someone to take down governor Palin.

the parade of ‘flavors of the week’ are just a reflection of the reality that Romney is NOT up to the challenge, as will soon become evident.

I predict in the next few weeks, when real panick sets in, people will be pleading with Jeb and Christie once again…to please please please do something!!

    OHMYGODSARAHPALIN!!!!!!!!

    heh heh

  31. Massachusetts Conservative Says:

Tele, there is always a push to get someone to run, every cylce.

This time, however, the front runner has not even begun campaigning, trying to let the other candidates destroy each other at Ames.

    Genius.

Did you hear about his coming campaign overdrive? It’s going to be great.

  32. mac Says:

Tpaw is here in Tampa, he’s even the lead story at one of our top local websites TBO.com (Tampa Tribune):

  33. TEX Says:

Sarahcuda has landed her mighty nightstick right between Willard’s
    shifty,cowardly eyes!

“I want these candidates to not be sitting back. And bless his heart. I have respect for Mitt Romney but I do not have respect for what he has done through this debt increase debate.

He waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling and more money would be spent and more money borrowed and then spent on bigger government.

And then he came out and he made a statement that ‘oh he didn’t like the deal after all’.

You know you can’t defer an issue and assume the problem is going to be, then, avoided.” – Sarah Palin on Hanitty

Rombots,I know most of you(not all) are delusional, but geez, can’t you see
what Sarah Palin thinks of spineless, finger in the wind,no core beliefs,
no convictions, the man who still doesn’t know who he is,the phony, the fake, the fraud Willard Rockefeller Romney is.

  34. PabloZed Says:

If anyone has read an article breaking down the politics of the debt deal please post a link.

I think its interesting for a couple reasons. One, opposing the deal might be good politics in the primary, but not necessarily in the general. For example, opposing it may have been necessary to win the backing of some influential officials such as DeMint, but many more republicans voted for it so how will those officials view the candidates who opposed it. I also wonder if opposition plays well in some states like SC but not in NH.

  35. Texas Conservative Says:

    Ci2eye,

Doesn’t sound like Palin will be endorsing Romney anytime soon:

    http://www.rightspeak.net/2011/08/palin-blasts-romney-for-lack-of.html

  36. TEX Says:

Sarah Palin was devastatingly brutal about spineless Willard:

She put her finger in the air describing Willard Rockefeller Romney!

That’s what she thinks of him!

  37. PabloZed Says:

Its unfair to have Palin still on the Fox payroll while contemplating a presidential run in that she gets to act as commentator and criticize others but yet not be subject to questions herself as a candidate. Also, doesn’t a viewer have a right to know in what capacity she is offering her opinion?

  38. Robin from Indiana Says:

#33 What I can see, Tex, is someone who is getting ready to support Rick Perry.

  39. TEX Says:

    Palin:

“Mitt Romney was doing this (licks finger and holds up in the air)…..”

Barracuda Gladiatrix is just warming up and shifty Willard is already
bloodied, exposed for a finger in the wind unprincipled fraud he is!

Think what she will do with 7 dwarfs once she throws her 50 gallon hat
    in the ring.

  40. Ci2Eye Says:

    #35 Texas,

I was joking about a Palin endorsement. If she endorses at all, it likely won’t be Romney and I doubt it would help him if she did. Palin’s demographic is wildly different from Romney’s.

Romney has a fine line to walk. He has to be court the Tea Party ever so slightly and win as much of their support as possible to garner the nomination without really being associated with them because he can’t win the general election if he’s too far right to appeal to the independents. I think a Palin endorsement would actually be bad for him in the primary.

I expect Palin to endorse Perry.

  41. thetruth Says:

Tex – I like Sarah, but the fact is she is like Hannity, same speech over and over and over…………..

  42. TEX Says:

    Sarah Palin

    “Bless his heart(Romney)”.

    Alaskian translation: “Grow a pair”!

  43. jaxemer11 Says:

I can’t even read this site anymore. What happened to the intelligent conversation that used to exist here?

  44. TEX Says:

The vetting of phony Willard has begun-finally!

Nobody can do it like lethal Sarahcuda can!

  45. TEX Says:

    “Bless his heart”.

In South it means:”What an idiot.” – with a big smile of course.

  46. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

    Bless your heart, TEX ;)

  47. TEX Says:

Bless your bible thumping heart Craig For Losers!

  48. Franklin Says:

“The Alaska Attorney General’s office has dismissed yet another frivolous ethics complaint filed against Governor Palin by a leftwing political blogger. This particular blogger is from Texas (where she volunteered as a precinct captain for Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign)

This particular complaint alleged that Governor Palin violated Alaska’s Executive Branch Ethics Act because the production company that made “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” received a film tax credit from the State of Alaska related to its expenses in making the series. It should be noted that Governor Palin never received any direct money or compensation from this tax credit. The legislation that created this tax credit was crafted and passed by Alaska lawmakers and signed into law by Governor Palin. In dismissing this complaint, the Alaska Attorney General’s office outlines the illogic and absurdity of exempting former governors from complying with statutes they signed into law for two years after they leave office.”

This was done in June 2011. Does anyone really believe that this blogger did this on her own? Apparently Obama’s people are still worried about Palin.

  49. K.G. Says:

Perry’s getting in and Palin probably won’t. Palin will probably endorse Perry (who else?) and that would hurt Mitt (and everyone else). Look for her interview with her finger in the air to be aired forever more. Because it plays into Mitt’s stereotype, it will resonate with people, even those who don’t like Palin. Never mind that Perry has flipped around lately too.

  50. TEX Says:

    SARAH PALIN:

“I have respect for Mitt Romney but I do not have respect for what he has done through this debt increase debate.

He waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling and more money would be spent and more money borrowed and then spent on bigger government.

And then he came out and he made a statement that oh he didn’t like the deal after all. You know you can’t defer an issue and assume the problem is going to be then avoided.

Mitt Romney was doing this (licks finger and holds up in the air)…..”

Barracuda Gladiatrix is just warming up and shifty Willard is already
bloodied, exposed for a finger in the wind unprincipled fraud he is!

  51. K.G. Says:

    50: Tex,

I agree that Sarah gave him the finger and it will hurt Mitt. But does… “He waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling and more money would be spent and more money borrowed and then spent on bigger government.

And then he came out and he made a statement that oh he didn’t like the deal after all. You know you can’t defer an issue and assume the problem is going to be then avoided”…

…make real sense? It’s classic Palin: Garbled syntax; senseless sentences. This is why she is a laughing stock among many groups and cannot be president. Yeah, I know. Barack Obama isn’t much better off teleprompter, but he gets away with it for reasons we all know.

  52. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

    50.

Why are you cutting and pasting that on every thread?

We get it. Palin dislikes Mitt. I’ve been saying that for three years. Shoot, she voted for Huckabee over him (and McCain) in the 2008 Alaska primary.

And we also get that she is shilling for Perry at Fox News. Big surprise. NOT!

Btw, Huck is all over Fox News at least five times a week and will take “care” of Perry if you know what I mean.

  53. TEX Says:

    K.G.

You are talking nonsense about Sarah Palin’s syntax,(it’s never about her
politics, her stances, her stellar record andher great accomplishments as governor in her beloved Alaska).

Sarah Palin is talking about Willard’s shifty character,no core beliefs,
    no principles,no spine,no manhood……

What do you think of that?!

  54. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

    [...YAWN..]

  55. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

Sean asked her which of the candidates has been involved in the debt discussion and Palin said “well Bachmann has!”

    VERY INTERESTING 8)

  56. jordan Says:

Has nobody been researching, watching, or even listening to Ron Paul? The man is obviously the best candidate. Yes, we, his supporters, can go a little overboard, but isn’t that what it has come to? I mean, we are 14 trillion dollars in debt, there is no end in sight for these undeclared, unconstitutional wars, and the government just keeps growing. What is going on in this country? Really. Me and every other freedom fighting American will support Ron Paul, while i guess the rest of you will just continue to be misguided and manipulated by Fox News… Sorry for the rant, but it is truly hard to see these kind of numbers when you feel so strongly about ONE candidate. “Freedom IS popular!” Ron Paul 2012!

  57. PabloZed Says:

Romney got hit by CNN, MSNBC and Fox yesterday for coming out of Mittness Protection to oppose debt deal. There is a milk carton with his picture on it floating around. It was a stretch to me but CNN made it sound like he was flip-flopping (whereas I think the truth is he was too afraid to take a position from which to flip flop later).

It should disquiet Rombots that I at least have not heard any response from Romney. You can believe this line of attack will continue.

  58. Freddy Ardanza Says:

    Who is Sarah Palin?

  59. thetruth Says:

The funny thing is had Tex and Pablo not supported a loser (McCain) in 2008 and Romney had been the nominee there wouldn’t have been this big fight over the debt or a balanced budget, and the economy would be two years into a robust recovery. If you all want to back someone who can not win a national election, again, be prepared for 4 more years of Obama.

  60. Ben (One of those MittWitts) Says:

    #46 -

    Craig – LMAO

That was choice timing. You have a quick wit about you. I can see why you like Mike.
