Romney’s Campaign Strategy Leaked

Scott Helman (who writes his 6 billionth Romney piece for the Globe) has uncovered the 77-slide PowerPoint presentation from deep inside the belly of the Mitt Romney presidential campaign. I haven’t had a chance to go over it yet, but I have to say that I do like “Slick Dancing Mitt” as a nickname. I’ll have more thoughts later on.

This coming a couple months after Rudy’s was leaked, I have to wonder how the Boston Globe managed to get a hold of this? How long until John McCain’s campaign document is leaked as well?

I fail to see how this is bad news for Romney (not that you presented it as such, LJ)

Likewise. Everything in the Globe piece has been discussed here for months. And why did they expose only 1 slide out of a 77 slide deck?

Note to the Boston Globe: My Dog wrote that PPT.

I spoke with several campaign staffers today at a DC Romney fundraiser. When I brought the subject up they laughed. “That’s not our strategy or our document”.

I agree, this isn’t necessarily bad news for Romney. I just think that these types of leaks are great for us political junkies because it gives us a small glimpse into the inner workings of a presidential campaign. Also, the comments on McCain and Giuliani are especially interesting:

McCain is described as a war hero and maverick with a compelling narrative and a reputation for wit, authenticity, and straight talk. But he’s also seen as “too Washington,” “too close to [Democratic] Left,” an “uncertain, erratic, unreliable leader in uncertain times.” “Does he fit The Big Chair?” the document asks. The plan calls McCain, 70, a “mature brand” and raises questions about whether he could handle the rigors of leading the free world.

Giuliani is called an outside-the-Beltway rock star and truth teller who earned the nation’s trust for his leadership of New York City’s response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. But he is described as a one-dimensional Lone Ranger whose social views — he supports abortion rights and civil unions for gay couples — could destroy the “GOP brand.” “We can’t disqualify Dems like Hillary on social issues ever again” if Giuliani is the nominee, the document states.

If there’s one thing I can agree with Romney about, it’s that Rudy is one dimensional.

I fail to see how the BG got a hold of a computer file of that size… A little illegal hacking maybe…? ;)

(And, yes, I know someone could have dropped of a CD or something–take the humor)

I think there a lot of companies that are looking for jobs with the Campaign. It could have easily been a proposal (hence the ppt presentation form) from a company that didn’t get the job.

Who would keep there strategy fr the campaign on a powerpoint presentation slide show?
