As the youngest contributor to this site, this is a particularly interesting time for me. Ever since I’ve been old enough to comprehend the slightest bit of national policy, George W. Bush has been this nation’s president. He’s always been the president, to me. And now he’s leaving, and someone new is taking over. Bush has had his ups and downs, but as our nation’s president, we owe it to him to honor his eight years of service to the country. I put together this slideshow as my little contribution to that. Thank you, President Bush, and farewell!

Great slide show indeed Alex, Thank you Mr. Bush!
On a side note, I will donate to the RNC to thank Mr. Bush for freeing the border agents.

I’m only a real fan of Dubya in the eyes of the many who hate the guy.
In my view, Bush has lacked the communication skills to keep control of his own image, which is all the more important when you’re under the constant scrutiny of hostile media. (Do you hear me, Sarah?)
Dubya wasn’t taken seriously as a candidate, but Gore was simply even weaker than Bush. The media ridiculed him for the first nine months until 9/11 changed everything. Suddenly, the media and the American people rallied around him.
The media started to turn on Bush just before the ’04 elections, in particular over Iraq. The media seemed to recall their political affiliations — and the blowback they got from abroad and/or from circles of liberal elitism for rallying around the President too much for too long. They went from toeing the administration line to challenging everything the administration claimed.
Bush ultimately lacked the communicative talent that would have allowed him to overcome the liberal distortions in the MSM lens.

Good job Alex.
History will judge President Bush not his enemies, not CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the liberal media, neither some backstabbing republicans.

Thanks for the slide show.

Thanks for putting that together Alex.
Thank you President Bush for your 8 years of service.
It will always be noted that this country never suffered another terrorist attack on its soil due to his leadership. All Americans should be thankful of that regardless of what they think of his policies.

Good slide show Alex would have been cool to have added music.

I am new here to this board as well, with alot of political boards as a newbee could someone give me a quick lay of the land. Who are obot trolls acting like conservatives, who are real conservatives, why do so many people love Romney and Palin. FYI my opinion Romney has a better chance of building a snowball in hell than ever sitting in the white house. With that said i like Romney he just will never sell to america. I believe when need someone with spark. Thats all oboma was afterall. Me i am a hard core conservative raising 4 conservative kids but feel that after today i am wondering when the conservative movement will gain power again if ever in my lifetime.
Anyhow hello all…………

President Bush will always have my respect and my grattitude.

Pres Bush did what he needed to do to do what I consider to be the highest priority of any President, and that’s keep the homeland safe and respond effectively to threats, both at home and abroad, for which EVERY American owes him a debt of gratitude. The rest of it, however, is open for debate.

I’m definitely ready for a new president.

Put down the bush kool aid…just can’t give the man any high marks…bottom line, he was not worthy of the office he held.

Bush will join the pantheon of the top tier to second tier Presidents of the past and will be remembered as one of the greatest American Presidents for preventing attacks on the U.S. and for defeating global tyranny and international terrorism.

History will vindicate him in the most important regards, those of national security. A new threat rose and Bush took it on with resolution, despite not always having a clear strategy in mind for the times. Iraq is a testament to his resilience, if nothing else.

George Bush was a decent man who did his job to the best of his ability. That’s all anyone can ask of anyone else. How history judges him will be irrelevant as long as we know that he believed that he was acting in the best interests of the country.

When historians look back, the Presidents over the last 30 years that will stand out will be Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush. Clinton and Obama will merely be blips on the radar with little or no historical import. One gets the sense with each passing day and with all of the stumbles, that Obama is destined to be a one-term President.

Thanks for the great slide show.
I was sorry to see Bush leave today. While I did not agree on some of the things that he did, I have always found him to be a man of honor and dignity. He held to his convictions and did not waver even when the political winds were against him. He kept us safe and chose to be hated for it rather than back down and be popular. I hope that history proves he was right. And I was also proud of the way he handled the transition of power-he showed great respect for the office of the presidency.

I’m not naive about leftists, but I’ve always been puzzled as to how they could hate Bush. Who could hate the guy?? He’s such a fundamentally decent and dedicated man….Bush derangement syndrome was aptly phrased.

THANK YOU President Bush! You are a man of great character and integrity! Thank you for keeping us safe but more importantly, thank you for living out that Godly character and integrity in front of us. You showed Jesus-like humility as you left the presidency. I admire you GREATLY and you will remain in my prayers! God’s very best to you and your family!
