Good for Sarah!

Heard on Sarah Palin Radio last night hosted by La Donna Hale Curzon :

LA DONNA HALE CURZON: Glenn Beck said last week on his radio program that he thought it was Mitt Romney’s turn to be the next Republican nominee for President. What’s your thoughts on that?

PALIN: Well, I don’t think it’s anybody’s turn ever.

We’ve got to really, really work hard to build up that trust in the people for the people to elect you in a primary and general.

But Romney’s a great guy. Glenn Beck’s a really great guy, and I appreciate the diverse views and opinions that these fellows are going to be sharing with the rest of America through these next few years before a candidate does rise to the top of the GOP.

Good for Sarah. I fully agree about it not being anybody’s turn and her bit about Romney being a great guy. Her gracious, mature comment concerning Mitt and her dead-on comment about us needing all views and opinions in the next few few years puts the lie to her critics’ caricatures of her.

(Of course, I have to wonder if she has been on C4P recently where they are not nearly so gracious towards Mitt. ;-) )

    ;)

  2. MPC Says:

I still like Romney in spite of the Rombots’ best efforts, though :P

I definitely agree as to the notes Palin is sounding here though. She’s absolutely right, as far as next in line goes, and as far as to whom our party is ultimately responsible. And she’s being gracious at the same time. The media gig may be just what she needs to refine and sharpen her image and message.

  3. Alex Knepper Says:

What did you expect her to say? “No! It’s my turn!” — or “Yeah, it’s definitely Mitt’s turn.”

  4. OHIO JOE Says:

“(Of course, I have to wonder if she has been on C4P recently where they are not nearly so gracious towards Mitt.” Haha, I wonder if Mr. Romney has visited this site among others. On a slightly more serious note, as a Palinite, I have no problem with my camp leader stating that Mr. Romney is a ‘great guy.’ After all, there are millions of great guys in this country who should not be President.

  5. Sarah & Mike: Fox Superstars Says:

    4. Right on, Ohio Joe. 8 )

    beats…

“I don’t think Romney has a soul” – Pastor in chief Huckabee

  8. Jonathan Says:

I know Beck and Sarah are buddy-buddies, but if I were her I’d stay far away from him. Same goes for Romney and all the other contenders for the nomination. Beck has simply gone off the deep-end. Attacking Scott Brown over kdding around with his daughters? Really? Not to mention the interview with Palin was just plain creepy.

Memo to all 2012 contenders; stay away from Glenn Beck.

  9. Sarah & Mike: Fox Superstars Says:

  11. jerseyrepublican Says:

I think Bob Beckel is going to have heart attack tonight having to do the analyses of the SOTU address with Palin

  12. AKReport Says:

Beck does his thing… Just wait till he starts talking about the fema camps again. lol.

  13. AKReport Says:

just wait till Palin’s Tea Party Speech. ( could be her best since the RNC speech)

  14. jerseyrepublican Says:

Half of Beck’s show is satire. He’s passionate but you can only take half of what he says seriously. He also has a huge audience and any contender would be stupid to stay away from Beck.

  15. jerseyrepublican Says:

When is the Tea Party convention?

  16. OHIO JOE Says:

“Half of Beck’s show is satire.” True, as they say, the liberals have no sense of humor.

  17. Jonathan Says:

    #14:

That’s the problem. The half he wants you to take seriously is satire in and of itself. Also, American Idol has a huge audience, that doesn’t mean it would be wise for a contender for President to go on there and try out.

  18. WSU Says:

Trying to figure out if this speech means she is leaning towards running (WE’VE got to…/”not his turn”), or not running (“a great guy”)

  19. Glo Says:

Scott Brown has replaced Sarah Palin as the star of the Republican Party. and he is the real stuff. He has more
gravitas than either Romney or Palin. He deserves a very very close look !

  20. Bob Hovic Says:

“Half of Beck’s show is satire.”

If only we knew which half.

  21. hamaca Says:

I’m not aware of any candidate thinking that it’s “their turn” for the nomination or that it even works that way–to suggest otherwise would be disingenuous.

My sense is that when something like that is mentioned by pundits, it’s more from the perspective of a candidate paying their dues somehow and the party possibly taking that into consideration when deciding whom to put forward and whom to vote for (among other factors).

I would say that Huck, Mitt, and Sarah have all given a lot for the Party and that supporters could feel that that warrants additional backing, i.e. they are deserving of it.

  22. Bob Hovic Says:

“Scott Brown … is the real stuff.”

You base that statement on what? He has potential, but let’s wait for him to actually do something before we canonize him.

  23. MWS Says:

    Glo,

Get back to me in 6-8 years. The guy hasn’t even been seated yet. Maybe he is the next Caesar. I don’t know. But being a part of an impotent minority in a state legislature and driving around in a pickup hardly proves one’s mettle. I don’t mean disrespect, I’m just saying he needs several years before he’s worth a “close look” on the national stage.

The Democrats showed us what you get when you hire someone strictly because he’s a great campaigner….

  24. Flip Dixon Says:

Yeah, but “it’s my turn” is the whole rationale behind Romney 2012.

If people reject that, he’s finished.

  25. Falz Says:

Sarah is right. She’s got to work very, very hard to get to the first debate and survive.

  26. Ci2Eye Says:

It probabaly isn’t anyone’s “turn” but of all the folks wanting to be picked to carry the banner for the Party in ’12, Romney is by far the smartest, and most well equipped to be a great President.

  27. JA Pruce Says:

In order for Mitt to succeed in 2012 and be seen as the establishment front runner, he has to convince the Party and the Primary voters that this is his last shot and it is “his turn” – much like Dole did in 96. With other up and comers rising up such as Governor Palin, Scott Brown, Bob McDonnell, Chairman Steele, Marco Rubio and Liz Cheney, Mitt has to be looking over his shoulder.

  28. AKReport Says:

being the front runner this early is not a good thing imo.

  29. hamaca Says:

    28. agreed.

Yeah, what the heck did Glenn mean by that?? There he goes, just spouting out what is hear say again! I think Romney will be the nominee, but not on that dumb basis. Sarah answered the question right on.

  31. The Competent Conservative Says:

    #7 Amen!

  32. The Competent Conservative Says:

Beck did a lot of drugs in his past and those things tend to tweek the minds a little bit. However, now a days it is a qualification for President.

  33. Thunder Says:

    # Flip Dixon Says:

Yeah, but “it’s my turn” is the whole rationale behind Romney 2012.

If people reject that, he’s finished.

Your such a liberal, you wouldn’t know a conservative when you see one.

No Republican politician is going to admit that their is a next in line. Its not something written on Stone tablets, its a phenomenon that seems to occur in the Republican nomination process (not that it can’t be broken).

One thing for sure, neither Palin or Huckabee are next in line or really suitable as the nominee. Short of anyone else, only Romney has the stature and organization at this point to claim the nomination.

  34. The Competent Conservative Says:

    #24

Race hasn’t wise up and banned you yet?

  35. Thunder Says:

    # Jonathan Says:
Memo to all 2012 contenders; stay away from Glenn Beck.

amen to that. One has to remember, Beck is an entertainer more than a political pundit. Can’t stand him, although I often agree with him.

  36. zeek Says:

24# has never offered an arguement to debate. It is more like a kid who constantly writes one liners about you or your sister on the bathroom wall. He doesnt want to engage in honest debate only engorge on reading his own limited comments of intellectual cowardice. He never offers much variety just a whole lot of annoying, worthless, distraction. Honest objective people usually dont respond they just patronize a better location. Which is a shame because I like this site, even those who disagree with me.

  37. Flip Dixon Says:

I’ve offered plenty of arguments against Romney, most of which the Rom-bots simply fail to acknowledge.

  38. Ron Says:

    Mitt Romney/John Thune 2012!

  39. amy Says:

Mike Huckabee is the frontrunner but I support Mitt Romney.

  40. Luke Says:

It’s not his turn…. but he is the most qualified!

  41. AH Says:

I think John Edwards and Rod Blagojevich should run for president and VP!

  42. mcon Says:

    35,

Several Rombots banned who were nowhere near as crazy as flip. Doesn’t matter what the news is it will have something to do with mitt for him.

  43. scesc Says:

I do not think Romney is electable. He is like Dewey–To sophisticated and to much big business for the rabble and to good looking so the”people” don’t trust him. Palin has proven what she is and is much smarter than the pundits think.

  44. Lori Says:

I would really hate to think I got nominated because it was my turn and not because I was the most capable leader to represent the party. I imagine Romney feels the same way.

But the fact is, Romney is the most capable leader and that is why he should be the Republican nominee. He is Mr. Fixit. He is morally grounded and smart as a whip. He has prepared himself for this job and I believe like Sarah, its nobody’s turn, but is for the party to decide who the best, brightest, most capable person for the job. No brainer–Romney.

  45. Lori Says:

to scesc 43. What in the world does trust have to do with being good looking!!!??? Silly. Isn’t Sarah as good looking at Mitt? Really, think before you post your indefensible reasoning.
