Wow, way to go Mike Huckabee!!
December 27th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
Well, certainly didn’t expect that. I guess the “Florida is Mitt’s Southern Stronghold” meme is dead. He’s lost significant ground everytime the poll has been taken.
This also shows that Romney and his forces need it to be a two-man race. The more people added to the mix, the worse Romney’s numbers are. Some of his voters are just softer than that of, say Huckabee.
Also glad to see that My Man Mitch has gone from 1% to 2%. He’s got the mo now
.
December 27th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Congrats to Mike–good showing in FL. His support seems to be broadening.
December 27th, 2010 at 12:13 pm
It seems that Ron Paul was included for the first time. I wonder where his 8% came from.
December 27th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
For some reason it says my comment is “awaiting moderation” (whatever that means), so I’ll just repost:

from PPP: http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2010/12/romney-sinks-in-florida.html
Romney sinks in Florida
Now Romney’s lead in Florida is completely gone. The poll we did last week found him at only 21%, behind Huckabee’s 23%, with Gingrich at 18%, Palin at 13%, and others combining for a total of 15%.
Romney’s chances at the Republican nomination really might be contingent on a small pool of candidates running- the more ‘reasonable’ folks there are in the mix the worse Romney does because he doesn’t have a real solid base of support.
December 27th, 2010 at 12:46 pm
I suspected that Romney’s numbers might be slipping in the GOP race when PPP posted their blog last week which said, “These numbers make it clear how severe Romney’s problems with conservatives are- there just aren’t that many moderate to liberal GOP voters left to prop him back up. There’s been a thought that a centrist could win the nomination in 2012 if the conservatives cannibalize each other but I don’t think moderates have a big enough piece of the pie to get someone nominated even if there are a glut of conservative candidates. The ideological composition of the GOP at this point is such that it’s probably just flat impossible for someone perceived as a moderate to be their nominee.”
From “GOP Electorate Trending Conservative”

It will be interesting to see the results in the GOP races in the other states they released the data for the head to head races last week.

We should be getting the newest North Carolina ’12 primary numbers pretty soon.

December 27th, 2010 at 1:05 pm
NC results have been posted. Newt and Sarah tied at first with 21% and Mike and Mitt tied at 2nd with 18%. What was shocking is that Newt and Sarah did the best among the 2% that described themselves as “liberal”??? (as well as among the 71% that described themselves as “conservative”). Romney did best (30%) among the 27% that described themselves as moderate.

December 27th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
“Ron Paul and/or Gary Johnson need to be polled. One or both are definitely in.” That might be so, but while their suport overlaps, they each have a slightly different base. 52% for Mr. Romney never passed the smell test especially when there were conflicting polls at the time so while Mrs. Romney is losing support in FL, it is not is bad as these numbers suggest. Finally, the fact that Mr. Huckabee leads the somewhat swing state of Florida suggests that he might be the new front runner for now, but I still think less than 100 delegates separate the top three.
December 27th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
Granny,
You can completely disregard that statistically irrelevant data as the sample of liberal Republicans was literally just eight people.
December 27th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
Congrats to Newt and Sarah who now lead in NC, albeit in a four way tie for first when you allow for the 4.9 MOE.
So congrats to all four!:)
December 27th, 2010 at 2:01 pm
By the time Florida comes around, Newt will be gone and Romney will take the state.
Does anyone else feel that these PPP are manipulated to take down who ever is in the lead? Or who ever does best against Obama?

No.

Huck does best (or within the margin of error) versus Obama AND finishes first (or within the margin of error of first) in almost every recent 2012 primary/caucus head to head PPP poll. See my #12 post.

You know, I always felt confident that Huck was using his best selling books (newest policy book due 3/1/11) plus his #1 FOX NEWS television and thrice daily ABC radio shows were an obvious springboard (as a la Reagan) to the nomination. And still do. I put it at 95% that he runs. Same odds as Pawlenty, Newt, Johnson, and Mitt.
But there is a huge possibility now that Palin recognizes the sobering fact that Obama would clobber her easily if she garnered our nomination. That would kill her “mama grizzly brand” and reputation among the Tea Partiers (Seen Christine O’Donnell & Sharron Angle lately??). So I say her chance of running are now at 33 1/3% or even less. This would help Huck in Iowa, Florida & SC the most.
December 27th, 2010 at 8:16 pm
Craig,
You should have listened today to M. Medved,
a moderate RINO,Huckabee’s fan.
He would love to see Huck run,but he’s convinced
that he will not run, based on several reasons,
among others his one hour long interview.
I hope he runs,he will add to the debates, and above
all it will be great pleasure to see Sarahcuda
trounce his rather ample derriere all over Iowa.
December 27th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
Craig,
The chart you present 10 times a day is misleading,
cherry picked for Huck to be in best light.
You show 19 polls since 11/9,there are 29 actually.
In those 10 missing Sarah Palin was the winner 5 times,
and 3 times she was 2nd.7+5=12 times the winner and
9 times # 2.
Sarahcuda is beating Huck,comfortably.
I don’t want to waste my time making the chart,or
just taking it from Huck Army Forum, nobody cares, except
tow of us.
December 27th, 2010 at 8:57 pm
If you throw out the first poll as an outlier (plus didn’t include Gingrich) we have:
Romney averaging 26.67
Palin averaging 19.33
Newt averaging 18.67
Huck averaging 17.67
There may be small changes have occurred in this short period of time, but i think this is much closer to reality in Florida than today’s poll. It’s pretty much of an outlier, especially since the NC poll showed exactly the opposite movement of the same magnitude.
December 27th, 2010 at 9:07 pm
That’s right TEX, craig picks and chooses to Hucks advantage all the time. You would never know it, but if you take the most recent poll of the 27 states that PPP has polled since they began including Gingrich, Mitt has the highest average in OVERALL, 30-45 yr olds, 45-65 yr olds, 65+, CONSERVATIVES, and MEN.
Sarah leads with 18-29 year olds, and Huckabee leads with Women. Mitt was second in both of those categories. lol.
You would never know it by looking at craig cut and pastes he has put on literally over 50 posts. To listen to some of these guys, you would think Mitt died a few weeks ago or something. (23) of the 27 states I listed have taken place since late October, so none of this is old data.
December 27th, 2010 at 9:17 pm
We’ll see what happens to Huckabee after the fact checkers and critics get done with “policy” book and reprint those annoying past positions Hucky is now trying to side step.

IG:
Using the averages you calculated from the 3 polls then yes, Romney is ahead. However, if I were in the Romney camp, I’d be concerned about the trend line, because it has been only going in one direction. Each time another candidate or two is added to the list, Romney’s support declines. To me that shows a softness in support. Of course Palin’s numbers are also declining but I digress.

Now you are catching on buddy…
December 27th, 2010 at 10:43 pm
Jonathan…I don’t disagree with your points. What I find interesting is the terminology used to describe the support of the various candidates.
If Romney’s support is “soft”, then would that imply that Mike’s and Sarah’s support is strong/solid? Alternatively, some people refer to Mike’s and Sarah’s supporters in terms that would indicate an inability to rationally consider other candidates. If that is the case, would that mean Romney’s supporters are capable of rational thought and analysis and, therefore, willing to consider other candidates?
It seems that supporters of candidates other than those three simply pick the least positive description. Do you see it differently?
December 27th, 2010 at 10:46 pm
TEX,my friend…
You are counting multiple states TWICE for Palin. Try counting each state’s latest poll only ONCE since the Illinois 9/11 one.
And remember that T-Paw won Minnesota not Sarah as we show at Huck’s Army since we don’t have a column for Tim yet.
Huck is trending nicely. Period.
Romney, teribly!
Sarah, pretty good. (But that’s NOT her problem. BEATING Obama is.)

1. Romney is the regional candidate
2. Romney only.
December 27th, 2010 at 10:57 pm
Hamaca:
I would say that the phrase “soft Romney supporters” refers to those who are anti-Huckabee, anti-Gingrich, and anti-Palin and see Romney as the only one to stop them. But, if an alternative, like Thune, Pawlenty and/or Daniels starts to catch fire, these “soft Romney supporters” would consider jumping ship.
I don’t think that the Huckabee and Palin supporters are so much irrational, but they really just don’t have a lot of alternatives. Mike Pence is most likely going to run for Governor of Indiana, Santorum is a joke and Bachmann isn’t going to run. There really isn’t someone from that wing of the party. Thus, Huckabee and Palin might feed off of each other but unless someone from the so-con/Tea Party wing comes up as a legitimate alternative, the Palinistas and Huck’s Army really don’t have anywhere to go.
December 27th, 2010 at 11:26 pm
So giving Palin credit for today’s tie for 1st with Newt in NC (although Mitt and Mike are within the MOE of 1st as well).
SINCE 9/11 Illinois: (counting each of the latest state’s poll once only and disregarding the MOE for now — although doing that is kinda silly but it is what Tex wants.)
PPP “1st’s”…
Huck } 7 (AK, KY, Tie in Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Illinois) ALSO 15 of 19: EITHER IN 1ST or WITHIN MOE of 1st.
Palin } 8 (NC, WV, WA, WI, Maine, Texas, Ohio, and Montana) ALSO 13 of 19 within MOE in 1st.
Mitt } 4 (NH, NV, MA, Tie in Michigan with Huck))
Newt } 1 (Tie in NC today)
T-Paw } 1 (Minnesota)

It is what it is.

Sarah endured the continuous onslaught to this day.
Huckabee,Romney,T-Paw,Thune,Mitch???NONE!

ring.

Besides, I’m here to find the strongest candidate to defeat Obama.
In the past year, it’s becoming quite obvious that it isn’t Reality TV’s Palin or the RomneyCareguy.
It’s Huck, T-Paw, Daniels, or believe it or not, Gingrich.
IN THAT ORDER.
December 28th, 2010 at 2:01 am
Craig-Iowa…
I thought it was Palin that did the walk on water thing.
Romney is a “make gravey out of anything guy,” you know, like being able to get water out of a rock or part the Red Sea when it’s in your way…
December 28th, 2010 at 2:25 am
Craig,
There were 29 polls.
If you count each state once,it makes
23 states not 19 like you cherry picked.
Sarahcuda beats Huckster again,any way
you count.
And Huckster enjoys LSM free zone:
No attacks,not even criticism.
But this is all waste of time.Huckster
will not run.
He said it:”She might run away with it.”

TEX,
Since Illinois 9/11 is listed, there are 19 states total that are MORE RECENT plus NV & MA (which I listed in my post #42 – both for Romney)

Like I said, Palin is doing pretty good in this category, but I thought you said that you didn’t like the PPP polls until next March? Make up your mind. Or is it just the national PPP favorability polls that you dislike? Or the PPP Obama versus Palin head to head dismal polling?
Hey, she’s got one out of the three categories! Woo-hoo!
Btw, I left you a few posts at C4Palin.com.

Then you shouldn’t worry when he constructively criticizes Daniels, Palin and Romney when they mess up.
December 28th, 2010 at 3:18 am
ROFLAO…The Huckster? Constructive criticism?
Brwahahahahaha…
Hucky only gives out his “criticism” when he wants to stab somebody in the back while pretending to be patting them.
When somebody complains about the wound, the Huckster tries to replace his sly smile with an innocent look and says, “I was just telling them they are doing a good job,” all the while rubbing more salt in the wound.
If somebody calls him out for that, he just shrugs and says, “Who, me? Whadda I do?”
The guy patented crocodile tears before God made the crocs…

Man,you’re as slick as Huckster.
Why are you using N Carolina poll from 11/30?
There was one today and Sarahcuda WON!
That’s the latest poll, that’s the one that counts.
Your charts are misleading and phony.PERIOD!
December 28th, 2010 at 5:07 am
TEX, IG, You don’t have any room to critize Craig. IG is on record saying that Mitt was right to lie to, well, everyone one what his abortion record is. TEX is so far gone in his worship of Palin that is sickening.
Perhaps you should look at yourselves before you start bashing Craig for his…enthusiastic support of Huck.
December 28th, 2010 at 5:08 am
Tex, in your case, I hope that you would have the hard data to back your claims.
…
…
Who am I kidding ?
December 28th, 2010 at 5:23 am
Stephen Hall…
Speaking of backing up claims, when did Romney ever lie about his “abortion record”?
Don’t give me the Huckanut fantasy version, you need to present the “hard data”…
December 28th, 2010 at 7:45 am
Perhaps you weren’t there when MWS and IG were having a debate on the merits of Romney’s pro-abortion stance. Anyway, MWS got IG to admit that since Romney either is pro-abortion now and lying about it to the voters, or that he lied about being pro-abortion back then and was pandering to the voters in Mass.
IG’s credibility is shot along with anthing else he has to say. Every word out of his mouth, I continue to remember the exchange between him and MWS, and can’t take him seriously.
Now as for you, I believe you twisted my words a little bit. I never said Mitt lied about his record, though I believe he is deceitfull in his supposed “conversion” to pro-life. I said that IG committed the indefensible in his defense of Romney, and thus is on the same level as the Palin-worshippers who believe that every word out of her mouth is the Word of God. The only difference between IG and the aformentioned group is that his god is Mitt Romney.
Gerald, your credibility is somewhat lacking as well. Perhaps when you say I said something, you will not twist my words.
I won’t hold my breath.
December 28th, 2010 at 8:50 am
You are the one twisting words. I never said Romney lied. I said that he promised he would not allow the abortion to move in either direction while he was governor, and that in doing so, he knew that he could govern 100% pro life and carry out that promise. I said that some people may have been deceived by that, but that he told the truth, yet was able to govern 100% pro life. Some of you then twisted those words into what you stated above. If I worded something incorrectly, then that’s on me, but I didn’t say or intend to say that Mitt had LIED. I did say that he deceived them by telling the truth.
December 28th, 2010 at 10:28 am
“I did say that he deceived them by telling the truth.”
In other words he intentionally suckered his backers, huh ? I could go with that. Who to trust, someone who disagrees with you but sticks to his beliefs, or someone who backstabs you for political gain like you implicated Romney into doing.
“I said that he promised he would not allow the abortion to move in either direction while he was governor…”
Funny, I’m listening to his speech from 2002, and here is his exact quote;
“I will protect and preserve a woman’s right to choose.”
Seems to me that he opted to move abortion in favor of the pro-choice crowd, and his actions during his tenure as governor backs up what he said during the debate. You cannot sit there ad tell me otherwise, since it is there in black and white. So your insinuation that Mitt had to decieve the voters is either a very accurate description of a snake-oil salesman, or you are just being disengenious.
Actually, I’ll call you an outright liar.

Stephen Hall–your inflammatory rhetoric says more about you than it does about any of your targets. Is that how they teach you to write at the college you’re attending? Or is it something you’ve inherited?
December 28th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
Unfortunately when your opponents are beyond reason at the moment, stark humiliation and the breaking of the spirit is all that is left to do.
In any which case, I have no mercy for them. After all, they were ganging up on Craig, condemning him for the same tactics they themselves are guilty of. If there is one thing I hate above all else its hypocrisy.
If they wanna dish out some inflammatory rhetoric back at me, I welcome it. After all, I love a good fight.
December 28th, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Besides, inflammatory rhetoric is the only thing TEX’s primitive brain is capable of understanding. IG is just, well, I’ll save that for later. Point is they have not shown any respect towards Craig, or any other Huck supporter.
Why should I show any back ?
December 28th, 2010 at 2:01 pm
Now CNN has put out a crazy poll that says Huck is first.
Doesn’t everyone know that Palin is #1? Or Romney?
Apparently Palinites and Rombots alike have failed in their missions to convince the voters. Gotta try harder, folks.
! Because what you’re doing is not working. Period.
Huck/Kasich 2012 ..to beat Obama/Biden
December 28th, 2010 at 2:18 pm
Yeah! Stephen’s back to counter the Hamacas, Dougs, and Iggys of the Rombot’s bizzaro world.
I’ll handle TEX because he has given me his word that he’s supporting the Iowa winner, as so will I.
! I think some of the hardcore Rombots like Max and a very few others are lost causes, and will hope for an Obama victory when Huck is our nominee. Hey, but it’s only a small handful of Bots. No big deal.

Craigabee,
Do you get paid to post at these sites? About half of all comments on any given thread at ROS or here are yours. Makes one wonder if this your real job.

most of your posts are not read by anybody.
You throw cherry picked numbers again,

Craig,nobody cares,especially national polls

for ultra liberal Daily Kooks, again two
years before the election.
Ask Presidents Guiliani and Hillary.

Awh, heck, just allow Craig-Iowa his little happy dance right now.
He probably wont’ be getting too many after the campaign really starts and Hucky is off his show and in the furnance of competition.
I’m really looking forward to seeing Sarahcude tear into his flesh in Iowa.
I hope she gets in and goes after him…

I wonder if anyone notices that PPP simultaneously to tis poll did a poll in FL of head to head with Obama, and favorability, and Romney in that poll did better than Huckabee, and the margin of error was lower because they polled over 1,000 as opposed to 400 in this poll.
why would the same firm over exactly the same days conduct such similar polls, and come up with quite different results? I’m slightly baffled, but not disheveled.
