Pottawattamie County Iowa’s GOP Chair said he will endorse Herman Cain today. He said that he won’t be endorsing in his capacity as GOP Chair, but as a private citizen and that he will be voting for him in the Ames Straw Poll. Here’s a link and an excerpt from the article:
Pottawattamie County Republican Jeff Jorgensen intends to endorse Herman Cain for president, he said today.
“And as I study the current field of Republican presidential candidates, there is only one candidate who is not a politician and is not encumbered with political concerns,” Jorgensen said in an e-mail. “This candidate has offered true capitalist, free market, common sense solutions to our problems, not political solutions. His name is Herman Cain.” … Jorgensen said watching the current debt limit debate going on in Washington D.C. made him realize the nation’s fiscal problems can’t be solved by Washington politicians. “Granted, they are working hard to find solutions, but we need capitalist, free market, common sense solutions to our fiscal problems, not political solutions,” Jorgensen said.
When Cain’s bus stops at Bayliss Park in Council Bluffs on Aug. 9, Jorgensen as “a concerned citizen of this great country, not as chairman of the Pottawattamie County Republican Party” will announce his endorsement. “And I will be voting for him in the Iowa Straw Poll,” said Jorgensen, who repairs locomotive communications and telemetry systems.
It’s an interesting choice considering the recent moves by the Cain campaign that some believed to be winding down.

Pawlenty is going to take Hermain & Michele to the woodshed come August 13th.
All the spinning in the world is not going to stop the TPAW SURGE!!!!

Ames, baby
Michelle 1st
Ron Paul 2nd (but close)
Cain 3rd (nice job)
T-Paw 4th (drops out)

If Cain out performs T-Paw I’m not sure who that says something about.

Craig For Huck,
Your prediction that Huck is going to run for President has a better chance of coming true.
How many predictions are you going to get wrong before you finally get it….
..you know……where you finally understand that…
America, Is The land Of P(aw)LENTY!!!
Ames Order of Finish
1. TPAW
2. Paul
3. Bachmann
4. Cain
5. Santorum
Big Winner: TPAW
Big Loser: Bachmann
Droups out: Santorum
Santorum endorses Pawlenty!
Iowa is TPAW Country!!
July 31st, 2011 at 5:18 pm
This is a very Important endorsement don’t kid yourself. This is very strong endorsement and this really validates this candidate big time. You couldn’t buy this kind of support unless you were Obama.Go Herman!!! I’m going to donate more to his campaign now. This country really needs this breath of fresh air come on people don’t believe those who say “Herman can’t win” they just want us to believe another dumb lie. That is like saying “we can never change Washington it is to corrupt” The people can do whatever we put our minds to we own this country.Lets get on with changing and abolishing. Future Generations will remember this.

315 hours…that’s all the time you savages have left before RACE42012 is changed forever.
The clock is ticking.
Tick tock
Tick tock
Tick tock.
The ROMBOTS world is going to change. In 315 hours they will be forever be looking over their shoulder wondering how much longer is it going to take before TPAW surges past Mittens.
The Palinistas have 315 hours to imagine that their Queen is going to come in and save them from TPAW. August 13th their dreams will be shattered.
The Bachmannites have 315 hours before the truth spills out to the nation that their candidate is sizzle and no steak. Craig will be in a fetus position sucking on his thumb when TPAW wins at AMES…something the Huckster could not do.
The rest of you, who at one point was on the TPAW Train but got off when the going got tough, will be asking my hand to help you up on the TPAW bandwagon.
..Well don’t ask for my hand…the answer is no…no thank you. You can stay off the TPAW TRAIN.
315 more hours and this place will never be the same.
Never.
SMACK2012 will usher in a new era of political talk.
And it will all center around the 45th President of the United States.

Even the smartest ROMBOT, Massachusetts Conservative, can’t get himslef to admit what he knows is true….
TPAW is going to win at AMES.
It looks like it’s Smackdaddy vs. All posters on RACE42012.
Do you know what we call that in TPAW’s hometown of South St.Paul?
A Smackdaddy victory…an epic route.

Smack,
Do you know if there’s been any contact between Pawlenty and Steve Deace? Deace will be back on the air on 8/12/11, it seems to me that Tpaw will likely be his favorite of this field.
July 31st, 2011 at 6:02 pm
Brother Smack, the pressure is getting to you dude.
Time to chill a little.
I firmly believe T-Paw will win the vote count in Ames.
I just don’t think the media is going to give it as much weight this year, with Romney, Palin, and Perry not participating.
The Palin volunteer organization here in Iowa has decided to forgo the Straw Poll. She may not get one write in vote. So what?
I understand Perry’s 527 group is making a last minute push to get a write in campaign going. They may actually steal the thunder from Ames with a top 5 finish…I don’t know.
We are concentrating our efforts on The Sept. 3rd Tea Party Rally in Waukee. Perhaps you’ve heard who is keynoting that event. It’s free to attend, and I bet there will be more people there than are at the Ames Straw poll in toto.
There is no need for you to be insulting.
I love ya, man.
July 31st, 2011 at 6:06 pm
Smack, thanks for the compliment.
Here, I will discuss why I put Paul above TPaw:
I incorrectly made the assumption that Paul was higher in the polls than TPaw. I consulted the trusty RealClearPolitics Iowa average, and saw that Paul has been losing supporters to Bachmann and TPaw has stayed around 8% or so.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/ia/iowa_republican_presidential_primary-1588.html
So I will revise my prediction:
(1) TPaw
(2) Paul
(3) Bachmann
(4) Cain
(5) Santorum
(6) Romney
Big winner: TPaw
Big loser: Bachmann
Drops out: Santorum, endorses TPaw
Cain eventually drops out when he realizes he could not win IA or NH. Not immediately. Give him a month or two.

Who knows, though? Paul could win. He has a ton of money, the best plot at Ames, a very dedicated hardcore fan base, and possible Tea Party supporters who will be organized and bused in. We’ll see.
I must admit, I am not 100% certain TPaw wins, although I still give him 50/50 odds over Paul and Bachmann.
July 31st, 2011 at 6:10 pm
tele,
“I just don’t think the media is going to give it as much weight this year, with Romney, Palin, and Perry not participating.”
I would’ve agreed with you a couple months ago, but given Bachmann’s rise to pseudo prominence, Tpaw taking her down will be fairly big news, at least for a day or two.
July 31st, 2011 at 7:27 pm
After TPAW wins AMES he will get the financial support to do well at the FL Straw poll. This will help TPAW get his NAME ID up to where Bachmann is at right now.
Success will follow success will follow success will follow success….
Maybe the Ames Straw poll doesn’t mean that much to those who support candidates who will not run…but this means everything to the TPAW camp.
I could care less about Sept 3…Palin…blah..blah..blah.
Piss or get off the pot. I could care less what Palin does…..either way..she will just be road kill on the way to the TPAW victory party.
I won’t chill out either…..I have read what you all have been saying about TPAw when I was in Ontario.
It’s easy for you all to yap about TPAW now…but after Ames you will be bunch up in a corner pushing the other guy out in front of Smackdaddy trying to protect yourself from getting the Smackdaddy political haymaker.

Deace is a free agent. There is a good chance he will back TPAW but it’s not a lock. There has been many phone call convos that I have had with others in regards to this subject. If Palin stays out Deace would seem to favor TPAW.
Will see.

I note Romney’s SuperPac announced they had raised $ 12 million more for Mitt in the first half of the year. That gives Mitt about $ 30 million, going into the fall run up to primaries. It’s going to be very interesting, post Ames, to see how Mitt uses this overwhelming cash advantage in the fall

It looks like Cain has cancelled a number of his speaking engagements to do a bus tour of Iowa. Apparently this is supposed to lead up to Ames. Sounds like a hail mary pass in the final seconds of the game.
Ames can hurt because if Ron Paul wins then Bachmann and Pawlenty are damaged goods. Even if one of them wins, they get no bounce because there are several conservative heavyweights which was not the case in 2008.
July 31st, 2011 at 7:49 pm

Looks like we’ve got a debt deal.
Obviously most things will benefit the Republicans, but if this deal takes us beyond the 2012 elections, Obama will be able to declare victory. I’m hoping they didn’t cave on that.
July 31st, 2011 at 7:58 pm
Ames will matter this time if the result is a surprise. Right now Pawlenty beating Bachmann would be news. Bachmann winning actually wouldn’t make too much news because the narrative is that she should.
July 31st, 2011 at 8:03 pm
“Bachmann winning actually wouldn’t make too much news because the narrative is that she should.”
It would make news alright, it would kill off Pawlenty’s campaign.
July 31st, 2011 at 8:07 pm
Matthew Kilburn,
The 2nd part of the deal does take it past the election of 2012.
Romney,Palwenty,Perry & Bachmann will come out against this deal.
They have to because they all signed the Demint Pledge.
Huntsman will come out for the deal.
July 31st, 2011 at 8:10 pm
Yes, Bachmann defeating TPAW will make it impossible for TPAW to win Iowa in 2012.
But it ain’t happening, dogs.
July 31st, 2011 at 8:11 pm
“Romney,Palwenty,Perry & Bachmann will come out against this deal.”
Pledge or no pledge, you cannot come out against this deal at the 11th hour. The risk to our credit rating and economy is simply too great.
This must be passed, or be well on its way to passing, tonight.
Or the Dow will tank tomorrow.
July 31st, 2011 at 8:13 pm
#28:
Well, the conventional wisdom is that Pawlenty’s campaign is on life-support anyways. Pawlenty dropping out would cause less news than Pawlenty upsetting the Bachmann apple-cart.
July 31st, 2011 at 8:16 pm
#31:
We know Bachman is against it. Perry will probably get away with not saying anything since he isn’t a candidate yet. Huntsman will support the deal. The real test is for Pawlenty and Romney. Maybe Romney can make up for some of is earlier hiding under the desk by coming out strongly for the deal.
July 31st, 2011 at 8:37 pm
Pawlenty will be against it. TPAW has stated that there would need to be at least a pathway to long term spending reform in entitlement programs, if the Balance Budget Admendment couldn’t get through, before he could support the deal. This deal does not do that. A super committee to decide the 2nd part of this deal will not convince TPAW that this is a good deal.
Romney will be against this deal as well. It will be interesting to see politically if Huntsman can get traction by supporting this deal.
Palin will be against the deal as well.

Then every last one of them (except Huntsman) is a fool. We are less than 30 hours from defaulting and this deal cuts $2 trillion without raising taxes. That is a coup for the GOP; we control one-half of one-third of the government and we got a lot more out of this deal than the Democrats did. It’s time to declare victory and leave the field.

========================================
$2.4 billion is not a good down payment when you consider that the budget is going up $9 trillion over the next 10 years. Besides will this committee cave in on raising taxes?
Michelle Bachmann voted against cut, cap, and tax. She voted against the Boehner bill. That’s not leadership.
July 31st, 2011 at 9:24 pm
“going up $9 trillion”
As Mrs. Bachmann said going to Washington, “NOT on my watch if I can stop it!”
July 31st, 2011 at 9:29 pm
It’s very funny how your typical politician thinks that raising the debt ceiling while increasing the budget, oh let’s say $9,000,000,000,000 is going to keep our credit rating from crashing.
Fools.
July 31st, 2011 at 9:44 pm

Smacks,
There was always a super committee present in Boehner’s two part deal. Didn’t stop T-Paw from backing it.
Well, first Flip Flop Flip Timmy said yes, then no (following Michele’s LEAD) to Boehner’s plan, then yes, and now you are predicting no again.
At least Mitt was consistent on the plan by saying no comment each time.
July 31st, 2011 at 9:47 pm
Bachmann voted for Paul Ryan’s budget that will add $8.8 trillion of debt in 10 years while also increasing spending every single year. Paul Ryan’s budget also doesn’t balance til 2040.
July 31st, 2011 at 9:49 pm
Craig,
TPAW was alway against it. You make things up daily now. TPAW did say at one point he wanted to know what was in the deal…but once he found out he was against….. .never was for it.
You always get things wrong Craig.
And BTW, you already owe me a dinner at the Pizza Ranch because you were wrong about Huck getting in the race, and I was right that he wasn’t.
You were wrong that Cain would sign the Marriage Vow Pledge….I have never known you to be correct about anything.
