I love this!
The NRSC’s new site, Meet Democrat Arlen Specter, is trying to “properly introduce” Arlen Specter to the left.
It’s filled with press clippings and media of Specter extolling Republicans and Republican virtues.
It’s wonderful. The message? He’s your problem now, Democrats.
Here’s the link. I think you’ll find it amusing. And it demonstrates just how opportunistic and low Specter is. (It also demonstrates why he actually belongs in the Republican Party, but I’ll leave that aside.)
This is my favorite video from the site:

Yeah, regardless of what you think on Specter – I do love this strategy. It’s both effective and freaking hilarious.

Love it.

I could hope that Hamilton County (Ohio) GOP Chairman Alex Triantafilou would drop dead, but that’s, perhaps, a little harsh. I would settle for him being stricken with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and forced to undergo chemotherapy to battle for his life. Now, that would be evil.

Triantafilou is a knob.

The best video was Bush’s full throated endorsement in Specter’s own ad!

Specter is a has-been VOTE TOOMEY

With the benefit of hindsight Specter’s decision will go down as one of the stupidest political gambles ever, at least from his perspective.
Specter grossly misread the polls. He was doing badly at the moment for two reasons: #1 because his support of the stimulus bill was still fresh in the minds of voters and #2) because a large number of more moderate Republicans had re-registered Democrat or Independent. The first problem would have been solved by time (and holding firm on the card check filibuster). The second problem would have probably corrected itself on its own to some extent (disenchanted moderates drifting back into the GOP after becoming equally disenchanted with the Obama administration).
And even if his chance of winning the GOP nomination was slim, he has no chance of winning the Democratic Primary. That 70% approval number among Democrats is meaningless — what it meant was that 70% of Democrats thought he was alright FOR A REPUBLICAN. He never came close to garnering 70% or even 30% Democratic support in any general election campaign against the Democratic nominee. What weapon grade mescaline is he smoking to make him think he can get that level of support now?

“Arlen Specter was the key vote in supporting the President’s tax plan that has created jobs and revived the economy.”
Democrats will think that’s a good thing.

That’s a gross understatement.
From last month’s Quinnipiac poll:

They were talking about BUSH’S tax plan which is constantly pilloried among Democrats.
