Sen. John McCain has received many big endorsements for his reelection bid from prominent Republicans such as Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Scott Brown, Bob McDonnell, and Tim Pawlenty. Today, though, former Congressman J.D. Hayworth got a big endorsement of his own:
One the leaders of the so-called “birthers” is stepping up to defend former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.) from Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
Olry Taitz – a California dentist and lawyer who has filed lawsuits alleging that Barack Obama is not a citizen and therefore ineligible to be president – is taking offense at an ad McCain’s campaign released Wednesday linking Hayworth with her.
———
In January on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” he urged Obama to “come forward with the information” and last week he told CNN’s “Campbell Brown” that he would like to see candidates across the country compelled to present their birth certificates so “people can confirm who they said they are.”
Hayworth’s statements have clearly endeared him to Taitz, who urged her supporters to “help” the former Congressman and radio host in two posts on her site.
Clearly, Rep. Hayworth is showing he can bring out the big guns in conservative circles by attracting such an impressive endorsement. Hayworth is truly someone Sen. Barry Goldwater would want holding the seat he occupied for many years as a champion of true conservatism. Sen. John McCain has never been able to attract the crazy Moldavian dentist/lawyer constituents, so naturally he needs to go. Bravo J.D., bravo!
To contribute to the candidate who lives in a little place I like to call reality, go here.

I’ll show you John McCain! I’ll endorse your opponent and increase your already crushing margin of victory over him!
February 25th, 2010 at 5:23 pm
I’m not a Hayworth supporter or a birther, but I wouldn’t be so sure Barry Goldwater Sr. wouldn’t be sympathetic to the birther movement. Sen. Goldwater did, after all, believe that the government was hiding proof of extraterrestrial and UFO visits.

I don’t care if Hayworth believe in aliens and bigboot.
I still don’t want John McCain to win.

#1 question to ask John McCain at the debates: If you lose the nomination, will you support Hayworth?
February 25th, 2010 at 5:31 pm
One thing for Charlie Crist to note, is how McCain has stamped his opponent early, and defined him before he can start a crusading movement. Crist should have done the same with Rubio, rather than letting him build traction.
The flip side of that comment I suppose is that McCain learnt from Crist’s predicament, and was hard out of the blocks.

Oh, now I feel better. Because for a couple of weeks, McCain was getting all the endorsements. It makes me feel better to see that JD is holding his own.
February 25th, 2010 at 5:33 pm
I’m not so sure JD doesn’t get BG Sr.’s endorsement tomorrow.

Breaking News: Ambulance called for JD Hayworth today. EMT’s found a faint pulse.

Twine, you’re being facetious, right?
February 25th, 2010 at 5:56 pm
This will be a big test for the birthers, as well as a golden opportunity to promote their cult. Let’s see how many there are. By the way, Max, you might want to ease up on the sarcasm a little next time. I doubt if anybody could have thought you were being sincere.

With friends like these…
February 25th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
This is hilarious. Isn’t Hayworth smart enough to tell her “Please, please don’t endorse me!”?
Answer: No, he’s really that stupid.

Arpaio Blasts McCain’s “Liberal” Policies –

Sami Al-Arian roils Calif. Senate race
Republican Senate hopeful Tom Campbell, a former congressman, has come under sustained attack on conservative websites and from his rivals in recent days for taking a campaign donation from Al-Arian in 2000, for backing legislation Al-Arian was lobbying for at the time and for allegedly being a less-than-steadfast supporter of Israel.

McCain has even nuttier guy backing him.
This guy who backs McCain was in Michigan in 2000 screaming like a maniac that his opponent was Darth Vader, he was Luke Skywallker flying towards the Death Star. And he screamed in the high school auditorium, “But we’re going to get him. We’re going to kill him all.”
Yeah, I got word that John McCain will be supporting John McCain.

Beyond #18:
This is pretty cheap. Hayworth didn’t ask for their help and he doesn’t endorse their comments. Anyone who thinks J.D. Hayworth is a birther is being intellectually dishonest or deceiving themselves for the “cause.”
February 25th, 2010 at 8:26 pm
Way old news, even more than that it happened 2 weeks ago. Those two are blood enemies. Whatever McCain does, Arpaio does the opposite. There was a time when he was a good sheriff. But a couple years agoe, he and Andrew Thomas, the county attorney, went on the warpath against the county council. They have made a complete mess of things here. He’s also made a joke of immigration enforcement because he doesn’t know where the line is.
So, this is no news. It will have about the same impact as Taitz.

Still (#20): Do you read EspressoPundit? I think it’s the best blog for AZ political insight. The blogger, Greg Patterson, is anti-McCain, but very fair. He’s hinted that Thomas and Arpaio may be indicted for some of their antics against the Maricopa supes.
Thomas’s case against Willcox got thrown out the other day, with the judge making comments about Arpaio’s “abuse of office.”

Liberal judge.
February 25th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll take a look.
Arpaio is under DOJ investigation for civil rights violations. I think it is mostly a DEM witch hunt, but Arpaio thinks he is so above the law, that who knows what he has done. (I hate people who think they are a law unto themselves.)
Because the Maricopa Board of Supervisors have tried to cut his budget as part of dealing with the second worst recession in the country, Arpaio, teamed up with County Attorney Thomas, have brought indictments on more than 200 charges against members of the BOS. Yesterday they were all dropped.
Thomas is getting set to run for AG. He started out as the darling of the religious right CAP and it’s all gone to his head.
Both of them have long since quit being servants of the people.

“Both of them have long since quit being servants of the people.”
I used to be something of a fan of Sheriff Joe, but in the past few years he has really gotten a bit nutty. That bit about sending a deputy into court to literally steal papers off an attorney’s desk — wow!
