Poll Watch: Gallup, Obama’s Job Approval Hits All-time Low

Gallup reports that Obama has hit an all-time low in job approval:

President Obama’s job approval rating is at a new low, averaging 40% in July 26-28 Gallup Daily tracking. His prior low rating of 41% occurred several times, the last of which was in April. As recently as June 7, Obama had 50% job approval.

His disapproval, however, is only at 50%. His worst mark there was 52% back in August of 2010.

Obama’s job approval rating among Democrats is 72%, compared with 34% among independents and 13% among Republicans. In the prior three weeks, his average approval rating was 79% among Democrats, 41% among independents, and 12% among Republicans.

So in the past three weeks, he has slipped 7% among both Democrats and Independents.

It would appear that Americans have been less than impressed with the President’s “leading by haranguing”. They are beginning to say collectively, “either lead, follow, or get out of the way.” And Barry appears to be choosing the later.

BO’s approval at Real Clear Politic’s 44.9 / 49.8 has been mostly steady the past three days, FWIW.

  2. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

    ..maybe gone up .5

  3. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

    Oops, I mean down, Mark.

  4. Matt "MWS" Says:

Obama is well into the “danger zone” for incumbents. I wonder if historically there is some inflection point in the declining numbers, past which no President has ever recovered.

    #1,

    B.O. STINKS

  6. Thomas Alan Says:

If Obama’s approval rating dips below 40%, it should be news.

  7. LV Says:

Right not it looks good for a Republican President in 2012…..That is, if the Tea Party doesn’t decide to screw it up.

  8. Thomas Alan Says:

I feel pretty good. Right now it’s either Romney or Perry. I think they can both win.

Does anyone think that Bachmann won’t implode?

  9. jarvis Says:

Did the house just pass a bill to raise debt ceiling?

  10. Thomas Alan Says:

    yes

  11. LV Says:

    #8 Thomas….

I think Bachmann will implode if she doesn’t do well in the Iowa debates next month….She’s starting to look pretty tired.

  12. Craig For Huck, Bach, Rick, or Mitt Says:

And if she looks great once again, she will continue the Bachmann Surgeā„¢ much to the establishment’s chagrin.

  13. Jack Bauer's Dad Says:

I was waiting for this to come up here at Race, as I saw it elsewhere earlier. Which of you poll junkies will break this down as to what some of the daily numbers were. Just curious; a day or even two must have been below 40% in order to average 40% for three days.

  14. Alvin Says:

The Senate will table the bill that the House passed, there is no debt ceiling compromise in sight. The MSM has been in hyperdrive trying to spin this latest fiasco courtesy of the continuing incompetence of the White House, but even their best efforts can’t save the President any more. The President has proven yet again that he just doesn’t know what the hell he is doing. Hope and change are abstract, and when left that way the President was able to use grand rhetorical flourish to sway an electorate ready to believe anything. Under the harsh light of reality though the President has proven, not unlike most all politicians, that he is all talk. But worse for this particular President, he is also clueless and has no discernible leadership skills.

In other words, I have never been more confident of a Republican victory in 2012 then at this moment, if we nominate a viable alternative with real ideas.

    11, 12:

One debate is neither here nor there. She may even make it to Iowa, but if she ever wins anything she better be ready to duck. It won’t just be the establishment that goes after her.

  16. pea-jay Says:

With this whole debt ceiling fiasco, I’m beginning to think it is entirely possible that we might have a Republican president and a Democratic House in 2012.

  17. RUBIOZONE Says:

Id take the republican president even with a dem house. Look at what obama has done to our standing in the world. A republican president will fix that.

  18. Ryan Says:

Barry’s job approval numbers (and the direction and magnitude of their movement) are only relevant relative to Senate Dem and House Repub job approval numbers.
