    Lieberman blasts missile move
    http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0909/Lieberman_blasts_missile_move.html

“This deeply regrettable decision sends the wrong message to Tehran, Moscow, and our European allies at a critical time in our effort to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” Senator Joe Lieberman says in a statement. “Moreover, it means that we will have a less capable missile defense system to protect the United States and our European allies against the Iranian threat. The administration must take immediate and tangible action to reassure our allies in Central and Eastern Europe that we are committed to their security and independence.”

    McCain Statement on Missile Defense
    http://thepage.time.com/mccain-statement-on-missile-defense/

“I am disappointed with the Administration’s decision to cancel plans to develop missile defenses in Eastern Europe. This decision calls into question the security and diplomatic commitments the United States has made to Poland and the Czech Republic, and has the potential to undermine perceived American leadership in Eastern Europe. Given the strong and enduring relationships we have forged with the region’s nations since the end of the Cold War, we should not, I believe, take steps backward in strengthening these ties. Yet I fear the Administration’s decision will do just that, and at a time when Eastern European nations are increasingly wary of renewed Russian adventurism.

“Given the serious and growing threats posed by Iran’s missile and nuclear programs, now is the time when we should look to strengthen our defenses, and those of our allies. Missile defense in Europe has been a key component of this approach. I believe the decision to abandon it unilaterally is seriously misguided.”

National Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/september_2009/48_want_abortion_coverage_banned_in_health_care_plan

Should health insurance paid for or subsidized with government funding be required to cover abortions, be prohibited from covering abortions, or have no requirements concerning abortions?

    Required to cover abortions 13%
Have no requirements concerning abortions 32%
    Prohibited from covering abortions 48%

Among those who currently support passage of the legislation, 22% want a prohibition banning abortion coverage and 22% want a mandate requiring such coverage. Forty-seven percent (47%) of the plan’s supporters prefer the neutral approach, and nine percent (9%) are not sure.

Among those who oppose the plan, 72% favor a prohibition against coverage of abortions while five percent (5%) hold the opposite view.

Sweet…All the “swing states” for Senate are swinging to the GOP…
    1) Republicans are solidfying their “no lose” states of NC, NH, KY, and FL. The only questionable ones are now OH and Missouri.
    2) Further, they have very good chances of picking up NV, CN, CO, and PA. Further, they have at least an outside shot of picking up
    IL and AR.
    3) Finally, with the right candidate (i.e. Hoeven of ND, Castle of DE, Giuliani of NY) we could pick up even more

Net, at minimum, we should pick up 4 seats and we could get up to 10 if we can get all the right candidates in place while Obama continues his downward spiral…
