The Des Moines Register has the scoop:
“[T]he former two-term governor is also expected this week to name staff to lead his preparations for Iowa’s caucuses, and is planning an early April return to the leadoff caucus state…
[Pawlenty] is expected to return on April 1 and 2, and is planning a spring campaign announcement.”
It will be interesting to see who is on his Iowa campaign team when he unveils it (and who those team members supported in 2008). Pawlenty has to exceed expectations in Iowa to have a shot at the nomination, so he has got to be chasing the top talent in the state.

i am now expecting a grand total of 2012 announcements of 10 or less total hate to say it ….
March 21st, 2011 at 3:37 pm
#3, greg, there’ll be 5-6 major candidates and probably the same for the minors.
March 21st, 2011 at 4:11 pm
For Sure:
Romney
Gingrich
Pawlenty
Barbour
Santorum
etc. minor names
Maybe:
Palin
Bachman
Daniels
No:
Huckabee
Thune
DeMint
Giuliani
Might be missing a couple in each category, but this isn’t going to be the huge field like last time.
Although hopefully, now that we have a serious candidate actually out there campaigning, the rest will start to jump in.

does t-paw’s announcement make other candidates thinking of jumping in set a firm deadline now just curious ?

There are only 3 plausible Republican presidents in the mix:
1. Mitt Romney
2. Tim Pawlenty
3. Jon Huntsman
And 4. Mitch Daniels, if he gets in. But it looks like he won’t. The others are window dressing, included in the discussion solely to fulfill the mathematical requirements of Chaos Theory.

Pawlenty just lied to Greta. He said he was the first to call for a no-fly zone in Libya. The earliest statement from I could find from him came on March 7th(http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0311/50839.html)…a full two weeks after Palin’s Facebook note (http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150096802933435).
