On Experience…

Barack Obama was a U.S. Senator for 754 days before he began his full-time run for the Presidency.

Sarah Palin was Governor of Alaska for 603 days before she began her campaign for the Vice-Presidency.

As the head of his Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee, Obama never held a meeting on Afghanistan. As the Governor of Alaska, Gov. Palin is the CiC of the Alaska Nation Guard.

Both of candidates have made trips to the Middle East during their time in office.

So tell me, how exactly Obama’s 151 day advantage make him more qualified to be CiC than Sarah Palin, the person who occupies the #2 spot on the GOP ticket?

    Key is the last phase.

If Obama-Biden is elected, there’s a 99% chance *Obama* will be Commander in Chief.

If McCain-Palin is elected, there is a 2% chance *Palin* will be Commander in Chief (within 4 years).

The GOP needs to do a lot more to contrast that 99% with that 2%.

  2. Opinionated Says:

Obama is not qualified to be President. Period.

Does that justify McCain picking a VP who’s not qualified to be President either?

Politically, McCain lost a potent avenue of attack. Experience.

But outside of politics, in the real dangerous world in which we live, McCain has proved that he, one, thinks himself invincible certain that he will serve out his term, and two, that his most admired quality, putting the good of the country above all, can be compromised.

What I find interesting is the MSM is now suddenly interested in a veep choice’s readiness to be CIC but was never interested in vetting the one running for CIC. If that doesn’t show how much the MSM is in the tank for the Dems Messiah nothing else will. The ONLY one who vetted Obama was Fox. And the MSM is being just as gender biased as the were on Hillary. When are the words harping, shrewish and emotional going to be used?

  4. SC Rob Says:

The Presidency is, after all, an executive position.
The Dems and MSM disparage Palin’s mayoral experience- how many towns have Obama or Biden run?
The Dems and MSM will keep saying that she has only governed Alaska for two years- how many years of experience do Obama and Biden have governing a state?
Palin has more executive experience than Obama or Biden (and McCain too for that matter).

    Kavon,

It’s worse for Obama than that.

Someone on Fox News last night (I think it might have been Rove) said that Obama has actually only had about 180 actual working days in the Senate (he’s spent most of his time on the campaign).

A governor, on the other hand, is effectively on-the-job 365 1/4 days a year.

No question that Palin is more prepared for the office than Obama.

But inside-the-beltway elitists seem to think that merely running for president actually prepares one for the office.

  7. MWS Says:

Think about it. Obama has had 180 working days in 3 1/2 years.

    That’s what, about 50 days a year?

  8. Jeremy Says:

Why haven’t we heard from the McCain campaign since? It’s like they packed up and left after their announcement. They need to hit this thing home. She is a reformer and ready to be Vice President/President.

  9. MarkG Says:

Think of the “hope” contrast displayed by the presidential offerings of the two parties. On one side you’ve got academic and partisan achievement. On the other? The belief that anyone can get involved, dedicate themselves, and make a difference.

  10. Faye Says:

Jeremy, maybe the McCain campaign has continued to put Palin forth at all of the campaign rallies that have taken place since the first announcement but no one is covering it. Most of the MSM , with their” fake” balanced coverage have been ripping Palin apart. They are not going to let someone be interviewed who has a positive spin on this ticket. Looks like the internet may be the only way for McCain\Palin to get positive coverage.

I think it’s time for the McCain campaign to play the media bias card again. It worked recently, several polls showed a majority of voters believed the media was biased against McCain.

The bias isn’t a problem so long as voter recognise it, and filter what they receive accordingly. A (justified) accusation of bias, would also prompt the MSM into addressing it too, while again focussing the mind on Obama’s lack of experience.

They shouldn’t just let this run, they need to spin it.

  12. MWS Says:

Sorry for the repeat in #6, the original was eaten the first time.

  13. Big S Says:

This is a dumb post. Obama has also been in office 487 days since he announced his bid for the presidency – Palin has been in office 1 day since her bid for the vice-presidency was announced. Any way you cut it, Obama will have been a Senator for four years by the time he assumes office, while Palin will have been a governor for only two.

  14. eric Says:

    Big S,

Obama hasn’t been in the Senate for 18 months.

  15. MWS Says:

    Big S,

The Senate is a part time job. Obama effectively retired from this part time job over a year and a half ago. That gives him about 2 years part time experience.

  16. FredsFighter Says:

I think that this is all preaching to the choir. Are you guys just trying to reassure yourselves that Palin is qualified in experience? Cos just one week ago most of you here would’ve said she isn’t…

  17. Seth Says:

For the record, I’ve always said Palin was qualified and experienced enough for the job.
