Poll Alert

The last Des Moines Register poll will be out tonight at 9pm CT/10pm ET.

I don’t know how much water it will hold given Mike Huckabee’s self-destruction this morning.  Three more days, Huck. All you needed to do was hold out for three days and you couldn’t even do that.

9 pm Central!?? Crap! I was under the impression it was 9 pm Eastern. Gonna have to wait an extra hour I guess….

  2. Josiah Says:

First comes the Huckabust, and then the McBust. Only a matter of time. :)

  3. Patrick Says:

While I consider it highly unlikely, imagine the irony of ironies of Senator McCain placed 2nd in Iowa after a premature “Huckabust”.

  4. Patrick Says:

That should have been “if”, not “of” obviously.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Mike Huckabee may have finally gone too far.

After running an unconventional, surprisingly strong and sometimes strange race to the top tier of the Republican presidential campaign, the former Arkansas governor topped himself Monday with a campaign stunt that smacked of hypocrisy.

He called a news conference to unveil a negative ad that he had just withdrawn from Iowa television stations because, he told a room full of journalists recording the ad, he had a sudden aversion to negative politics. Quite a convenient epiphany.

“If people want to be cynical about it,” Huckabee said, “they can be cynical about it.”

If he loses Iowa’s caucuses, New Year’s Eve will forever mark the day Huckabee blew it — the day a crowd stopped laughing with the witty Republican and laughed at him.

    MEET THE REAL MIKE HUCKABEE.

“I don’t know how much water it will hold given Mike Huckabee’s self-destruction this morning. ”

I think that is a major overstatement. I don’t know whether or not this morning was a contrived stunt (it doesn’t matter to me), but I can see why Huckabee is sick of Romney lying about his own record and Huckabee’s.

If Romney’s Lie and Buy strategy works, I think I’ll be sick.

MWS – you show me one thing Romney has said about Huckabee that was not supported by facts.

I think MWS is still in love!! I have some property in the ozarks for sale! :)

    MWS,

I’d love to hear how Romney lied about Huck’s record. Got any specifics?

I’d also love to hear how it wasn’t a stunt for Huck to send the ad to stations at 6am, cancel it at 10am, schedule a noon press conference, and pretend to change his mind on the negative ad at 11:50am, but show it to the press anyway.

    MWS,
sounds like a rebuttle from Huckabee – more of a distraction and a joke than substancial and logical.

  12. LJ Says:

    MWS,

“DES MOINES, Iowa — Mike Huckabee said Monday he wouldn’t run a TV ad he’d prepared blistering Republican rival Mitt Romney as dishonest. Then he showed it to a room packed with reporters and cameramen.”

That’s the lede paragraph in the AP’s report from the most balanced reporter they have, Liz Sidoti. Ouch.

Combine this with Joe Carter (Huck’s most talented senior adviser) bailing the campaign and we may be witnessing a Howard Dean like collapse.

Here is a Dem poll for a firm that nailed the Dems numbers in 2004, Edwards comes in First and Obama in thrid. If that happends McCain will do backflips as part of his townhalls.

abe is a prophet. hooray for the huckabust!

  15. Abe Says:

    Thanks…..John Galt……

BUT I AM NO PROPHET……I leave that to others…..
