Corazon Aquino, R.I.P.

And yes, I realize that particular news network is sometimes frowned upon, but they had a god report and they were kind enough to put it on YouTube (only one I could find) – and frankly, it’s more important to put up a memorial than to avoid Al Jazeera.

    I don’t think Al Jazeera is necessarily bad. To be honest, I much prefer them to MSNBC.

    Cory Aquino was an important symbol for her country. Unfortunately, her term as president and her legacy were a disappointment. Nothing really changed — she was, as the report mentioned in passing, from a political family, and her replacing Marcos simply meant that power passed from one sector of the Philippines’ ruling elite to another, where it remains today (the current president is the daughter of Marcos’s predecessor).
