I’ve always found it interesting that McCain’s strongest regions are New England and that portion of the upper midwest that can be classified as historically populist.
About the only states McCain polls near or higher than Rudy in are Michigan, Wisconsin, Massachusetts (go figure), and possibly a couple others in the same vicinity. Giuliani stomps McCain in the sunbelt, i.e., the part of the country that’s actually growing.
It would be interesting to delve into the history and culture of the pro-McCain regions to see what factors may explain their continued affinity for the MSM’s favorite senator.
