So Chris Christie had an excellent, funny, human exchange on the Don Imus show about Corzine’s none too subtle attacks on his weight:

This is the first time since this race began that I actually thought Christie was personally compelling in any kind of exchange. Maybe compelling enough to get me off my not so fat butt and make some more calls on Monday.

Most importantly, Christie showed confidence and a good-natured self. It’s the best possible way to swing right into the end of a close race.

Christie and his people believe they will win. Corzine will get 42% and Daggett will not get enough to make up for it. Christie is feeling relaxed. It’s nice to see the man show a “light side”
Christie 45%
Corzine 42%
Daggett 12%
The rest 1%
Congratulations Gov. Christie!

I can “feel” the momentum coming back to Christie. He’s going to win this thing.

“Governor Christopher Christie

GET USED TO IT!”
BINGO, haha maybe Mr. Christie can promise that some Republicans can vote Independent up in NY in exchange for some Daggettites to vote GOP in NJ.

Mr. Christie is not conservative. Mitt Romney campaigned for him. Romney is another Rino’s just McCain. Mr. Christie didn’t want Sarah Palin there. It is going to be a tight race. It look like New Jersey will have the Democratic win Tuesday night. New Jersey is a blue liberal state.
October 30th, 2009 at 7:01 am
“Mr. Christie is not conservative.” You know, I am starting to think that Kavon (sorry Kavon) hired you you to entertain us all. Yes, perhaps Mr. Christie is not quite as Conservative as we would like, but he is rather Conservative for a New Jersey. Further, while I won’t lose any sleep over Mr. Christie, I am not ready to cheer for his loss yet. At least Mr. Romney had the decency to refrain from endorsing the wrong candidate in NY-23 (unlike Mr. Gingrich,) so I for one won’t hold it against him. I do find it interesting however, that the GOP is having a much easier time in VA than NJ. Yes VA is Redder than NJ, but they are both Purplelish.

Hoffman is in cahoots with the DNC and is acting (as daggett is) as the spoiler.
He’s helping split the party, not unite it. If he wants the job so bad, perhaps he can run in the primary against Dede?
I hope Dede can pull this off, and not split the party.
October 30th, 2009 at 7:14 am
Knickers, I know how badly you favor liberal Republicans, but you are not reading the tea leaves if you think that your Queen Dede can pull it off. Like Daggett, Queen Dede is the spoiler. This is now much more of a two and a half person race than a three person race. Either the Conservatives or the Democrats will win, the GOP has little chance of winning this one. Or as someone else aroud here would say, Dede is not Conservative, she will not be the nominee.
October 30th, 2009 at 7:59 am
OJ, I think you know that Knickers does not favor liberal Republicans. You have not bothered to note her point, which is that Hoffman is splitting the vote.
Hoffman could have very easily waited until the primary next year. As it is, he IS the spoiler. He probably will not win, as it appears that he is as much a dunce as Dede. As we learn more about him, we see that he is a weak candidate. Yes, he is more conservative, but he doesn’t bother to learn about issues in his own district, and he won’t show up to debate because he’s afraid of looking foolish.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:09 am
“You have not bothered to note her point, which is that Hoffman is splitting the vote.” Ah, no, at this point he is not splitting the vote because he is in first place, not 3rd.
“and he won’t show up to debate because he’s afraid of looking foolish.” Ah, no, 3rd place candidates are usually much more enthusiastic about wanting more debates than 1st place candidates. In short, the reason Queen Dede is so desperate for so many debates is that she is losing big time. She wants to make sure she at least gets 10% of the popular vote.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:34 am
11. Well, perhaps Hoffman is in first place, and it remains to be seen whether or not he can win, but when he decided to enter he had to know he might split the vote and hand the seat to the democrats.
I listened to a Beck interview with him, and he’s not the sharpest guy, so I’m not surprised that he doesn’t want to debate. The rap is that he doesn’t know the issues. We’ll see if voters care.
I’m not saying Scozzafava is any better.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:44 am
“I’m not saying Scozzafava is any better.” Haha, well at least you are honest enough to admit it. As for Mr. Hoffman splitting the vote in the first place, Ms. Scozzafava was never going to win in the first place, she was always a loose cannon waiting to explode.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:57 am
13. OJ,
Admit it? Everyone knows she is not a good candidate. Since this whole thing started, you have put forth the notion that Romney supporters like Dede, bBut I haven’t seen any evidence of that. You are pushing the meme very hard these days that the majority of Romney supporters are moderate elitists. It just isn’t true.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:17 am
#14 Martha, OJ (and others) are mistaking the zeal in pushing “Republican First” by some people on this site (and likely others) to be an indication of supporting Scozzafava. I get what you (and others) are saying (and agree, to a degree) that supporting the GOP is the only path we have to implementing Conservatism, and supporting Hoffman hurts the GOP, ergo supporting Hoffman hurts implementing Conservatism. Just realize how someone who doesn’t think “Republican First” might see it, and OJ’s comments will make more sense.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:28 am
“You are pushing the meme very hard these days that the majority of Romney supporters are moderate elitists. It just isn’t true.” I guess I need to clarify; the majority of Romneyite are not moderates or elitist. However, there is a strong wing of his camp that is. There is certainly a wing of the Romney camp that is both Conservative and non elitist and of course there is middle ground in the Romney camp that does not fit nicely into any catagory. Those that are moderate elitilist in the Romney are less than 50% to be sure, but there is still enough of them to cause concern.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:32 am
15. I don’t think Republican First, either Richard. But I do understand that pragmatism is called for at times. This is one of those cases. Honestly, I don’t care who wins the seat because all are flawed in one way or another, and I just don’t think Hoffman is all he’s cracked up to be, or worth a party fight over.
It’s not just this issue. OJ has been pushing some false notions about Romney supporters for the last month or so.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:33 am
16. How do you know? How do you know the % of elitists in Romney’s ‘camp’? LOL
October 30th, 2009 at 9:47 am
“16. How do you know? How do you know the % of elitists in Romney’s ‘camp’? LOL” I have no idea what the exact per centage is, but I think those who run the Romney camp might have an idea. Watch what they do and we might have some clues.
“and I just don’t think Hoffman is all he’s cracked up to be, or worth a party fight over.” Well, you are half right Martha, Mr. Hoffman is actually not all what he is cracked up to be. I suspect that he is actually not quite as Conservative as you and some others in your camp, but for me the issue is bigger than Mr. Hoffman himself. I am fed up with the shenanigans and I for one am drawing the line. And despite what you might think Martha, I do not think that I am the only person in the whole country that feels this way. There are people in my neck of the woods so to speak that feel just as strongly as I.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:55 am
19. Of course you are not the only one who feels that way! I’m fed up too, OJ.
Romney runs the Romney camp, and I do watch him. He has done nothing to give me the idea that he is a moderate. But, I do think he has the ability to attract moderates simply because he can be seen as the consencus candidate.
For me the issues is also bigger than Hoffman. That’s why he should have waited until the primary to run.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:56 am
consenSus. I don’t know why I always spell that wrong . . .
October 30th, 2009 at 10:07 am
” I don’t know why I always spell that wrong . . .” Haha, well, you spell much better than I, thus I guess, I will never get the nominee.
October 30th, 2009 at 10:17 am
OJ, I haven’t heard from Illinoisguy. I hope he is doing okay.
October 30th, 2009 at 10:39 am
If you e-mail him Martha, please give him me best wishes. I do not know if you caught it, but I ran into a relative of a front page poster a few times over the past little while and he said he wishes the best for Illinoisguy as well.
