I’m sure that Huckabee supporters agree with this statement, but I would like to hear how this doesn’t make him a candidate for pastor-in-chief.
“I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution,” Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. “But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that’s what we need to do — to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.”
Does anyone know how much money McCain has in his war chest? I have heard rumors that his campaign is about broke. If this is true, we must take this into account when we speculate on future contests.
McCain’s raised several million dollars over the past month. He has more money now than at any time since last June. He also has several big time fundraisers lined up in Florida soon.
In McCain’s mailer against Romney, he essentially said the same thing as this ad, “Hillary tried to spend $1 million for a Woodstock museum” until “John McCain said NO.”
I bet Mitt finshes second in SC. He has a lot of local political endorsements there, and he has been onthe ground a long time. A lot of voters who like Mitt have been waiting for some validation before voting for him. He did win the straw polls in SC over the summer, so the people are familiar with him. Winning Michigan created a lot of validation for Mitt, and I think many will be surpsied at who much the state helps him.
#18, that would be great. We’ll see though, McCain & Huckabee are polling high, and Thompson is coming on strong. Plus Thompson’s anti-Mormon campaigner has been working in South Carolina for a while now.
Emtee, that McCain mailer might derail Mac in South Carolina. The same addresses are receiving the fact check article in a mailer where it says that McCain’s straight-talk express took a wrong turn. He turned his back in his campaign motto with this mailer. Romney’s guys are sending out the mailer with the fact-check quotes to the same zip codes
I think Team Romney’s main goal is to try to push McCain back to third. They’ll be fine with Huckabee winning, but a third place finish for McCain would just about do him in.
I like the ad, especially the swipe at Clinton. It nearly implies that she was doing drugs at Woodstock. McCain accomplishes a lot with this ad (attacks Clinton, reminds voters of his Vietman service, declares himself an opponent of earmarks). That’s quite a punch for a 30-second ad.
McCain is playing straight to the SC Democrat Male who must might be a Vet. Having lived in SC for many years, I can tell you the ad will play very, very well there and may help him. I can also tell you very few SC men will even admit if they voted for Hillary. There is a huge retired military population there.

Great ad, but it’s not new.
January 16th, 2008 at 2:31 pm

Too bad McCain wasn’t actually there for the most important votes on the project:

mccain’s commercials where he uses his pow status to get political gain makes me uncomfortable. I don’t like it. just me though.
