For those who haven’t heard, Vice President Biden had another Joe-being-Joe moment today at a speech to the AARP:
“And folks look, AARP knows and the people with me here today know, the president knows, and I know, that the status quo is simply not acceptable,” Biden said at the event on Thursday in Alexandria, Va. “It’s totally unacceptable. And it’s completely unsustainable. Even if we wanted to keep it the way we have it now. It can’t do it financially.”
“We’re going to go bankrupt as a nation,” Biden said.
“Now, people when I say that look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about, Joe? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, that’s what I’m telling you.”
Hey, look at the bright side: at least that gaffe machine Sarah Palin didn’t get elected VP!
In some news that may unnerve Obama, Pelosi and other Dems, the Director of the CBO Douglas Elmendorf has stated that the health care proposals we have so far seen will lead to greater health care costs for the government, contrary to the Dems’ claims. Of course, the MSM will probably gloss over Elmendorf’s declaration.
And lastly, what’s a news post without some polling?

Go Rudy! Love the guy.

Cuomo is the AG, with +32% approval, stacks of cash, and is blue in a blue state.
He needs to go on the Appalachian trail to lose the NY Governors race.

cuomo wont run

Ah, Biden. Obama should replace him in 2012 with a very low key VP who doesn’t have presidential. That way the gaffe machine is gone, and Secretary of State Clinton can still be the frontrunner for 2016.
As for Cuomo, if he runs, he wins. I’m still not sure if he is going to run.

Kevin, it seems unlikely that Obama will replace Biden. To do so is to admit he made a mistake with his choice and that could hurt him politically against the GOP nominee. Plus, I think Obama likes and respects Biden and considers him a friend, unlike Hillary Clinton whom Obama just views as a colleague or co-worker. If Biden does have aspirations to be President in 2016, I fully expect Obama to campaign for him, assuming they get re-elected in 2012. BIden might amke alot of gaffes, but, so does Pelosi. As for Hillary, I honestly think that after her Secretary of State gig is over, she’ll call it a day or spent the rest of her time helping to build her daughter Chelsea’s future political career.

I don’t think Obama likes Biden at all right now. I don’t see any chemistry. He should have picked Tim Kaine (and then we wouldn’t have got Sarah!).

Obama doesn’t like Biden very much now, but maybe that’s my view. I see them as very cold when they are near each other. They used to seem like great friends too, then in April or so when the gaffes started, the relationship went south.
Anyway, if Obama did replace Biden in 2012 with a VP, it wouldn’t be sold as ‘Obama replacing Biden’. It would be sold as ‘Biden is declining to run for reelection because he wants to spend time with his family’.

Why the cheap shot at Sarah Palin?
July 17th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
Honestly, against a very popular Andrew Cuomo, those arent bad numbers for Rudy (to be behind by just 8 pts)… once Rudy brings up Cuomo’s ties to Fannie Mae when he was in the Clinton Admin trying to get all these sub-prime mortgages certified by Fannie and Freddie, Cuomo might very well lose his golden touch that he got from going after all the ppl at AIG and other NYC-based financial institutions for their bonuses on the taxpayer’s dime. Its NY so its gonna be tough, but I think if anyone can pull off a GOP win (with help from a very likely worse economic environment) in NY, its Rudy.

Biden will never be elected President.

maybe cuomo doesn’t want to disturb dem politicians in new york state by running in a dem primary…he is a lock for re-election to ag, so maybe he cuts a deal with ny/national dem pols for not running…deal #1 if obama wins a second term cuomo gets named US attorney general…deal #2 cuomo gets the field cleared for running for mayor of new york city after bloomberg, both better jobs than gov of ny. As for biden, i would be shocked if he gets another term as veep…problem is what to do with him, logical spot is for him to trade jobs with hillary…problem is obama might not want hillary as veep or he wants his un amb to be second term sec of state. Yet, he can’t just dump biden and the only job other than veep for him is sec of state…as for hill as veep, maybe obama can deal with her after having biden as veep + she brings a lot more to the political table.

Heath,
I just got this crazy thought. Bear with me on this. Let’s assume Palin doesn’t run in 2012 or if Romney or another candidate beat her for the nomination. Then Romney or whoever the nominee is, goes on to lose to Obama in the general election. Then, in 2016 Biden runs and Sarah give sit another go, and both nab thier parties nomination. Imagine Biden vs Palin for the Presidency?? I’ll even spice this up a bit, Biden picks Tim Kaine as his running mate. And Palin picks Bobby Jindal as her running mate. So that’s my hypothetical scenario for 2016. Biden/Kaine vs Palin/Jindal. What do you think?

8,
That was a joke – a reference to the mainstream media’s portrayal of Palin.
