Utah senatorial candidate Mike Lee is making the rounds here in the CPAC bloggers lounge after being introduced to us by Erick Erickson. Had the chance to talk to him and I like this guy a LOT. Really passionate about the Constitution and limited government. Wants legislation to limit government spending to 20% of GDP (great idea!).
Sen. Bob Bennett is definitely going to have a hard time holding this guy off in a primary. Worth noting that Lee has the endorsement of State Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, who had been the main challenger to Bennett before dropping out in November.

Good luck Mike Lee. Bob Bennett has been endorsed by Mitt Romney. So it won’t be easy. Palin endorsed McCain so it will be interesting to see what happens to those whom Palin and Romney endorse.

Mike Lee is an incredible candidate. I checked out all those running for Senate here in Utah very thoroughly, including Bob Bennett, and can clearly say that we NEED Mike Lee.
Most I talk to here in Utah really feel that Bob Bennett has lost touch with his constituents. He hasn’t even bothered to show up to 2 of 3 Senate Candidate panel discussions, even when he was in town the same day. He really doesn’t seem to care. He must think his name recognition and money can pull him through, because he gets destroyed on issues.
Mike Lee will be Utah’s next Senator.

It is interesting that Erickson is so in to Mike Lee. Mike will not win that race and is not gaining momentum. He touts himself as being an expert on the constitution, yet he’s proposing 4 constitutional amendmets and creating more government programs. Don’t jump on board that sinking ship too fast.

if Utah is stupid enough to go with this guy over Bennett then they deserve what they get. only in utah would a Bennett be considered too liberal.

I Like Mike!, and its really good to know that he’s getting national exposure already. People recognize him for who he is, and quickly respond positively to him. He has all the tools, all the experience, and he’s really smart when it comes to governing by The Constiitution, something that’s missing in our government. Mike Lee for me.
