T-Paw on the Couch

While in NY, Pawlenty sat down for a number of interviews.  The first two are “on the couch” interviews and the last one, on Morning Joe, is half and half.   Notice how much more animated, comfortable, and confident he is when interacting.  In the Morning Joe interview, there are moments in the second half where he drones a little.  But overall, he is getting close to being a first-rate interviewee.  One of the advantages, I think, of getting out on the trail early and working the kinks out.  Oh, and for Pat Buchanan fans, Pawlenty has a little…fun with him.

The only question left in my mind is, what do I have to do to sit that close to Molly Line?

…Okay, that was actually the first question I had before watching any of the videos…

I have always found TPAW’s interviewing skills to be below average…but he is getting better..but not great. I Hope he gets a little better.

    Just keep working it TPAW.

This is what Palin should have been doing for the last three years…..polishing this skill up.

Developed a little facial tic when talking about the bus tour.

    nerves…

    heh heh

  4. teledude Says:

Pawlenty came from a blue collar background?

    Hadn’t heard that…

    Smackalamadingdong,

I think you’re being too hard on TPaw. I think he does a pretty decent interview. He’s not quite at Huck’s and Romney’s level yet, but I think he will be with a little more practice. He’s a heckuva lot better than the President of Verbal Fillers and First Person Pronouns.

I give TPaw an A- on these interviews.

    Oh, and…..

    PAT’S THE MAN!!!!!

  7. MarqueG Says:

Whoa! Just got through the Morning Joe vid and I gotta say, the snarky digs a Buchanan were pretty low cheap shots. I’m not a Buchanan booster, but he ain’t nuts, and he’s sort of an elder gentleman of the GOP. No need to insult a senior twice unprovoked like that.

Otherwise, not being a student of the Prawn, I thought he did well in the interviews. It is well worth beating the drum as Tim did that Bam isn’t leading. That was the clear point made under the question in all the videos and the funny tweet, “Where’s the President’s plan for Medicare?”

  8. Matt "MWS" Says:

    Marque,

I’m a veteran of the Buchanan Brigades. I met Pat while I volunteered for his fundraiser in Jacksonville, IL during the ’96 campaign. He has been for many years my biggest political idol, and is probably the one politician I would ever take a bullet for.

I didn’t see TPaw’s comments as anything other than light hearted banter. I bust people’s chops like that all the time that I like.

  9. MikeZ Says:

Someone tell Tim to shut his mouth when he’s spoken to.

  10. Heath Says:

I’ll give him this much he is improving. Still has no chance but not all is lost for perhaps being on Mitt or Rick’s ticket. Depends if he behaves of course.
