According to sources, Governor Mitt Romney will be announcing later today in Iowa that Iowa House Speaker Christopher Rants has joined his Commonwealth PAC as an adviser.
There can be no denying that the Senator McCain and Governor Romney organizations are far ahead of the rest of the GOP competition at this juncture in terms of 2008 campaign personnel, and are committed to front runner and early entrant strategies. How this reality impacts the other candidates and the polls will be interesting to watch.

Man, it seems like everyday Romney and McCain add yet another operative to their national arsenal. That isn’t even counting the endorsements that both have likely secured that won’t be publically disclosed until after the November elections. This dueling battle between them in Iowa, New Hampshire and Michigan is tremendously fascinating.

I spoke too fast, via the Hotline blog:
“Joining Sen, John McCain’s Straight Talk America are New Hampshire Sheriffs Scott Carr (Carroll County), Doug Dutile (Grafton County), Dick Foote (Cheshire County), Jim Hardy (Hillsborough County), Chet Jordan (Merrimack County – outgoing), Scott Hilliard (Merrimack County – Republican Nominee), and Gerald Marcou (Coos County).
Carr was a Bush supporter in ’00. Says he, in a statement provided by McCain’s Straight Talk America PAC: “John McCain knows New Hampshire, he knows national security, and he knows how to win on the issues that are most important to Americans. I am honored to join with my colleagues to support his efforts.”
This seems like a series of impressive pickups by McCain.
