Per WSJ, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour has asked GOP donors to hold off on deciding which candidate they will back in 2012 until he has made his decision:

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is now calling wealthy Republicans to ask them to “keep their powder dry,” as one donor put it, until he decides whether he will run. Mr. Barbour traveled Wednesday to the early-primary state of South Carolina to meet with prominent Republicans.

With Barbour perhaps being the most powerful person in the Republican Party at this time, his request will undoubtedly be given strong consideration by many. However, what does thisĀ  mean for his friend and ally Mitch Daniels and his nascent presidential run? Stay tuned…

LOL – he’d better not be another Fred. Crazy good when you could get him to actually campaign, but hardly ever wanting to actually… campaign.

    Here comes Foghorn Leghorn!

I have also told these same donors to keep their powder dry, in a strictly metaphoric and non-violence-inducing sense, as I am once again undecided on a Presidential run myself.

The people want me. Now I just need to decide if the people deserve me.

More like, wait for my signal as to who to throw your weight behind.

There’s no way ex-lobbyist Haley, who is a keen strategist, is dumb enough to think he could win.

I’d bet he wants to find the guy he wants to boost and throw tons of backing behind him at the right time. Perhaps a new guy like Daniels who would need the big names propelling him?

He’s not running…he wants them to support Daniels. In fact, it looks more and more like mitch is running. What a mess that would make. Mitch Daniels could be the guy…and if huck doesn’t run, he WILL endorse Mitch. I know there was the social issue concern before, but mitch is a socon…he’s just a realist and not militant. Huck likes Mitch and they are friends…wouldn’t surprise me if huck is waiting to see if daniels runs. Of course i have mixed feelings about mitch. So what the HECK AM I GONNA DO. I’m running out of options.

He’s just another stereotype political boss, just like the ones in Chicago. How many favors is gonna pass out?
