Poll Watch: Strategic National 2012 Iowa Republican Caucuses Poll

Strategic National 2012 Iowa Republican Caucuses Poll

  • Mike Huckabee 27.56%
  • Mitt Romney 18.54%
  • Undecided 17.56%
  • Sarah Palin 12.44%
  • Newt Gingrich 12.20%
  • Tim Pawlenty 4.39%
  • Michele Bachmann 3.66%
  • John Thune 1.95%
  • Rick Santorum 0.98%
  • Other/Undecided 0.49%
  • Haley Barbour 0.24%

Strategic National surveyed a random sample of typical Iowa caucus goers. The statewide, automated poll had a total of 410 respondents, 52% female and 48% male. It was conducted on January 18, 2010, and has a margin of error of +/- 4.8%.

Inside the numbers:

Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gov. Mitt Romney, Gov. Sarah Palin, Speaker Newt Gingrich, Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Rep. Michele Bachmann, Sen. John Thune, Sen. Rick Santorum, and Gov. Haley Barbour were included on the poll.

“Governor Huckabee has an early lead in the 1st in the nation caucus state”, said John Yob, CEO of Strategic National. “He is a frontrunner for the nomination if he chooses to run and people would be wise to take him very seriously.”

Caucus goers were also polled on perceptions of tension between science and Christianity’s accounts of the creation of the universe. 42% of responders feel that science and Genesis were in conflict, and 68% believe that the world was created in six days. About 45% believe that the world is roughly 10,000 years old.

Mr. Unde Cided could finish 2nd? 8)

  5. Craig Says:

    ..a solid 2nd.

  6. Steven S. Says:

Wake me up when August begins! Red Day lol

  7. Jonathan Says:

Well, it looks like Palin’s core of supporters is retreating to a smaller and smaller base. They’ll still vote for her if it’s raining cats and dogs, but the number of those who will do it is slowly shrinking.

  8. Steven S. Says:

All she needs is Dems to register Repub. and then do an Operation Chaos.

  9. Craig Says:

    If Un-Cided and T-Paw “joined forces” they’d have 22.93% ;)

And Huck will take ’bout 8% of that Palinator vote (Mrs. Bachmann, the remainder) when she announces she’s not running but waiting till another presidential cycle rolls around.

So we may have it at about:

•Mike Huckabee 35.56% ..about the same as in ’08
•Tim Pawlenty 22.93% ..watch his new video!!!
•Mitt Romney 18.54% ..slip slidin’ away
    •Newt Gingrich 12.20%
    •Michele Bachmann 3.66% (& 4.44% from Sarah’s hardcore support)
    •John Thune 1.95%
    •Rick Santorum 0.98%
•Haley Barbour 0.24% ..this dude ain’t running except to BBQ

  10. Jonathan Says:

Also, both in New Hampshire and Iowa, the undecided voters are a good chunk of voters. The odds of them going to one of the people they already know well (the Big Three plus Newt) seems slim to me. They probably want to look at the other candidates before makign a decision. If one of them has something these undecideds are looking for, they’ll start to rise.

  11. Steven S. Says:

Looking down the list, I see a tough battle for 3rd between Palin and Gingrich. Pawlenty slowly rising. Everyone else not there yet.

  12. Matt "MWS" Says:

I’m surprised TPaw’s Iowa numbers are slightly lagging his national numbers. I would have assumed it the other way around.

Thune from neighboring Dakota and Daniels from Indiana say, “Pick me, pick me!!”

Huck says, “Or you could pick the winner.”

  14. Steven S. Says:

Don’t think Pawlenty won’t get a chunk of Evangelical votes in Iowa. It might be Pawlenty in 1st, then Huck, then Romney. What happens then? Romney ekes out a win in NH with Pawlenty 2nd. Romney still wins Nevada, but what happens in SC at that point?

  15. Craig Says:

Pawlenty is an Evangelical from next door, Steven.

  16. Steven S. Says:

Is it possible to have a race down to Romney vs. Pawlenty?

  17. Craig Says:

I think NH will wind up in the end, a lot closer race than Iowa.

  18. Steven S. Says:

Rasmussen showed a dead heat between Palin and Huckabee with Evangelical voters. If Pawlenty catches fire, it could hurt Huckabee as much in the South and Midwest as it does Romney in the North and some parts of the West.

  19. Craig Says:

And Huck will win SC by 5-7. Florida by three.

..On his way to the nomination in Tampa. We’ll see.

  20. Steven S. Says:

If Pawlenty wins Iowa, Huckabee is in trouble. Romney will be in trouble if Pawlenty then wins NH. Then we might have a race that’s over. Its a possibility, but about a 20% chance of happening.

  21. Matt "MWS" Says:

    Steven,

“Is it possible to have a race down to Romney vs. Pawlenty?”

Of course. Lots of things are possible this far out. Well, maybe not Cain vs. Santorum, but you know what I mean.

In fact, I think Pawlenty vs Romney is fairly likely if Huck and Palin both sit out.

  22. Steven S. Says:

The only givens right now are Huckabee wins Arkansas and Romney wins Utah. Huckabee can lose Mississippi and Alabama with a Barbour, Palin, or Gingrich gaining ground. Romney can lose the Northeast with a Rudy or Chris Christie (maybe even Palin) Romney can lose Utah and Nevada if a Huntsman Jr. get in. Alaska is anybody’s to grab. The Great Lakes states can be a battle if Daniels, Thune, or Pawlenty get strong momentum.

    Good point, Matt.

  24. Matt "MWS" Says:

If we’re talking religious demographics, one area TPaw could hurt Mitt is among Catholics. We aren’t exactly bloc voting (and haven’t for some time) but Mitt tends to poll well among Catholics. TPaw’s threat among evangelicals is more obvious, but he is also a former Catholic, and still speaks Catholicese.

  25. Steven S. Says:

I think its likely WITH Palin and Huckabee in the race. Both will run.

  26. Granny T Says:

Strategic National polled the two earliest states – showing the same leaders as the other polling firms that have polled them – Mitt winning New Hampshire and Huckabee winning Iowa. Do you think they’ll be polling Nevada and South Carolina – or releasing results for those states soon?

  27. Steven S. Says:

Gingrich or Palin can be a threat to Romney in the North east with Catholics, I agree. I don’t expect Catholics to support Huckabee in a majority. That’s what is the problem when it comes to general election in these battleground states. These states have both Evangelical voters and Catholic voters. Protestants who don’t call themselves Evangelicals seem to not have as much animosity towards Romney as do Evangelicals (see Rasmussen poll). Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Virginia are states that have such a mix.

  28. Craig Says:

    25. Steven,

How do you know Palin will run when in almost every poll, it shows she’s about 20 points or more behind Obama with dreadful national favorables while maxed out in her recognizability? (Not sure if that’s a word.)

  29. Steven S. Says:

Same goes for the west. If Huck gets the nomination, he will not win Nevada or Colorado. He would struggle in Arizona and Montana. He would win Idaho by a small margin (28% Mormon, 72% not), but he blows his chances in Utah. Michigan won’t be in play. Florida might not be as easy as he thinks. Ohio is still a tossup and Pennsylvania will still be blue. North Carolina and Indiana would be back in our column, but Virginia would still be a struggle. Iowa isn’t a guarantee either. They seem to like Obama even as of December.

  30. Craig Says:

I think the only ones that want Palin to run are the White House and Rombots.

And the 96 folks who post at C4P.

  31. Granny T Says:

Was the earth created in six days?

    * Yes 67.80%
    * No 18.29%
    * Unsure 13.90%

Looks like I agree with the majority of Iowans. 8)

  32. Steven S. Says:

Palin doesn’t care about polls or media. She will do what she wants to do. That’s what I’ve seen from her these past 2 years. It can be a good attribute, but it can costly too.

  33. Craig Says:

Florida and Ohio are never easy. But always necessary.

  34. Steven S. Says:

As for Huck, he’s in. I have always said, if Romney runs, Huckabee is in. Its as safe as prediciting that the sun will come up out of the east and set in the west.

  35. Steven S. Says:

The Earth was created in 6 days. At least we agree on something.

  36. Craig Says:

I think we’ll need a running mate from either Ohio if Huck wins or Florida if Mitt wins.

    They’re that critical.

  37. Max Twain Says:

Romney pulling away in New Hampshire while cutting Huck’s Iowa lead to single digits with a huge undecided block.

Plus, Huck will be on the sidelines until late summer at the earliest, with little to no money in the bank.

Romney is now confirmed as the solid frontrunner in the race.

  38. Max Twain Says:

“I think NH will wind up in the end, a lot closer race than Iowa.”

Of course Craig uses his usual nothing to back up these kinds of statements. The polls clearly indicate a closer Iowa race, which flies in the face of everything Craig has told us up to this point about how much of a lock Iowa is for Huck. Clearly, NH is more likely a win for Mitt then Iowa is for Huck, per the results of all the polls we’ve seen.

  39. Metro Says:

OMG @ the number of people who think the earth was created in six days.

Large masses rejecting scientific facts, reminds of Germany electing Hitler.

Makes electing a theocratic candidate that much scarier.

I will never vote for Huckabee in a general election.

  40. Max Twain Says:

The earth is 4.54 billion years old. That 45% number is a bit frightening and makes one worry about the future of our species. It’s also a good argument for limiting the right to vote for people with a brain, but unfortunately the Constitution empowers the stupid and the deranged as much as the educated.

  41. Jack Bunyon Says:

As for Huck, he’s in. I have always said, if Romney runs, Huckabee is in.

You make it sound as if it’s part of Huck’s criteria.

  42. Metro Says:

At least with evolution, I can see how the small minds of religious people could get honestly confused.

But when it comes to the age of rocks, there is no debate. You people should be subject to public ridicule.

  43. Max Twain Says:

    Metro,

You won’t have to. The fat man won’t bother running, and if he does will be spent out of existence. Pawlenty will be working hard in Iowa while Huck’s sits on the sidelines. People aren’t going to wait for King Huck to bestow them with his presence. They will side with the people working for their votes, not the people too lazy to run.

  44. Metro Says:

When I was a teenager during the Reagan Revolution, the GOP was still largely the party of smart, successful white-collar people, and the Democrats the party of the uneducated blue-collar people.

Now, thanks to the religious right, Sarah Palin, etc, you folks have turned it upside down. And you wonder why the largest electoral prizes are out of your grasp.

This is why I dropped the Republican label and will never call myself one again.

  45. Max Twain Says:

“In fact, I think Pawlenty vs Romney is fairly likely if Huck and Palin both sit out.”

It can more basically be summed up as the winner of Iowa vs Romney.

    1) If Romney wins Iowa, it’s over.
    2) If Huck, Palin sits out, a Pawlenty/Thune/Barbour/Pence could win Iowa in their place
    3) Mitt will still be the frontrunner in NH regardless of HuckaPalin’s decision

  46. Metro Says:

Worse yet, you’ve taken free-market economics, the smart and rational answer to our nation’s problems, and by aligning it with people who deny the age of rocks, you’ve smeared free-market economics, such that otherwise educated people who don’t understand economics would never assume it would be correct since so many educated idiots are in the same party.

  47. Max Twain Says:

    Metro,

Not that I don’t appreciate your rant against the Huckaloons, but an argument could be made that the free-market solutions of Paul Ryan’s roadmap could be more dangerous for our party then anything Palin or Bachmann have ever said.

    Just sayin

Romney does seem to have a very stable and consistant 19%. If he can peel off a few voters to come in a strong 2nd place, in the low 20′s, that’s pretty good. Huck has to win Iowa, and by 30% or more, to not be reported as a disappointment. Romney can take a strong 2nd, in a state no one expects him to win and galvanize his NH margins, toss in NV (and AZ if they go early) and well…you guuys can take it from here.

  65. Craig Says:

“The Family Leader also plans to play a major role in the upcoming Iowa Caucus. It is clear that whichever presidential candidate receives the endorsement of The Family Leader will receive a large boost and stand a good chance of winning the nation’s first presidential nominating process.

If Mike Huckabee runs for President, he is obviously the odds-on favorite to earn The Family Leader’s endorsement. Vander Plaats was Huckabee’s state chair for the 2008 campaign. The former Arkansas governor’s last two visits to Iowa were to raise money for the IFPC. It is hard to imagine the group endorsing anyone instead of Huckabee.

Some attendees have privately suggested that Vander Plaats’ current tour is a thinly veiled campaign on behalf of Huckabee. Indeed, Vander Plaats mentions Huckabee at almost every stop. The events are frequently held in the same Pizza Ranch locations that Huckabee and BVP toured in 2007. Additionally, Vander Plaats was quoted recently saying he advised Huckabee not to begin his campaign until August. That seems like an awfully late start. However, with Vander Plaats and The Family Leader already laying the grassroots groundwork, it would make things much easier for Huckabee to step into the race late and still walk away with a victory.”

I can tell you without a doubt…the earth is older than most christians think. The bible doesn’t tell us how old the earth exactly is. People get confused, because the biblical bloodline from Adam is about 6-7 thousand years…but what most christians aren’t taught, is that there was an original created earth that was destroyed as a part of Satan’s rebellion. Genesis 1:1

  72. wateredseeds Says:

I can tell you without a doubt…the earth is older than most christians think. The bible doesn’t tell us how old the earth exactly is. People get confused, because the biblical bloodline from Adam is about 6-7 thousand years…but what most christians aren’t taught, is that there was an original created earth that was destroyed as a part of Satan’s rebellion. Genesis 1:1 is in the dateless past, and genesis 1:2 shows us an indicator that there was something there.

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”-Genesis 1:2

The problem we see here immediately is a seeming contradiction of Isaiah 45:18 which says,

“For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.”-Isaiah 45:18

The reason that it looks like a contradiction is because of the word tohu, which is the hebrew word translated as vain in Isaiah 45:18, and without form in Genesis 1:2. So Genesis 1:2 tells us the earth “was” tohu, and Isaiah 45:18 says he created it not tohu. But this isn’t really a contradiction because Genesis 1:2 is mistranslated. The word “was” in Genesis 1:2 is the hebrew word hayah which means became. So the verse should read, “And the earth became without form, and void”. This is alluding to the original earth which is spoken of in Jeremiah 4.

“I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens had fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by His fierce anger.”-Jeremiah 4:23-26

Notice the language from verse 23 is very close to that of Genesis 1:2. Notice also that there was no man, which in hebrew is the wrod adam…and so this passage is telling us that the earth that Jeremiah was seeing(which was a flashback) had no descendants of Adam. That means that what ever inhabited these cities was not the same as us. Now for people who get the idea that evolution is true…the bible absolutely is adamant about the fact that GOD CREATED US. He did not evolve us…but most of what we see as remnants from civilizations dated millions of years ago…and even the fossils of dinosaurs are from the original earth…that God destroyed because it took part in Satan’s rebellion. I’ve done studies on this topic for a long time. In short, does the bible indicate anywhere that the earth is very young? No, it does not.

  73. Michael NY Says:

I would not considering winning a group of people who think the earth is only 10,000 years old as a positive thing. I question their intelligence here.

And I think this information solidifies my support for Romney. For much too long, the GOP has been labeled the party of idiots and intellectual lightweights thanks to the religious right and radicals. With a Mitt Romney as a candidate, we can start to put aside that terrible label because no one, I mean NO ONE, questions his intelligence. I believe Mitch Daniels-like Republicans also fit this mold.

If we elect a person like Huckabee who starts slewing this earth is 10,000 years old nonsense, the GOP will sink further away from being the party of reason and intelligence.

  74. wateredseeds Says:

    Michael NY,

While i personally, and biblically speaking believe the earth is much older than 10,000 years….i would rather have faith than intelligence. Intelligence can’t get you to heaven. This all coming from a person with a decent IQ, who is very self educated.

  75. Bob Hovic Says:

Nothing very surprising in either New Hampshire or Iowa polls — everybody just about where I would expect.

Biggest surprise for me was that Santorum did better in NH than in IA. And when that’s the big news, it means there ain’t much news.

  76. Michael NY Says:

I don’t want to get into a religious argument, but giving no credence to the benefit of intelligence is not a very good attribute. This kind of disillusioned thinking is precisely what caused the Catholic church to lose power at the time of the Renaissance. Eventually, the acceptance of science had the upper hand and anyone who didn’t believe at least parts of it were left behind powerless.

  77. OHIO JOE Says:

“And I think this information solidifies my support for Romney.” Ironic when most Romneyites claim that they do not vote on religion.

  78. Steven S. Says:

North Carolina numbers are out. Wait till Huck supporters see what happened with Independents. Going to have a cow.

  79. Steven S. Says:

Huckabee has not gotten less popular overall, nor Palin much better liked, but in the
horse races, independents have moved from 47-37 in Huckabee’s favor to 51-40 in
Obama’s, a 21-point shift on the margin, albeit with a group that makes up less than a
fifth of the electorate. The president still leads Romney by five points with them,
Gingrich by seven, and Palin by 16.

  80. Max Twain Says:

PPP is unreliable in NC. They had Burr is trouble in NC and he won comfortably.

  81. Dave Says:

What this poll tells us is that Romney can win Iowa, while the New Hampshire poll tells us that Huckabee can NOT win NH.

BTW, It was the Universe that was created in 6 days, but from the frame of reference of Universal expansion, which, immediately following the Big Bang, was nearly at the speed of light. It’s basic relativity theory that time dilation effects dictate that, translated into Earth days, the first days encompassed a VERY long time.

Doing the math, the first day of creation took something like 7 Billion Years. The second day took more than 3 Billion, since the speed of Universal Expansion was slowing down, but still nearly at the speed of light.

The Earth was created on the third day, roughly 4 to 4 1/2 Billion Years ago. Schroeder, in his book, THE SCIENCE OF GOD, goes into this in considerable detail. The important thing to note is that since the Earth wasn’t created until the 3rd day, Genesis OBVIOUSLY isn’t talking about Earth days as a frame of reference.

  82. wateredseeds Says:

    Dave 81,

I totally reject that viewpoint. While the bang may have actually happened at God’s command…and taken a very long time…it was NOT part of the first day. The first day spoken of in Genesis does not begin until verse 3. And in reading the language(especially the hebrew), we can see that God was restoring the earth to a habitable state…and created “new” animals and created adam and eve. This was not the original creation…which the dinosaurs walked on…as i said, there is a distinct scriptural difference between creation and restoration.

  83. Steven S. Says:

    http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Release_NC_0125925.pdf

Huckabee still has sky high favorables with Conservatives and Republicans compared to Romney, but doesn’t translate to General Election:

    Conservatives Favorables:
    Palin 67/24
    Huckabee 64/13
    Romney 45/21

    General Election (Cons):
    Huckabee 74, Obama 21
    Romney 72, Obama 18
    Palin 71, Obama 19

    Republicans Favorables:
    Palin 73/17
    Huckabee 69/11
    Romney 51/20

    General Election (Reps)
    Huckabee 85, Obama 9
    Romney 86, Obama 7
    Palin 79, Obama 11

Study these numbers and tell me how these numbers make sense?

  84. Granny T Says:

Fred Thompson didn’t finally make up his mind and announce until September. He is also MUCH older than Huckabee – and showed it. Huckabee could follow the advice of his former Iowa state chair and wait until sometime in August. Yes, he will miss some of the early debates – but there are plenty of us that will be watching (just in case he doesn’t run) – but it will take a LOT to get us to change our mind totally. We KNOW he’s not planning on making a decision until later – so we won’t be giving up until the END of summer. IF he still hasn’t announced by mid to late September (autumn); I’ll start making other plans on who to vote for. Last time around I was waiting on Fred – but still hadn’t totally made up my mind. If he would have participated in that debate instead of choosing to announce his entrance to the race on NBC – Huckabee might not have had the chance to win my heart and my enthusiastic support. Then when Fred chose to air a negative ad against my new candidate at the first debate he did bother to show up for – he lost me forever. “Dead Fred” didn’t show any enthusiasm at all – until he decided to block for his good buddy and co-sponsor of Thompson/McCain/Feingold. Anyone that thinks he was in the race for any more than that is delusional. He is a good actor and just moved from NBC to GOP until he completed his new assignment – to help McCain beat Huckabee in South Carolina.

  85. Steven S. Says:

Romney holds his own against Huckabee in General Election numbers with much lower Favorables yet Palin is even higher than Huckabee’s favorables and still does far worse than Romney.

  86. ellie Says:

I peronally don’t care how long ago the earth was or was not created. I’m here today, and I have to deal with how I live on this earth today!

That said, I agree that this shows that Romney can win Iowa, and Huck can’t win NH.

  87. Dave Says:

    Watered,

There is significant Geological evidence that the Earth is more than 3.8 Billion years old. This, in no way, shape, mean, manner, or form is in conflict with the Genesis account. In fact, it was Genesis that first laid out the order of creation of life forms and got it exactly right…..thousands of years before Science confirmed it.

BTW, I suggest taking a basic Cosmology course.

  88. nowandlater Says:

“and AZ if they go early” That is a big if, and frankly, I would not be so sure Mr. Romney would win AZ anyway.

OHIOJOE, Arizona politics IS national politics and any traction here will garner significant attention and will impact the remaining races if it is early in the primary. While I don’t think it is a lock for Romney putting AZ in play is a game changer/huge wild card. And this wild card has many elements which point in Romney favor.

  89. Granny T Says:

It’s also a good argument for limiting the right to vote for people with a brain, but unfortunately the Constitution empowers the stupid and the deranged as much as the educated.

    No college degree:
    Obama 53% to McCain 46%

    College graduates:
    Obama 53% to McCain 45%

    http://observationalism.com/2008/11/09/selected-exit-poll-comparisons-2000-2004-2008/

If the “educated” were as smart as some think they are – why did Obama kick McCain’s butt among that group 1 point better than he did among the uneducated? Wouldn’t you have thought the more educated people would have had enough sense to vote for McCain? Education doesn’t always equal intelligence.

  90. Max Twain Says:

    89.

Because minorities, especially blacks, fall into that ‘no degree’ group, and they turned out in record numbers for Obama.

  91. Max Twain Says:

And the educated took one look at an old man and a nimrod and said no thanks.

  92. wateredseeds Says:

    Dave,

I believe most of what is taught in a science class. There are a few things that are not correct in my view…such as darwinism. As far as the age of the earth goes, like i said, it is irrelevant to the bible, because there was an original earth creation…that took place long before Adam. Most people would be shocked to see that the bible actually confirms a lot of science.

Ever heard of pangea? Genesis 10:25

  93. Craig Says:

    Poor li’l Max.

He’s having such a bad year so far with all these polls forcing him to move Huck from 8th last year to SECOND in his rankings this year.

    COMEDY GOLD! :) !

  94. Dave Says:

    watered,

I’d missed the reference to Pangaea in Genesis. Thanks.

BTW, did you catch the reference to the creation of Dinosaurs in Genesis? Also, the Archaeopteryx?

    Schroeder covers both.

  95. Craig Says:

    Seven down, one to go…

Now Max is clinging to Willard, his Huck “stopper” with everything he’s got. After that fails and it will, it’s off to the Obama camp for the DinoMax.

    8)

  96. wateredseeds Says:

    Dave,

Dinosaurs were part of pre-adamite civilization. While many people “try” to reconcile Adam and the dinosaurs, they quite simply did not walk the earth at the same time. I’ve been studying this subject for years, and it baffles me how many “christians” use fuzzy science to reconcile things…when the bible reconciles itself.

  97. Dave Says:

    watered,

How could Adam and Dinosaurs POSSIBLY be reconciled?

BTW, The Cambrian Explosion, all by itself, debunks Darwinism. That, plus the lack of a single, transitional fossil in the entire fossil record.

  98. wateredseeds Says:

    Dave,

Before you mentioned a reference to the creation of the dinosaurs in genesis. Exactly where is that? If you are alluding to anything in chapter 1, check the language again…dinosaurs aren’t mentioned. While many young earthers count them in with the creation of other animals in chapter 1…i still contend that they are not mentioned, and that they belonged to the pre-adamite civilization.

  99. Max Twain Says:

Actually Craig, if you had been following the rankings since the beginning you’d know Huck had reached as high as #2 two years ago, and remained high until the Clemmons shootings.

  100. Max Twain Says:

Iowa House Majority Leader announced she’s prepared to support Gingrich, along with Georgia Gov. Deal. Huck’s list of potential allies keeps getting smaller and smaller!

  101. Max Twain Says:

Poor Craig, the evidence continues to mount that all-time worst fundraiser Mike Huckafool will non run in the GOP primary.

No word yet if he will run in the Democratic primary, since it is his natural home among the left-wing, big tax, pro-amnesty crowd.

  102. Craig Says:

8th to 2nd IS impressive in one year with all the mud you’ve slinged at Huck..

    Hang in there, Max.

And keep praying Huck doesn’t wipe out the field in Iowa AGAIN… and then win in SC & FL on to the nomination.

You just might have to move MIKE HUCKABEE to first then.

I kinda feel sorry for you. Nah, not really. You’ll be at Kos. ;)

  103. Craig Says:

You don’t even know how desperate you sound when you diss Huck 24/7. The liberals must be so proud of you, Max. How do you feel?

Oh wait, you are a flaming social liberal so why would you even care!!!

    8)

  104. Heath Says:

T/Paw may as well stay at home and make more videos lol.

  105. Anteater Says:

This race could come down to Huckabee vs. Pawlenty if Huck wins Iowa and Pawlenty wins NH…

  106. Max Twain Says:

Craig, your pathetic clinging to PPP polls make you sound the most desperate of all. The fact is you were completely wrong about my rankings, proving not only that you are a newbie to this site with no real clue on what’s been going on, but that you’re too stupid to hit the search button to back up your claims.

The first rankings had Huck at #4 in early 2009:

    http://race42012.com/2009/01/20/max-twain-the-inaugural-post/

He reached as high as #2 long ago:

    http://race42012.com/2009/11/08/power-rankings-november/

You’re nonsense and whining about my bias and Huck simply doesn’t bear out with the facts. But facts, like fossils, are things that you have trouble understanding.

    PS:

Even Huck’s own advisers agree with my assessment of his organization:

“Members of his [Mike Huckabee's] inner circle are concerned that while he weighs his options, other candidates are recruiting talented staff and building campaign infrastructure in early voting states.”

  107. Max Twain Says:

“And keep praying Huck doesn’t wipe out the field in Iowa AGAIN”

Why should that worry me? He still got beat after winning Iowa, wasting momentum like no other candidate in history. Maybe you should be worried about the 4th place Iowa finisher kicking Mike’s ass AGAIN.

  108. Max Twain Says:

The liberals are only proud of people like you Craig, because not only do you back far-left tax-hiker Mike Huckaloon, but you also push left-wing Kos polls as valid. You make Arianna Huffington look like Barry Goldwater.

  109. Craig Says:

Max Twain = Extreme Social Liberal in the Wrong Party

The Daily Kos says, “Come home, Max. Please come home. We’re with ya, you nut.” :)

  110. Craig Says:

    Twainee,

Stop denying you had Huck rated 8th just last year. We all know you did.

And thanks for moving him up to SECOND this year :)

  111. Craig Says:

What’s wrong with your homies in Jersey, Max???

They’ve put Huck on top in the brand new poll! Thank you, Joysee!!!

Don’t you just love Kavon posting all these PPP polls daily?

I do and I bet that 90+% that come to this site do as well.

Face it, Max.. You and your dinosaur lovers are in the small minority here at Race42012. Just playin’ with ya. ;)

  112. Max Twain Says:

Social liberal? I stand with Goldwater and you, Craig, stand with the biggest fiscal liberal since Nelson Rockefeller.

Hell, Huck makes Nelson look like Reagan!

  113. Max Twain Says:

When did I deny that I had Huck 8th? He dropped following the brutal murder of cops caused by his negligence.

Face it Craig, you have been proven to be a liar. My rankings have had Huck both high and low based on that month’s news surrounding him and other candidates.

Huck is hated in NJ. Only Kos keeps leading you on with his push polls. Rasmussen and other real polls have already put you in your place.

Don’t worry Craig, by the summer most of the party will have chosen candidates and everyone who matters will have forgotten about the fat talk show host who didn’t have the guts to jump in and run a strong campaign.

  114. Craig Says:

Max “Extreme SOCIAL LIBERAL Sharing the Exact Views as Kos” Twain,

Take it up with Kavon (the ownership of this site) if you don’t like him posting all these PPP polls daily.

I love them!!! And I’m sure Kavon does, too. ;)

    Social liberal?

    ===

Bingo! Thanks for admitting what you are.

Of course, you have problems with Mike Huckabee, our top Social Conservative.

LOL! So do your ALL your social liberal friends at the Daily Kos which btw is all of them over there. You fit in perfectly, Mr. EXTREME Social Liberal.

These (Huck’s) Red State voters disagree with your social liberal viewpoints, period. Again, I think you’re in the WRONG party.

    No, even better…

MIKE WORKED WITH the Democrat majority in Arkansas and still balanced the budget for over 10 straight years while governing: building roads, infrastructure and improving quality of education for all children. His state was vastly improved and higher ranked in all these areas when he left office with a high approval rating in the 60s. Who can top that?

So here’s a brief summary to show your friends and others IN NEW JERSEY just how Governor Mike Huckabee really did govern in Arkansas..

    - Doubled the child care tax credit in 1997.
    - Eliminated the capital gains tax on sale of a home.
    - Indexed Arkansas’ state income tax to inflation, keeping people from being pushed into higher tax brackets.
    - Cut taxes nearly 100 times in his state.
    - Eliminated the state income tax for families below poverty level.
    - Left his state with almost $1 billion surplus, a state record.
    - Cut welfare rolls by 50%.
    - Balanced the state budget of Arkansas every year he was governor in Arkansas.
    - Led efforts to establish the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights and a Property Taxpayer Bill of Rights for uniform notice and due process.
    - Plus he made the interstate road system in Arkansas one of the best in the nation, where it had been among the worst, bringing in more trucking and trade. And the small tax the voters raised was repealed once the roads were complete.

AND: Carried out 16 executions in his time as governor of Arkansas which refutes his opponents’ claims that he’s soft on crime.
    - Signed a ban on partial birth abortion.
    - Worked to grant school administrators more flexibility in hiring and firing poor teachers.
    - Moved Arkansas from grade “F” to a “C” in Charitable Choice compliance so Arkansas was only one of twelve states to pass.

All this accomplished by Governor Huckabee while facing a legislature with 89 Democrats out of 100 legislators in the House and only four Republicans in the 35-seat Senate.

Yet, Huckabee found a way to govern, and as I said above, left the state with amazing high approval ratings that still exist to this very day and have now gone national.

  117. Max Twain Says:

He worked with the Democrat party because he was one of them, thinks like them, grants amnesty like them, taxes people like them, pardons murders like them.

We post all polls, even Kos’s, but real conservatives take Kos polls for what they are. Of course, Huckaloons are not conservatives so they embrace the propaganda of Kos.

You’ve become the joke of this site, a crazed little troll who accuses others of links to Kos when you are the biggest supporter of their push polling. You haven’t met a Markos poll that you won’t slobber over.

But soon we’ll be posting all of the quarterly fundraising numbers again, and guess where Huck will rank! Just when you thought his funding couldn’t get more humiliating, he surprises us again! LOL!!!

I should warn you though, your constant spamming of this site with Kos propaganda has gotten many many complaints, so if you’d like to continue posting here I’d cool it if I were you.

I’d hate to see you banned before Huckaloon loses; rubbing your face in his guaranteed failure will be too much fun to miss!

  118. Craig Says:

    •Mike Huckabee 27.56%
    •Mitt Romney 18.54%
    ==

    Don’t give up, Maxosaur. ;)

  119. Craig Says:

    Max,

You are the joke of this site amongst proud Huckabee supporters.

I’ve received several emails about you…

I’d say you’re more in danger of being banned before anyone else here due to your incivilty and rudeness towards Huck, Christians, and others.

But I’d hate to lose you before Huck wins Iowa, SC, and the NOMINATION. 8)

  120. Craig Says:

Again, if you have a problem with Kavon’s posting of ALL the PPP polls, take it up with the ownership.

    I dare you. ;)

  121. Craig Says:

    And Maxy boy,

When you distort Huck’s record at Race42012 which you do daily, I GUARANTEE you, I will set his Arkansas record straight for all to see.

    Every. Single. Time.

    So bring it on, joker.

  122. Max Twain Says:

Craig, you much like your fat talk show host icon, are failures. Huck won’t ever be President, and you will never be taken seriously beyond the crazy Kos loons who’s polls you admire.

You can spin all day and night but Huck’s tax hikes will not go away, his support amnesty will not go away, his love of cap-n-tax will not go away, his support of big bloated left-wing Huckagovernment will not go away. And most of all, Maurice Clemmons will never, ever go away.

  123. Craig Says:

New Poll TODAY just posted by Kavon:

Which potential candidate would you least like to see get the nomination for president…Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee or Newt Gingrich?

    •Sarah Palin 33%
    •Newt Gingrich 23%
    •Mitt Romney 15%
    •Mike Huckabee 13% :)

National survey of 1,000 likely GOP primary voters

    ====

If only Max Twain, our resident ultra social liberal and expert on dinosaurs had been allowed to vote all 1000 times here, we would have surely had these results instead:

    •Sara 0%
    •Newt 0%
    •Mitt 0%
    •Mike 100% :(

  124. Craig Says:

But alas, Loony Max is stuck with the fringe minority of 13%.

    And that’s where he’ll stay. ;)

  125. Craig Says:

    Oh Max,

Who’s your candidate again? Still afraid to commit to one while Huck is around? C’mon, give us your favorite up to now – if you had to vote Republican.

  126. Craig Says:

Is it the architect of RomneyCare/ObamaCare’s huge government mandates, subsidies, and exchanges?

    Or is it Rudy Giuliani?

Fred Karger wants to know. ;)

  127. Craig Says:

    Max,

The problem for you is we just don’t have many social libs like you in our Party. But the Dems have about a bazillion just like you.

    But you already knew that.

  128. Max Twain Says:

My positions on social issues are identical with Sen. Barry Goldwater’s. Of course, Huck falls far short of the great senator’s conservative credentials. He continues to be an embarrassment to our party, our movement, and our country. It will be fitting that when conservatives gather at CPAC, fat liberal Mike Huckabee won’t have the guts to show his multi-chinned face.

Fortunately, Huck won’t be able to damage the country the way he damaged 4 families in Washington state beyond repair.

  129. Craig Says:

It’s now about 7:30 here in Newport Beach, California which makes it 10:30 and past Max’s bedtime in New Jersey.

Sleep well, Max. And dream of large dinosaurs. :)

  130. Craig Says:

    Or large Huckabees ;)

  131. Craig Says:

    Max Twain Says:
    January 26th, 2011 at 8:50 pm
    “Barry Goldwater”

    ===

The guy who lost by one of the largest landslides in history, bringing down many Republican candidates as well.

No way we’re choosing that type in 2012.

  132. Max Twain Says:

Yeah, it’s not like JFK was assassinated or anything, I’m sure that had zero impact on the 1964 election. Brilliant Craig!

Goldwater is credited by all real conservatives as paving the way for Reagan. Huckabee is credited as paving the way for Krispy Kremes to be sold at gas stations.
