Saw this on the Political Wire:
A new Zogby poll in North Dakota finds Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) would be crushed if challenged by Gov. John Hoeven (R), 55% to 36% with 9% undecided.
Dorgan, however, leads another possible challenger, Duane Sand (R), 60% to 28% with 10% undecided.
That North Dakota hasn’t elected a Republican to either the House or Senate in 30 years is a huge incongruity as it’s voted Republican for President in every election since 1964 and has had a Republican Governor for 14 years.
We can complain all we want about Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in Maine, but as long as the Dakotas are sending 3 Democrats to the U.S. Senate and two to the U.S. House, conservatives are going to have a hard-time getting anything done.
Cornyn should be making regular trips to North Dakota to pursuade Hoeven to run. When you’re dealing with Senate seats, it doesn’t matter whether it’s in North Dakota, New York, or Delaware, they’re all worth the same thing, and from a cash perspective North Dakota would be a heck of a lot less expensive to run a successful campaign in.

Amen! I really hope Gov. Hoeven runs. Gary Emineth is the ND GOP chairman; he is really an amazing social and fiscal conservative. I do believe he is the most principled member of the RNC. He has been pushing Gov. Hoeven very hard to run for Dorgan’s senate seat. Pray really hard that Gov. Hoeven runs! He will win!

hoeven in ND, thompson in wisconsin, giuliani in new york, castle in delaware, kirk in illinois, norton in colorado, lowden in nevada, baker in arkansas, simmons in CT, toomey in PA
should all be even money or better to pick up for the GOP

After Nelson, Landrieu, and Lincoln proved their usefulness for Reid today, any RINO-hunting CFG wad need to fall in line or get the crap kicked out of them.

Jane Norton WILL WIN in Colorado. Or I will eat my hat. She is gaining strong support, and is pretty popular. Plus, northern colorado has an evangelical base that will DEFINITELY vote for Norton.

No, John Hoeven is not what this country needs. He is Olympia Snowe part 2. He is a liberal trust me. Byron Dorgan will point out his spending habits and he won’t be lying. Hoeven has given money to Dorgan in the past for crying out loud. No North Dakota needs a conservative in office. The country needs a conservative in office.
Find three things that John Hoeven has ever taken a tough stance on. I can’t even find one. Gary Emineth is a good conservative and I wish he would run for office. John Hoeven is a rhino at best.
North Dakota has a couple of conservatives that would make great Senators. Paul Sorum of Fargo, Duane Sand of Bismarck, or former Gov. Ed Schaffer of Fargo. Any of the three could beat Dorgan because it would be conservative v. liberal versus liberal v. liberal.
For those of you hoping and praying for John Hoeven I would urge that you take a step back. He will spend as much or more than Byron Dorgan. Trust me.
