Fred Thompson’s Campaign Slogan

With Mitt Romney, you get “Strong. New. Leadership.” With John McCain, you can be assured of “Straight Talk” for the American people. Mike Huckabee is a “Proven Leader. Authentic Conservative.” Sam Brownback is the “Principled. Conservative. Republican.”

And now, introducing Fred Thompson’s campaign slogan:

“Security, Unity, and Prosperity.”

There you go.

  1. Fred Thompson’s Campaign Slogan at Conservative Times--Republican GOP news source. Says:

[...] post by Matt C and software by Elliott [...]

  2. ThatLibertarianGuy Says:

Ron Paul’s campaign slogan is “I would have a slogan if it were authorized by the Constitution.”
Tom Tancredo’s is “My slogan has yet to pass its background check.”
    Duncan Hunter’s is “I can’t afford a slogan, sorry.”

  3. Kevin Says:

“Security, Unity, Prosperity. These are the things that come with the comfort of No-Doze, which I take every day to offset my naturally lazy, droopy-eyed tendencies. When I’m on the campaign trail for President, an office about which I don’t care, and for which I’m only running because my shoulder angels in the media convinced me I should, I take as much No-Doze as possible. That way, I can continue to be apathetic, but appear at least somewhat alive — if not vibrant.”

    - I’m Fred Thompson and I approve this message.

  4. Gary Matthew Miller Says:

    How about, “Fred on Impact”?

  5. Jonathan Says:

I prefer “Better Dead than Fred”

  6. JohnnyG Says:

    TLG – just brilliant.

  7. nowandlater Says:

    Thats a good slogan.

  8. JON Says:

    Fred’s slogan should be:

“always do as little as possible, never work more than you have to”

  9. Adam Says:

    “Fred’s slogan should be:

‘always do as little as possible, never work more than you have to’ ”

This sums of Fred perfectly. It’s exactly why he’s the WRONG candidate for the GOP. Whatever happened to the standard Republican line of “hard work gets you ahead”? Here’s a guy won’t get out of a golf cart to work a crowd. Many of the social conservatives want to hand the nomination to this guy on a silver platter just because he is a Southerner and tows their line. If they succeed, the entire party will once again look like a bunch of hypocrites. We already saw this play out in 2000 when we nominated (what took me too many years to realize) was an empty vessel. I really hope it doesn’t happen again.

  10. Peter Says:

If that commercial of Romney jogging isn’t supposed to imply that Thompson is a tired ol dman…

  11. Dave Says:

Even though he hasn’t officially announced, my sense is that there’s a growing perception that Fred is yesterday’s news. He needs something that will reverse the perception of old, tired, and lazy. In short, he needs a more dynamic slogan, combined with a whirlwind couple of months on the campaign trail. Otherwise, he’ll continue to decline in the polls.

  12. Randy Says:

How about this one: “Don’t do today what you can do tomorrow”

  13. JON Says:

Great one. I like #12′s slogan.

I agree. the narrative now is that Fred was the supposed Savior but watited too long. THey are saying he must be flawless in the next few weeks with no mistakes. THe media will be pouncing on every little mess up. It will be hard for him.

besides i think the media hsa found its new darling: huckabee. He is the populist republican who reminds them of mccain. Look to see them shift their attention from Fred to Huckabee.

Not a huckabee fan. i don’t like big governmetn conservatives.

In my opinion however it is looking more and more like a Rudy Romney race. I think the primary schedule will be key in who wins that race. themore it gets screwed up, the better rudy’s risky strategy may pay off.

  14. Romney Blogger Says:

I am a little confused about the “unity” part. Unity with republicans or unity with democrats? Unity with who?

  15. Pisces 11 Says:

How about if they start off by paying off his wife’s debt to that hospital. Maybe then he won’t look so sleazy.

  16. Randy Says:

Pisces, maybe thats what Fred will do with the donations he gets for his fad campaign. He’s basically doing this to steal money. It sure doesn’t look like he’s running because he wants the job.

  17. nate Says:

I cant wait to see him driven around Iowa in the back seat of a golf cart again. It boggles my mind that people are enchanted by his Hollywood character.

  18. SGS Says:

Hey, should not we see some more candidates falling out by now? It has been over 3 weeks since Ames polls.

  19. Jonathan Says:

certain candidates (i.e. Brownback, Tancredo, Hunter and Paul) are laboring under the delusion that they can gain moe before the Iowa caucus, although I do have to ask… how many 1% showings does it take before you start to take the hint?

  20. Henry Heavner Says:

Like most slogans, eh. I’m not worried about the unity part. If Fred starts talking bipartisanship all the time, then I’m worried.

  21. Jack Says:

I heard that Fred was going to rely on his senate voting record to gain the support of the GOP base. If this is the case, I have to ask, “how much effort does it take to check the same box that the majority of your party checked?” Is this really the kind of president we want to run this country? Also, the idea of announcing via a webcast might seem bold and innovative for these times, however with the existing perception of Fred, I just think it is lazy.
Look at me, I didn’t go anywhere to announce that I am running for presidend…

  22. Jack Says:

TLG #2. lol. good way to start the morning!

  23. Dave Says:

Regarding #17 and #18: Paul and Tancredo are in this thing to tout their respective causes–not to win. Brownback is simply too proud and self-centered to drop out. As for Hunter, he’s obviously delusional.

  24. Grant Gormley Says:

Why is no one reporting the Rasmussen tracking poll today?

  25. James Clark Says:

    “Security, Unity, and Prosperity.”
That sounds quite SPP/NAFTA/NAU to me.

Fred has waited too long. Mike Huckabee has taken the momentum, and he won’t stop until he sits in the White House.

  26. Argamenon Says:

That sounds like an old Soviet slogan. The Unity part is cause for concern. Collectivist rethoric doesn’t play too well with the GOP. Mentioning Security and leaving out Freedom is also a problem.

  27. Sean P Says:

    Fred Thompson:
Restoring the American Dream… when he gets around to it.

  28. Jeff Yeager Says:

TLG, #2, wow. That made my morning. Brilliant.

  29. Fred! Announces He Will Announce « Blogs 4 Brownback Says:

[...] Fred’s slogan: “Security, Unity, and Prosperity.”  And the crowd smirked.  You’ll have to do better [...]
