Guess who just received an invitation to a bloggers only conference call with Gov. Rick Perry? None other than yours truly, Managing Editor of Race42012.com.
I should have mentioned that the invitation goes out of its way to mention that the blogger’s call is happening after the conclusion of the Texas Legislative session.
The more, the merrier I guess. At this point, I’m kind of hoping Rudy and Palin get in too. Let’s have a real contested primary for once. No one will have any niche of the GOP to themselves. May the best person win.
Well one thing we know is that the entrance of Giuliani and/or Perry will both serve to make the questionable front-runner even less of a front runner.
2008 presidential endorsementsIn October 2007, despite their political differences on many social issues, Perry endorsed Rudy Giuliani for President. “Rudy Giuliani is the most prepared individual of either party to be the next President… I’m not talkin’ about any mayor, I’m talkin’ about America’s Mayor,” Perry said. -W
VAN SUSTEREN: Is there any way you could ever support Governor Mitt Romney in light of the fact that the Massachusetts health care program is so similar to the national health care plan?
PERRY: I think it’s a problem to go — if he were to stand up and say “You know what, this was a program that didn’t work, and I wish I hadn’t tried it” — I think that would help him substantially.
But the fact is: they are so similar that it is going to be a major anchor unless he stands up and repudiates that approach.
Texas, I remember that and want to note that Romney had nothing but high praise for Perry when he was in Texas last week or so.
Perry can run if he feeLs he must, but he looks and sounds so much like George Bush that he won’t get off the ground. I’ve felt for months that he was being severely disingenuous with the denials, and he’s never impressed me at all.
Perry would be a huge addition to the field. No one in the current field can touch his record. Campaigning on creating more jobs than the rest of the nation combined will be very substantial.
I think he is our best shot to beat Obama with Pawlenty and Romney behind him.
Perry is probably has the best chance to beat Romney, but his entry would not be the same as Daniels’ even though people are lumping them together since Mitch declined to get in. Perry would have more Palinista/Tea Party supporters, but likely less Bushworld support. Remember the Bushies tried to topple Perry with KBH in the primary. In fact, Perry would likely push the remaining Daniels backers from Bushworld to Romney. Perry does have the potential to clear the Palin/Bachmann/Cain/Gingrich crowd out of the race and give the Tea Party a single candidate to rally around, which is their best chance to get the nod.
Hopefully he gets in, if anything, to clear out the no-chancers and give us a legit four-way debate between Romney, Pawlenty, Perry, and Huntsman without the noise of the not-even-if-Hell-froze candidates.
Perry, though, is not the dream candidate the Tea Party thinks he is. He has quite a few blemishes on his conservative cred, but maybe when matched against RomneyCare, it won’t matter.
Been saying he’s likely to run for 2 years. Maybe someone will start to give Heath some love now (and maybe one day FP privileges which is a dream).
Anyway the game is now officially over for T/Paw. Imagine if the “big 3″ Rick, Rudy & Palin all get in?! He’s be stuck at around 3-4% in the polls lol.
Look I quite like T/Paw – but he was NEVER going to be a factor in 2012 and his boomlet has been THE shortest in presidential history! Jon next lol.

Have fun stormin’ the castle, Kavon
Would be nice if Perry gets in. Rudy and Rick = The Adults

I bet you get nothing definite from the call. Only more hemming and hawing.
He probably has not decided whether to put his hat into the ring.
May 27th, 2011 at 5:08 pm
Why would he be doing this if he is not amping up for a presidential run?
May 27th, 2011 at 5:10 pm
You will have to tell us all the details. Inquiring minds want to know!

I had no idea cross-dressing was an adult thing to do. I guess I’m too childish for that stuff.

CF,
What do you know about cross-dressing?

Doesn’t Texas under 10 1/2 year Governor Perry lead the nation in job growth?

Congrats Kavon.

Now we know why weeks ago, Perry came out shooting at Romney.

Rick Perry = The new and improved (or not) Mitch Daniels

Perry does offer the best contrast in philosophy with Obama.
May 27th, 2011 at 6:35 pm
And if he loses he can just Texas out of the Union.

Congrats Kavon, let us know all the gory (or juicy) details.
May 27th, 2011 at 7:45 pm
28 – Max I don’t think huntsman has any chance regardless. Perry will certainly draw establishment support just not as much as Mitch.
May 27th, 2011 at 7:48 pm
Craig,
Glad to see you did not go to the beautiful Big Sur cliffs.
As always, you never get it right,it’s PALIN-GIULIANI.
He clearly said:”I will run only if(my friend) Sarah Palin runs.
