From the Palm Beach Post;
“In 1986 Ronald Reagan granted amnesty to 3 million people,” Rubio said. “You know what happened, in addition to becoming 11 million a decade later? There were people trying to enter the country legally, who had done the paperwork, who were here legally, who were going through the process, who claimed, all of a sudden, ‘No, no no no , I’m illegal.’ Because it was easier to do the amnesty program than it was to do the legal process.”

While criticizing amnesty for those illegals, he also rejected the idea of a massive “police-state” roundup. He suggested requiring tamper-proof residency and guest-worker cards and fining employers who don’t verify that their workers are legal. That, Rubio said, would bring the 11 million figure down “dramatically by attrition.”
Asked later about about Reagan’s support for amnesty, Rubio said, “I think he did it for the right reasons, but I think it ended up working the wrong way.”
Rubio’s no-amnesty stance on illegal immigrants has drawn some criticism from immigration hard-liners who say Rubio didn’t advance the issue when he was House speaker and the collapse of federal immigration reform efforts led state legislators around the U.S. to propose a variety of state-level immigration measures.

Thanks for the link Tommy Boy, I am a little surprised that Mrs. Fiorina would say such a stupid thing. I guess some people learn and some do not.

I’m against employment verification and national I.D. cards, but I’m also strongly against amnesty and a path to citizenship.
I still dislike Rubio.

Okay anti-Romney crowd…….Here’s a case where Reagan got it wrong. I campaigned for Reagan and I’m still really glad he was President when he was, but the guy was not perfect.
So is Rubio now “anti-Reagan” and is “rejecting” Reagan?
That’s what you would be saying of Romney had made this statement. You would probably even be taking Rubio’s comments out of context to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
And I like the title, “Rubio Moves to the Right on Illegal Immigration.”
“Moves to the right”???
Come on folks, you’re forgetting the proper terminology.
The correct and proper title should be “Rubio Flip-flops on Illegal Immigration.”
Also, any day now there should be a crew of undercover newspaper reporters stealthily stalking Rubio for at least 6 months to see if he ever unknowingly receives services from illegal aliens so that we can all call him a hypocrite.
How dare that Rubio guy come to agree with us more!!! I’m outraged!!! I don’t trust him!!! He obviously has no core principles!!! In deed, a man at his age changing his positions!!!

Charlie Crist is another Larry Craig scandal waiting to happen. Everyone avoids this very serious issue about Crist, as if ignoring it now will matter when the MSM finally decides to go after it once he is in Washington. The rumors are so numerous, and far reaching, and obtained not by faceless bloggers but by legit journalists, that Crist is a mounting danger to the entire party. Another Republican in the closet who takes public stands against gay rights will just cloud the agenda for our party, and give the DNC a welcome distraction that will consume the media, allowing them to ignore the failing democrat economy.
Rubio is not perfect, but he is a far better candidate and better bet to add constructively to the party rather then take down the party with lies about his personal life.
So Kristofer, if you are going to keep defending Crist, can you please tell us if you believe the statements he has made about his private life? Do you think he is being 100%? Do you think stories like this { http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/2008-02-28/news/the-talk-of-the-green-iguana/ } are fake? I don’t. I think the truth about Crist will come out, and it will be very damaging to all of us.
Understand, if he was openly gay and not voting against gay rights I would have no problem with ‘Good Time’ Charlie on this issue, but the hypocrisy will ruin us.
